Movescapes. Geografie del movimento fra spazio e rappresentazione

2013

This project has three main aims. First, it seeks to rethink space and spatiality from movement. To do this it follows some significant steps of philosophical tradition (Aristotle, Hegel, Heidegger, Merleau Ponty, Derrida, etc.) in an attempt to demonstrate the close relation between the movement of body and the production of space. No space would exist without an original movement producing it: the body comes out of himself, it spaces, and it is precisely in this dislocation that the spatiality is brought into being (Merleau Ponty). Bodies in motion produce space, but what happens if these bodies fall between the lines of a text or on the planes of a map? Can representational spaces hold t…

Genetic effects on mobility, obesity and their association in older female twins

2009

Nowadays it is common that men and women gain weight during their adulthood, arriving to older ages with excessive body weight or obesity. This may potentially have adverse consequences on health in late life, as for example, it can lead to higher difficulties to move in everyday life and eventually to earlier disability. Many studies have shown that in older population obesity and mobility problems are hand-by-hand. The main aim of the present investigation was to elucidate the extent to which this relation between mobility and obesity could be explained by common genetic and environmental influences in older women. This research utilized data from 434 Finnish twin sisters gathered during t…

Residential mobility as a cause and consequence of vulnerability among the elderly in Reunion Island

2021

STRATEGIES FOR A MORE SUSTAINABLE HOME FOOD DELIVERY SYSTEM: THE CASE STUDY OF DELIVEROO

2020

The aim of this work is to investigate the main enabling factors facilitating the diffusion of the emobility in the food delivery sector through the analysis of the Deliveroo case study. Deliveroo s.r.l. has been chosen for two main reasons. First, the growing importance of the company in the food delivery market, with an annual turnover increase of +120 million euros in 2017, becoming one of the major national players for food delivery. Second, the company recently adopted a strategy to support the diffusion of electric mobility for home delivery through the subscription of specific agreements.

Interregional mobility, socio-economic inequality and mortality among cancer patients

2020

This paper investigates 3-years mortality after discharge in patients residing in Sicily (Italy) diagnosed with cancer among: colon, stomach, liver, and lungs, between 1/1/2010 - 31/12/2011. The effect of mobility and socio-economic status on mortality is evaluated through survival analysis approach. Results shows that out-of-region hospitalization is associated with higher survival time; no association of mortality with socio-economic status appears. The extent of patients’ mobility, and its relation with mortality raises regional policy considerations

“Dealing With Patients’ Mobility Issues: An Inter-Institutional Perspective To Analyze The Phenomenon And To Support Sustainable Policy Making In Sic…

2014

Nowadays many Italian policy makers, both at a national and regional level, are devoting a growing attention to the phenomenon of patients’ movements seeking public healthcare treatments out of the territorial jurisdiction. This paper presents the main features of a research project being carried out to analyze the mobility flows of Sicilian patients towards other Italian Regions in order to support the design of sustainable related policies. Such study adopts an inter-institutional perspective as the design of sustainable mobility-related policies requires a coordination effort of the Regional Healthcare Department, the Local Health Authorities and the Healthcare providers. The main outcom…

Pathways and pedestrian crossings: indicators of quality and safety

2014

Pedestrian mobility can be considered an important feature in a new model of town organization. Enhancing pedestrian mobility could bring new life and activities in the old and historic parts of the town reviving their original identities. The planning of new quarters is often performed considering a wide use of private cars, this resulting in urban highways and long and winding local roads hindering pedestrian mobility and safe-ty. Town social features and mobility purpose, related to pedestrian age, are important elements to define the Pedestrian Safety Indicators. Using a GIS software, an evaluation of risk was carried out along a main urban road in order to study and develop measures to…

Preparation of tungstophosphoric acid/cerium-doped NH2-UiO-66 Z-scheme photocatalyst: a new candidate for green photo-oxidation of dibenzothiophene a…

2021

International audience; The goal of this study was to introduce an effective visible-light induced photocatalytic system with a good ability for photocatalytic oxidative desulfurization (PODS) and denitrogenation (PODN) using molecular oxygen (O2) as an oxidant. In this regard, tungestophosphoric acid (PW12) was supported onto cerium-doped NH2-UiO-66 (PW12/Ce-NUiO-66) and employed for the photo-oxidation of dibenzothiophene (DBT) and quinoline (Qu). Herein, using cerium (Ce) as a “mediator” facilitated the separation of charge carriers, while NH2-UiO-66 remarkably enhanced the surface area with plentiful adsorption sites and shifted the adsorption edge of PW12to the visible region. The sum …
