The young hard active Sun: soft X-ray irradiation of tryptophan in water solutions

2010

AbstractThe X-ray emission of the young Sun was much harder and intense than today and might have played a significant role in the evolution of complex organics in protoplanetary environments. We investigate the effects of soft X-rays on tryptophan molecules in aqueous solutions at room temperature. As results of the irradiation experiments we detect several light species indicative of fragmentation, together with large molecular structures such as tryptophan dipeptide and tripeptide. Complexification is more evident in H2O solution than in D2O, probably due to isotopic effects. The abundances of peptides depend on the irradiation dose and decrease with increasing energy deposition. Radical…

Pharmacogenomic identification of small molecules for lineage specific manipulation of subventricular zone germinal activity

2017

Strategies for promoting neural regeneration are hindered by the difficulty of manipulating desired neural fates in the brain without complex genetic methods. The subventricular zone (SVZ) is the largest germinal zone of the forebrain and is responsible for the lifelong generation of interneuron subtypes and oligodendrocytes. Here, we have performed a bioinformatics analysis of the transcriptome of dorsal and lateral SVZ in early postnatal mice, including neural stem cells (NSCs) and their immediate progenies, which generate distinct neural lineages. We identified multiple signaling pathways that trigger distinct downstream transcriptional networks to regulate the diversity of neural cells …

A galectin links the aggregation factor to cells in the sponge (Geodia cydonium) system.

1996

The cDNA for the full-length lectin from the marine sponge Geodia cydonium was cloned. Analysis of the deduced aa sequence revealed that this lectin belongs to the group of galectins. The full-length galectin, which was obtained also in a recombinant form, has an M(r) of 20,877; in the processed form it is a 15 kDa polypeptide. The enriched aggregation factor from G.cydonium also was determined to contain, besides minimal amounts of the galectin, a 140 kDa polypeptide which is involved in cell-cell adhesion. Monoclonal antibodies have been raised against this protein; Fab' fragments prepared from them abolished cell-cell reaggregation. Cell reaggregation experiments revealed that the aggreg…

In vitro differentiation of E-N-CAM expressing rat neural precursor cells isolated by FACS during prenatal development

1994

Most fetal rat brain cells expressing the embryonal, highly sialylated form of the cell adhesion molecule N-CAM (E-N-CAM) are precursor cells, as judged from the absence of marker molecules specific for mature neural cell types. However, the detection of E-N-CAM+ cells in frozen sections does not provide information on the lineage-specific differentiation of these cells during development. To investigate their differentiation behaviour in vitro, E-N-CAM+ cells were isolated at different times of brain development by fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS), using a monoclonal antibody (Mab RB21-7) which specifically recognizes polysialic acid (PSA) residues on E-N-CAM. Double-immunofluore…

Computational investigations of 18-electron triatomic sulfur–nitrogen anions

2018

MRCI-SD/def2-QZVP and PBE0/def2-QZVP calculations have been employed for the analysis of geometries, stabilities, and bonding of isomers of the 18-electron anions N2S2−, NS2−, and NSO−. Isomers of the isoelectronic neutral molecules SO2, S2O, S3, and O3 are included for comparison. The sulfur-centered acyclic NSN2−, NSS−, and NSO− anions are the most stable isomers of their respective molecular compositions. However, the nitrogen-centered isomers SNS− and SNO− lie close enough in energy to their more stable counterparts to allow their occurrence. The experimental structural information, where available, is in good agreement with the optimized bond parameters. The bonding in all investigate…

Synthesis, characterization, crystal structures and biological screening of 4-amino quinazoline sulfonamide derivatives

2019

Three quinazolin-4-ylamino derivatives containing phenylbenzenesulfonamides (7a-7c) were synthesized by reacting (E)-N'-(2-cyanophenyl)-N,N-dimethyl formamidine (6) with different 4- amino-N-(phenyl)benzenesulfonamides (4a-4c) and characterized by different techniques such as HRMS, IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The structural properties were further examined by single crystal X-ray diffraction method. The X-ray data shows that compounds 7a and 7c contain two molecules and 7b contains one molecule in the asymmetric unit. Comparison of conformation of two distinct molecules, “A” and “B”, in the asymmetric unit of 7a and 7c were studied with the aid of reported literature. The in vitro …

Multiproperty complexes of 4d and 4f metal ions based on biomolecules: from fundamental research to potential applications

2023

X-Ray structure, Hirshfeld analysis and DFT studies of two new hits of triazolyl-indole bearing alkylsulfanyl moieties

2021

Two new hits of triazolyl-indole containing two different alkylsulfanyl analogues named tert-butyl 2-((4-amino-5-(1H-indol-2-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)thio)acetate 2, and ethyl 2-((4-amino-5-(1H-indol-2-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)thio)acetate 3 were synthesized via reaction of 4-amino-5-(1H-indol-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazol-3(2H)-thione 1 with tert-butyl bromoacetate and ethyl chloroacetate in the presence of base (Et3N). The molecular structure of 2, and 3 was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and 1H/13C- NMR spectroscopic techniques. In compound 2, the molecular packing depends on significant O...H (9.3%), N...H (12.4%) and S...H (3.1%) as well as relatively weak C...H (14.1%), S...C (…

High Angular Resolution ALMA Images of Dust and Molecules in the SN 1987A Ejecta

2019

We present high angular resolution (~80 mas) ALMA continuum images of the SN 1987A system, together with CO $J$=2 $\!\rightarrow\!$ 1, $J$=6 $\!\rightarrow\!$ 5, and SiO $J$=5 $\!\rightarrow\!$ 4 to $J$=7 $\!\rightarrow\!$ 6 images, which clearly resolve the ejecta (dust continuum and molecules) and ring (synchrotron continuum) components. Dust in the ejecta is asymmetric and clumpy, and overall the dust fills the spatial void seen in H$\alpha$ images, filling that region with material from heavier elements. The dust clumps generally fill the space where CO $J$=6 $\!\rightarrow\!$ 5 is fainter, tentatively indicating that these dust clumps and CO are locationally and chemically linked. In t…

The bending triad of the quasi-spherical top molecule SO2F2 in the 550 cm(-1) region

2006

International audience; The analysis of the v(3)/v(7)/v(9) bending triad of SO2F2 has been recently performed with the Watson's Hamiltonian up to octic terms employing 79 rovibrational parameters but including only the first order Coriolis interaction terms, fixed to ab initio values [H. Burger, J. Demaison, F. Hegelund, L. Margules, I. Merke, J. Mol. Struct. 612 (2002) 133-141]. Since SO2F2 is a quasi-spherical top, it can also be considered as derived from the SO42- sulfate ion. We have thus developed a new tensorial formalism in the O(3) > Td > C2v group chain [M. Rotger, V. Boudon, M. Loete, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 216 (2002) 297-307]. This approach allows a systematic development of rovibra…
