Effects of fourth-order fiber dispersion on ultrashort parabolic optical pulses in the normal dispersion regime
2011
International audience; We propose a new method for the generation of both triangular-shaped optical pulses and flat-top, coherent supercontinuum spectra using the effect of fourth-order dispersion on parabolic pulses in a passive, normally dispersive highly nonlinear fiber. The pulse re-shaping process is described qualitatively and is compared to numerical simulations.
Characterization of Locally Excited and Charge-Transfer States of the Anticancer Drug Lapatinib by Ultrafast Spectroscopy and Computational Studies
2020
[EN] Lapatinib (LAP) is an anticancer drug, which is metabolized to theN- and O-dealkylated products (N-LAP andO-LAP, respectively). In view of the photosensitizing potential of related drugs, a complete experimental and theoretical study has been performed on LAP,N-LAP andO-LAP, both in solution and upon complexation with human serum albumin (HSA). In organic solvents, coplanar locally excited (LE) emissive states are generated; they rapidly evolve towards twisted intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) states. By contrast, within HSA only LE states are detected. Accordingly, femtosecond transient absorption reveals a very fast switching (ca. 2 ps) from LE (lambda(max)=550 nm) to ICT states (…
Elastic Wave Near-Cloaking
2020
Cloaking elastic waves has, in contrast to the cloaking of electromagnetic waves, remained a fundamental challenge: the latter successfully uses the invariance of Maxwell's equations, from which the field of transformational optics has emerged, whereas the elastic Navier equations are not invariant under coordinate transformations. Our aim is to overcome this challenge, at least in practical terms, and thereby unlock applications in mechanics, ultrasound, vibration mitigation, non-destructive evaluation and elastic wave control. We achieve near-cloaking by recognising that, despite the lack of invariance, a decoupling into a system of form invariant potential equations together with a quant…
Projekts: SIA "EDLI Optika" izveide
2016
Maģistra darbā „Projekts: SIA „EDLI Optika” izveide” izstrādāts specializēta mazumtirdzniecības uzņēmuma dibināšanas plāns. Projekta mērķis ir optikas preču un pakalpojumu pieejamības veicināšana Aizkraukles novadā un tuvējos reģionos, atverot optikas salonu „EDLI Optika” Aizkrauklē, Spīdolas ielā 18. Finanšu aprēķini veikti trīs gadu griezumā no projekta uzsākšanas 2017. gada 1. janvārī līdz 2019. gada 31. decembrim. Projekta idejas realizēšanā iesaistīts 2 īpašnieki, kas daļēji nodrošina idejas īstenošanai nepieciešamos finanšu līdzekļus. Optikas salona „EDLI Optika” piedāvāto preču un pakalpojumu klāsts ietvers: briļļu, saulesbriļļu un kontaktlēcu tirdzniecību, redzes pārbaužu veikšanu u…
Projekts: Uzņēmuma SIA "Flower Pot Style" dibināšana
2019
Sekojot patērētāju vēlmēm ziedu veikala piedāvājumā tiks iekļauti ne tikai jau pierastie grieztie ziedu un to kompozīcijas, bet a…

Factors Associated with Mortality in Patients Experiencing First Episodes of Acquired Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (aTTP). Results of the Span…
2019
Introduction: Acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (aTTP) is a rare, but life-threatening, hematological disorder characterized by severe thrombocytopenia, hemolytic microangiopathic anemia, and frequent organ damage. The underlying pathophysiology of aTTP is a functional deficiency of plasma ADAMTS13 activity caused by antibodies directed against the ADAMTS13 protease. Despite plasma exchange (PEX) and immunosuppression with corticosteroids, and, more recently, rituximab, which achieve remission in most patients with aTTP, 10-20% of patients are refractory to treatment and die as a result of disease progression. Most of such deaths occur during first episodes of aTTP, as subsequent…
Atypical presentations of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura in middle-aged women with recurrent cerebral macrovascular thrombosis: a case report
2015
Dear Editor, In the current clinical practice, minimal criteria to define thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) are the presence of signs of microangiopathic haemolytic anaemia and low platelet (PLT) count [1]. TTP relapses (20–50 % of cases) are defined as the recurrence of acute TTP symptoms 30 days after the first episode, while exacerbations occur within 30 days [2]. We here report on an atypical case of acquired TTP where minimal criteria were met only after many recurrent macrovascular ischemic events. A 42-year old Caucasian woman with a history of coronary and cerebral ischemic events was admitted on June 2013, following a recurrent transient ischemic attack (TIA). She had sever…
Floquet analysis of excitations in materials
2019
Abstract Controlled excitation of materials can transiently induce changed or novel properties with many fundamental and technological implications. Especially, the concept of Floquet engineering and the manipulation of the electronic structure via dressing with external lasers have attracted some recent interest. Here we review the progress made in defining Floquet material properties and give a special focus on their signatures in experimental observables as well as considering recent experiments realizing Floquet phases in solid state materials. We discuss how a wide range of experiments with non-equilibrium electronic structure can be viewed by employing Floquet theory as an analysis to…
Phonon Driven Floquet Matter.
2018
The effect of electron–phonon coupling in materials can be interpreted as a dressing of the electronic structure by the lattice vibration, leading to vibrational replicas and hybridization of electronic states. In solids, a resonantly excited coherent phonon leads to a periodic oscillation of the atomic lattice in a crystal structure bringing the material into a nonequilibrium electronic configuration. Periodically oscillating quantum systems can be understood in terms of Floquet theory, which has a long tradition in the study of semiclassical light-matter interaction. Here, we show that the concepts of Floquet analysis can be applied to coherent lattice vibrations. This coupling leads to p…
