Electrocatalytic properties of manganese and cobalt polyporphine films toward oxygen reduction reaction

2018

International audience; Novel member of polymetalloporphines, namely manganese polymetalloporphine of type I (pMnP-I) obtained by ion exchange from magnesium polyporphine of type I (pMgP-I) is reported for the first time and compared to its cobalt analogue (pCoP-I). Both polymer films have been obtained via two-step procedure: demetaladon of the pMgP-I electrode film via its exposure to trifluoroacetic acid solution, resulting in formation of the metal-free polyporphine of type I (pH(2)P-I) followed by electrochemically induced incorporation of Co or Mn ions from the acetonitrile solution of cobalt and manganese perchlorates. A further oxidative transformation of pCoP-I, polymer films has l…

Co-precipitation of Mg-doped Ni0.8Co0.1Mn0.1(OH)₂:effect of magnesium doping and washing on the battery cell performance

2023

Co-precipitation of Ni0.8Co0.1Mn0.1(OH)2 (NCM811) and Mg-doped (0.25 wt% and 0.5 wt%) NCM811 precursors is carried out from concentrated metal sulphate solutions. In this paper, the aim is to study the role of magnesium dopant in the co-precipitation step of NCM811, the cathode active material and further the Li-ion battery cell performance. Based on the results, magnesium was fully co-precipitated in the NCM811 precursors, as expected from thermodynamic calculations. The presence of magnesium in these precursors was also confirmed by several characterization methods and magnesium was evenly distributed in the sample. It was observed that tapped density decreased and surface area increased …

Gene expression and stress response in sea urchin embryos with skeleton defects caused by magnesium deprivation.

2012

Echinoderms have an extensive endoskeleton composed of magnesian calcite, a form of calcium carbonate that contains small amounts of magnesium carbonate and occluded matrix proteins [1]. In the frame of the Biomintec European Project focused on the understanding of basic biomineralization mechanisms for the design of novel strategies in nano-biotechnology, we studied the effects of magnesium deprivation on Arbacia lixula sea urchin embryo development. Embryos were morphologically monitored, evaluating developmental abnormalities at different endpoints (3, 6, 24, 48 and 72 hours). In parallel, the spatial transcriptional levels of a skeleton matrix protein (msp130) and the protein synthesis …

Katalizatory i proces koordynacyjnej polimeryzacji etylenu - eksperyment i teoria

2004

Badania eksperymentalne i teoretyczne koordynacyjnej polimeryzacji etylenu przeprowadzono wobec katalizatorów otrzymanych z prekursorów - kompleksów halogenków Ti, Zr, Hf, V z organicznymi zasadami Lewisa, nośnika magnezowego [MgCl2(THF)2] i związków glinoorganicznych. Określono zależnosć pomiędzy rodzajem halogenków w prekursorze a aktywnością katalizatora wanadowego. Ustalono profile energetyczne reakcji insercji i terminacji (beta-eliminacji) oraz przeniesienia atomu wodoru beta. Obliczone wartości barier insercji, a także energii wiązania etylenu do centrum aktywnego dobrze korelują z wynikami polimeryzacji. Stwierdzono występowanie w centrach aktywnych oddziaływań agostycznych, które o…

Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy determination of trace element composition of argan oil.

2011

A methodology based on inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) after microwave assisted acid digestion has been developed to determine the trace element content of Moroccan argan oil. Limit of detection values equal or lower than few mg/kg were obtained for all elements under study. To assure the accuracy of the whole procedure, recovery studies were carried out on argan oil samples spiked at different concentration levels from 10 to 200 µg/L. Quantitative average recovery values were obtained for all elements evaluated, demonstrating the suitability of this methodology for the determination of trace elements in argan oil samples. Aluminum, calcium, chromium, iro…

Allosteric regulation by Mg2+ of the vacuolar H(+)-PPase from Acer pseudoplatanus cells. Ca2+/Mg2+ interactions.

1996

The tonoplast H(+)-PPase was previously characterized in Acer pseudoplatanus cells (Pugin et al (1991) Plant Sci 73, 23-34; Fraichard et al (1993) Plant Physiol Biochem 31, 349-359). Tonoplast vesicles were obtained from vacuoles isolated from protoplasts of A pseudoplatanus suspension cultures and used to study kinetic effects of Mg2+ and Ca2+ on PPi hydrolysis. The concentrations of ionic species (free Mg2+, free PPi, and MgPPi complexes) were calculated with apparent dissociation constants of 55.3 microM for MgPPi and 59.6 microM for CaPPi. Our results indicated that the substrate of the tonoplast PPase was a MgPPi complex and that free Mg2+ was essential for PPi hydrolysis. With fixed f…

Effect of Mg2+ ions on competitive metal ions adsorption/desorption on magnesium ferrite: Mechanism, reusability and stability studies

2021

Abstract The adsorption behavior of magnesium ferrite in single- and multicomponent metal ions solutions in the presence of Mg2+ ions were studied. A dramatic decrease in the adsorption capacity of magnesium ferrite towards Mn2+, Co2+, and Ni2+ ions for comparison study of single- and multicomponent solutions was established. The affinity of the sorbent in accordance with the maximum sorption capacities increases in the following order Cu2+ > Co2+ > Ni2+ > Mn2+. High efficiency of magnesium ferrite regeneration (~100%) with aqueous solutions of magnesium chloride in the concentration range of 0.001–0.1 M was shown. The low degree of toxic metal ions desorption combined with XRD, IR spectros…

Decomposition of nitrous oxide upon nickel oxide-magnesium oxide solid solutions

1966

The decomposition of N 2 O has been studied over MgO catalysts, doped with NiO and NiO + Li 2 O from 1 to 10% (atomic). For pure MgO, activity is low, but is enhanced by addition of Ni 2+ ions. The apparent activation energy is reduced from 35 kcal/mole for pure MgO, to about 18 kcal/mole. Oxygen acts as a poison, and it is chemisorbed on the catalyst. The presence of lithium greatly increases the apparent activation energy. The results are interpreted in terms of oxygen chemisorption and of its influence on the course of the reaction.

Successful treatment of paraquat poisoning: activated charcoal per os and "continuous hemoperfusion".

1982

AbstractIngestion of paraquat results in an extremely dangerous poisoning. The first aim is to clear the gastrointestinal tract by inducing emesis and performing gastric/gut lavage; as much activated charcoal as possible should be administered per os and as quickly as possible. The best measure to eliminate paraquat from blood and tissue is hemoperfusion with coated activated charcoal; it has to be performed in the sense of “continuous hemoperfusion” about 8 h/d over a period of 2–3 weeks. These measures give a chance to lower the lethality of paraquat poisoning.
