Flavonoids in sbtribe Centaureinae (Cass.) Dumort (tribe Carduae, Asteraceae): distibution and 13C spectral data
2012
Asteraceae Bercht. & J. Presl is one of the biggest and most economically important plant families. The taxonomy and phylogeny of Asteraceae is rather complex and according to the latest and most reliable taxonomic classification of Panero & Funk, based on the analysis of nine chloroplast regions, the family is divided into 12 subfamilies and 35 tribes. One of the largest tribes of Asteraceae is Cardueae Cass. with four subtribes (Carlininae, Echinopinae, Carduinae and Centaureinae) and more than 2500 species. Susanna & Garcia-Jacas have organized the genera of Centaureinae (about 800 species) into seven informal groups, which recent molecular studies have confirmed: 1. Basal genera; 2. Vol…
Survival of Floquet–Bloch States in the Presence of Scattering
2021
Floquet theory has spawned many exciting possibilities for electronic structure control with light, with enormous potential for future applications. The experimental demonstration in solids, however, remains largely unrealized. In particular, the influence of scattering on the formation of Floquet-Bloch states remains poorly understood. Here we combine time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy with time-dependent density functional theory and a two-level model with relaxation to investigate the survival of Floquet-Bloch states in the presence of scattering. We find that Floquet-Bloch states will be destroyed if scattering-activated by electronic excitations-prevents the Bloch elec…
A new species of Orobanche (Orobanchaceae) from Israel
2009
Orobanche daninii a new species belonging to Orobanche sect. Trionychon is described and illustrated from the inland near Paran, Israel. Its relationships with O. aegyptiaca, O. mutelii and O. schultzii are examined.
The genus Orobanche (Orobanchaceae) in Sicily
2011
The taxa of Orobanche occurring in Sicily and on the surrounding islets have been surveyed in the field and in herbaria. In total, 23 species occur in the region. O. litorea is found to be distinct from O. minor and O. thapsoides from O. canescens. O. crenata and O. ramosa are serious pests that cause heavy losses to broad bean and tomato cultures, respectively.
Dielectric Relaxation of a Polybutadiene Melt at a Crystalline Graphite Surface: Atomistic Molecular Dynamics Simulations
2014
Dielectric experiments are an indispensable tool to further our understanding of the relaxation behavior of polymers, not only in bulk samples but also in confined situations. A chemically realistic Molecular Dynamics simulation, in which all information about molecular motions is available, can shed light onto the questions of heterogeneity and anisotropy of the underlying molecular relaxation processes which lead to the ensemble averaged experimental dielectric signal. In this contribution, we present a careful analysis of the dielectric response of a weakly polar and confined polymer, 1,4-polybutadiene between graphite walls. The relaxation of the segmental dipole moments was obtained in…
Prediction and Surveillance Sampling Assessment in Plant Nurseries and Fields
2022
In this paper, we propose a structured additive regression (STAR) model for modeling the occurrence of a disease in fields or nurseries. The methodological approach involves a Gaussian field (GF) affected by a spatial process represented by an approximation to a Gaussian Markov random field (GMRF). This modeling allows the building of maps with prediction probabilities regarding the presence of a disease in plants using Bayesian kriging. The advantage of this modeling is its computational benefit when compared with known spatial hierarchical models and with the Bayesian inference based on Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods. Inference through the use of the integrated nested Laplace app…
Robustness Analysis of DCE-MRI-Derived Radiomic Features in Breast Masses: Assessing Quantization Levels and Segmentation Agreement
2022
Featured Application The use of highly robust radiomic features is fundamental to reduce intrinsic dependencies and to provide reliable predictive models. This work presents a study on breast tumor DCE-MRI considering the radiomic feature robustness against the quantization settings and segmentation methods. Machine learning models based on radiomic features allow us to obtain biomarkers that are capable of modeling the disease and that are able to support the clinical routine. Recent studies have shown that it is fundamental that the computed features are robust and reproducible. Although several initiatives to standardize the definition and extraction process of biomarkers are ongoing, th…
STUDIO DEL COMPORTAMENTO DINAMICO DI UN MODELLO HALF CAR E CONFRONTO FRA AMMORTIZZAZIONE PASSIVA E SEMIATTIVA A FLUIDO MAGNETO-REOLOGICO
2010
Fluorescent Hg2+ Sensors: Synthesis and Evaluation of a Tren-Based Starburst Molecule Containing Fluorinated 1,2,4-Oxadiazoles.
2010
A new tren-based starburst molecule containing fluorinated 1,2,4-oxadiazoles as fluorophores has been synthesized and its sensing behavior toward several metal cations has been investigated by UV/Vis, fluorescence, 1 H NMR and 19 F NMR spectroscopy. Selective sensing for Hg 2+ ions through a PET-based mechanism was evidenced, suggesting application as fluorescent sensor for Hg 2+ of the off-on type.
