Abstract yambo is an open source project aimed at studying excited state properties of condensed matter systems from first principles using many-body methods. As input, yambo requires ground state electronic structure data as computed by density functional theory codes such as Quantum ESPRESSO and Abinit. yambo’s capabilities include the calculation of linear response quantities (both independent-particle and including electron–hole interactions), quasi-particle corrections based on the GW formalism, optical absorption, and other spectroscopic quantities. Ievads: Tēmu par kognitīvajiem traucējumiem multiplās sklerozes pacientiem es izvēlējos tāpēc, ka tā ir ļoti aktuāla problēma, jo kognitīvie traucējumi var būtiski ietekmēt darbspējas, sociālo aktivitāti un aprūpes nepieciešamību. Darba mērķis: Izvērtēt kognitīvos traucējumus multiplās sklerozes pacientiem ar dažādu klīnisko norisi; Metodes un materiāli: Pētījumā analizēju 120 dažāda vecuma pacientus, no kuriem 60 multiplās sklerozes pacienti ar dažādu klīnisko norisi, kuri ārstējas Latvijas Jūras medicīnas centra Latvijas Multiplās sklerozes centrā un 60 pacienti kontroles grupa, kam nav diagnosticēta multiplā skleroze. Quantitative Cerebral Blood Flow Mapping in Stroke and During Mental Stimulation After Intravenous Injection of 195mAu

The new short life isotope 195mAu has some suitable features for quantitative cerebral blood flow mapping. Its half-life is 30.5 s; therefore an injection can be repeated after 3 min (six half-lives) without any need for background subtraction and with the same specific activity. The calculated whole body radiation dose after three successive administrations of 25 mCi 195mAu amounts to 50 mrad. In comparison to a 99mTc pertechnetate injection it is estimated that the dose to the patients is reduced by a factor of eight (Garcia et al. 1981).

A large-energy-gap oxide topological insulator based on the superconductor BaBiO3

Mixed-valent perovskite oxides based on BaBiO3 (BBO) are, like cuperates, well-known high-Tc superconductors. Recent ab inito calculations have assigned the high-Tc superconductivity to a correlation-enhanced electron--phonon coupling mechanism, stimulating the prediction and synthesis of new superconductor candidates among mixed-valent thallium perovskites. Existing superconductivity has meant that research has mainly focused on hole-doped compounds, leaving electron-doped compounds relatively unexplored. Here we demonstrate through ab inito calculations that BBO emerges as a topological insulator (TI) in the electron-doped region, where the spin-orbit coupling (SOC) effect is significant.…

CLL with deletion 17p (17p-) or refractory to fludarabine (F)-based regimens is characterized by poor prognosis. The cooperative French/German CLL2O study aimed at achieving deep and durable response in this population by combining alemtuzumab (A) and dexamethasone (D) induction, followed by consolidation with A maintenance or allogeneic stem-cell transplantation (allo-SCT). Induction treatment consisted of subcutaneous A (30mg, 3x weekly) combined with oral D (40 mg days 1-4 and 15-18), both at 28 day cycles, and prophylactic pegfilgrastim 6 mg on days 1 and 15.
