The Figure of Patriarch Alexius I in the Context of Communication Between the Serbian Diaspora and the Serbian Orthodox Church

Abstract This article discusses peculiarities of trilateral relations between the Serbian diaspora in the United States, the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Moscow Patriarchate in the postwar period and in the 1960s. The work is primarily based on textual analysis of correspondence between Serbian American-Canadian Bishop Dionysius and Patriarch Alexius I. It examines the activities of the Serbian diaspora in achieving improvements in the situation of the Church in Yugoslavia, its attempts to influence the “Macedonian Church issue”, as well as the contacts of bishop Dionysius with the ROC after the schism within SOC in America in 1963.

Possible origin and demographic asset of a population of Quercus trojana Webb subsp. trojana (Fagaceae) in the wood of Ficuzza (Palermo, Sicily). The first record of Macedonian oak in Sicily is reported. The finding consists of 73 adult and 4 young individuals. A morphometric analysis of all of them, along with an assessment of their phytosanitary status was carried out. They all grow between 700 and 850 m a.s.l. on a 2,30 ha area, characterized by a land mosaic of shrubland and forest patches. Notwithstanding two years of researches, no ultimate proof has been found on their alien status. Attempt on the Life of the King Alexander I in Marseille – Circumstances – Organizers – Consequences. Analysis of the Problem

The main goal of this paper is to present the circumstances of an attempt on the life of the King Alexander I Karađorđevic, who was killed by terrorists from Macedonian organization VMRO in 1934, during his official visit in France. The author indicated that many researchers were focused mainly on the following questions: who were the organizers and co-organizers of the assassination attempt? What was the goal of terrorists: assassination of the King of Yugoslavia or assassination of Louis Barthou, minister of foreign affairs of France?
