The increase in energy demand and depletion of fossil fuels are among major issues of modern society. Valorization and transformation of raw materials in products of industrial value represents a challenge. This justifies the growing interest of scientific research towards the identification of suitable media and methodologies able to pursue above goals, paying attention to matter of sustainability. On this subject, we studied sulfonic-acid functionalized diimidazolium salts as catalysts for the conversion of fructose and sucrose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) in an ionic liquid mixture. Parental Trust in Teachers and Children’s Interest in Reading and Math: A Longitudinal Study

This study investigated cross-lagged associations between parental trust in a child’s teacher and children’s academic interest across Grades 1–4 in primary school. Parents rated trust in their child’s teacher, and 576 children reported their interest in reading and math at each grade. The results showed that high parental trust in a child’s teacher predicted the child’s high interest in math. In addition, the child’s high interest in reading in Grade 2 was related to the father’s subsequent trust in the teacher. peerReviewed

Mitruma ietekme uz būvkonstrukcijām un komforta apstākļiem telpās

Darbā analizēts kā būvēs no atšķirīgiem konstrukciju materiāliemmainās mitruma līmenis gan gaisā, gan pašās konstrukcijāsatkarībā no āra gaisa relatīvā mitruma, temperatūras, ventilācijas intensitātes un ūdens iztvaikošanas intensitātes telpā. Šādi tika pētīts arī kā cilvēka izdalītais mitrums ietekmē telpu mikroklimatu. Analizējot ilgtermiņa monitoringa datus parādīts, ka faktiskās būvkonstrukciju siltuma caurlaidības vērtības var būtiski atšķirties no aprēķinātajām vērtībām un būtiski mainīties arī būvju ekspluatācijas laikā.

En esta tesis doctoral se realizaron estudios computacionales para las enzimas caspasa-1 y la 3CLpro del SARS-CoV-2. Estas enzimas pertenecen a la familia de las cisteína proteasas, las cuales hidrolizan sus respectivos sustratos rompiendo un enlace peptídico en particular. En esta reacción interviene una diada catalítica conformada por un par Cis-His. La caspasa-1 fue seleccionada debido a su importancia farmacológica en la enfermedad de Alzheimer, y la enzima 3CLpro del SARS-CoV-2 por estar involucrada en el proceso de replicación del virus responsable de la enfermedad del COVID-19. Ievads: Vispasaules medicīnas literatūrā, tiek publicēti daudz pētījumi, par sāpju spektra analīzi pēc trūces operācijām ar polipropilēna implantu, taču ir pieejama maz informācija attiecībā uz sāpju spektru analīzi pirms trūces operācijas ar polipropilēna sietu. Darba mērķis: Pētījuma darba mērķis ir noskaidrot un analizēt trūču slimnieku sāpju spektru pirms un pēc ķirurģiskas operācijas ar polipropilēna implantu. Materiāli un metodes: Prospektīvā pētījumā iekļauti pacienti ar vēdera sienas trūcēm, kuri tika operēti izmantojot polipropilēna sietu.
