In this thesis we present an overview of some important known facts related to topology, geometry and calculus on metric spaces. We discuss the well known problem of the existence of a lipschitz equivalent metric to a given quasiultrametric, revisiting known results and counterexamples and providing some new theorems, in an unified approach. Distillation is the most widely used method to obtain an essential oil from plant material. The biomass used in the process is returned as a solid residue together with variable amounts of water rich in water-soluble compounds, which currently are not addressed to any further application. The scope of this work was to evaluate the phytochemical composition of wastewaters coming from hydrodistillation (DWWs) of five aromatic plants belonging to the Lamiaceae family, and to assess their in vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Tässä artikkelissa tarkastellaan ammattirakenteiden polarisaatiota sekä yrityksissä että yritysrakenteiden muutoksen välityksellä. Aineistona käytetään yhdistettyä yritys-työntekijä-aineistoa vuosilta 2000–2009. Rutiininomaisia työtehtäviä on kadonnut sekä yritysten sisällä että yritysrakenteiden muutoksen kautta. Sen sijaan korkean osaamistason ammattien osuuden kasvu taloudessa on toteutunut ennen kaikkea yrityksien sisällä tapahtuneiden muutosten kautta. Palveluammattien osuutta on kasvattanut eniten se, että uusissa yrityksissä palveluammattien osuus on ollut suuri ja poistuvissa yrityksissä pieni.
