Increasing evidence suggests that antibodies can have stimulatory effects on T-cell immunity. However, the contribution of circulating antigen-specific antibodies on MHC class I cross-priming in vivo has not been conclusively established. Here, we defined the role of circulating antibodies in cross-presentation of antigen to CD8(+) T cells. Mice with hapten-specific circulating antibodies, but naϊve for the T-cell antigen, were infused with haptenated antigen and CD8(+) T-cell induction was measured. The polypeptide chain composition of class II antigens from LEW rat spleen cells was studied utilizing cross-reactive mouse alloantiserum A. TH anti-A.TL (specificity anti-Iak) and the monoclonal antibodies MRC-OX6 and MRC-OX3 for immunoprecipitation. Two-dimensional gel mapping of A. TH anti-A. Eosinophilic fasciitis (EF), first described by Shulman in 1974, is a rare disease characterized by fibrosis and inflammatory infiltration of the muscle fascia as well as scleroderma-like skin indurations and blood eosinophilia. Control of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) depends on CD8+ T cell responses that are shaped by an individual's repertoire of MHC molecules. MHC class I presentation is modulated by a set of HCMV-encoded proteins. Here we show that HCMV immunoevasins differentially impair T cell recognition of epitopes from the same viral antigen, immediate-early 1 (IE-1), that are presented by different MHC class I allotypes. Abstract CDS-positive cytotoxic T cells (CTL) recognize antigenic peptides in combination with major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules on the surface of syngeneic antigen presenting cells (APC). In the present paper we show that cells from tumor antigen-specific CTL clones present their cognate antigenic peptide to other CTL from the same clone. Inter-CTL peptide presentation resulted in activation of the cells of one CTL clone to MHC-unrestricted lysis of bystander cells. ABSTRACTThe mechanisms of immune evasion and the role of the early immune response in chronic infection caused by hepatitis C virus (HCV) are still unclear. Here, we present evidence for a cascade of molecular events that the virus initiates to subvert the innate immune attack. Abstract The heterodimeric peptide transporter TAP belongs to the ABC transporter family. Sequence comparisons with the P-glycoprotein and cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator and the functional properties of selective amino acids in these ABC transporters postulated that the glutamic acid at position 263 and the phenylalanine at position 265 of the TAP1 subunit could affect peptide transporter function.
