Molecular mechanisms underlying proteins-membrane interaction
I Segni premonitori del Giudizio Universale in un inedito testo tedesco del XV secolo
2022
Numerous lists of the premonitory signs of the Last Judgment and wider narratives focussing on the same motif, which presents variants and articulated typologies, circulated throughout the Middle Ages, both in Latin and in the vernacular languages. Also in Germany the motif continues to be present in literature up to the threshold of the modern age, with the Lutheran Reform which is, also in this case, a watershed. The purpose of the contribution is the philological-literary analysis of a prose composition, in late German, devoted to the 15 Signs of Judgment, still unpublished, preserved in the ms. München, BStB cgm 522 (ff. 163v-166v), datable around 1470. The codex contains a miscellany o…
Prevalence of Musculoskeletal Disorders among Dentists and Dental Students in Germany
2020
Background: Dentists are at a higher risk of suffering from musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) than the general population. However, the latest study investigating MSD in the dental profession in Germany was published about 20 years ago. Therefore, the aim of this study was to reveal the current prevalence of MSD in dentists and dental students in Germany. Methods: The final study size contained 450 (287 f/163 m) subjects of different areas of specialization. The age of the participants ranged from 23 to 75 years. The questionnaire consisted of a modified version of the Nordic Questionnaire, work-related questions from the latest questionnaire of German dentists, typical medical conditions and…
Ergonomic Risk Assessment of Dental Students—RULA Applied to Objective Kinematic Data
2021
Musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) is already prevalent in dental students despite their young age and the short duration of dental practice. The current findings state that the causes of MSD are related to posture during dental work. This study aims to investigate the ergonomic risk of dental students. In order to analyze the ergonomic risk of dental students, 3D motion analyses were performed with inertial sensors during the performance of standardized dental activities. For this purpose, 15 dental students and 15 dental assistant trainees (all right-handed) were measured in a team. Data were analyzed using the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA), which was modified to evaluate objective data.…
Diffusion of single molecular and macromolecular probes during the free radical bulk polymerization of MMA : towards a better understanding of the Tr…
2016
Free radical bulk polymerizations exhibit complex kinetics due to the viscosity increase during the polymerization process. Especially the termination rate constant can be strongly influenced by the mobility of polymer chains in the polymerization mixture. As a consequence an autoacceleration period, the so-called Trommsdorff effect, can be observed often. In order to investigate this behaviour on a nanoscopic scale, we directly visualized the mobility of molecules and macromolecules in polymerizing MMA solutions using a combination of highly sensitive fluorescence correlation spectroscopy and widefield fluorescence microscopy. For this purpose, rather monodisperse PMMA chains were synthesi…
Bias and humidity effects on the ammonia sensing of perylene derivative/lutetium bisphthalocyanine MSDI heterojunctions
2016
International audience; In this paper, we prepared and studied sensors based on Molecular Semiconductor-Doped Insulator (MSDI) heterojunctions. These original devices are built with two stacked layers of molecular materials and exhibit very specific electrical and sensing properties. We studied the properties of a MSDI composed of the perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride, PTCDA, or the fluorinated perylenebisimine derivative, C4F7-PTCDI, as n-type molecular material sublayers, and LuPc2 as a p-type semiconductor top layer. Their response to ammonia was compared to that of a resistor formed of only the top layer of the MSDI (LuPc2). Ammonia increases the current in the MSDIs whereas it causes…

OVERVIEW OF ANALYTICAL PROCEDURES FOR FATTY AND RESIN ACIDS IN THE PAPERMAKING PROCESS
2012
This review describes the role of wood extractives, especially fatty and resin acids, in papermaking, as well as the importance of their removal from process waters. One of the main aims is also to illustrate versatile analysis methods for this purpose and highlight recent developments in corresponding applications. Most of the current methods require time-consuming and laborious sample pretreatment procedures prior to gas chromatography coupled either with flame ionization or mass selective detection. However, some faster, even online techniques with minimum sample pretreatment, are also available, mainly including high performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. The …
