2009
The synthesis of four discrete tetranuclear complexes {[Ni(II)(L(2))][ClO(4)]}(4).MeCN (1), {[Cu(II)(L(1))(O(3)SCF(3))]}(4).H(2)O (), {[Cu(II)(L(3))(OClO(3))]}(4).MeCN () and {[Cu(II)(L(4))][ClO(4)]}(4).3MeCN.4H(2)O (4), supported by a closely similar group of carboxylate-appended (2-pyridyl)alkylamine ligands [L(1)(-): 3-[N-methyl-{2-(pyridin-2-yl)ethyl}amino]propionate; L(2)(-): 3-[(2-(pyridin-2-yl)ethyl){2-(pyridin-2-yl)methyl}amino]propionate; L(3)(-): 3-[N-isopropyl-{2-(pyridin-2-yl)methyl}amino]propionate and L(4)(2-): 3-[N-{2-(pyridin-2-yl)methyl}amino]-bis(propionate)] is described. Structural characterization reveals that each Ni(II) centre in 1 has square-pyramidal Ni(II)N(3)O(2) …
Radical cation salts based on BEDT-TTF and the paramagnetic anion [Cr(NCS)6]3−
1999
Abstract A new radical cation salt formulated as (ET)5.5[Cr(NCS)6] (ET = BEDT-TTF = bis(ethylene)dithiotetrathiafulvalene) has been synthesised and characterised by X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. The structure shows the presence of alternating layers of the ET units and mixed layers of anions and an isolated ET molecule. The magnetic susceptibility data in the temperature range 2–300 K show a Curie law with C = 1.771 cm3.K.mol−1 and Nα = 1.20.10−5 cm3.mol−1, in agreement with the presence of isolated Cr(III) without any contribution from the organic part.

The work in this report describes the syntheses, characterization, crystal structures and magnetic properties of eight linear trinickel(ii) compounds of the composition [Ni(II)3(L(sal-pyr))2(propionate)4] (), [Ni(II)3(L(sal-pyr))2(benzoate)4]·CH3CN (), [Ni(II)3(L(sal-pip))2(acetate)4]·2CH3CN (), [Ni(II)3(L(sal-pip))2(propionate)4] (), [Ni(II)3(L(sal-pip))2(benzoate)4]·CH2Cl2 (), [Ni(II)3(L(sal-mor))2(propionate)4] (), [Ni(II)3(L(sal-mor))2(benzoate)4]·3CH2Cl2 () and [Ni(II)3(L(sal-mor))2(o-Cl-benzoate)4]·2CH3CN·2H2O (), where HL(sal-pyr), HL(sal-pip) and HL(sal-mor) are the 1 : 1 condensation products of salicylaldehyde and 1-(2-aminoethyl)-pyrrolidine, 1-(2-aminoethyl)-piperidine and 4-(2-…
Ferromagnetic coupling in a one-dimensional molecular railroad copper(II) azido compound containing a defective double cubane motif.
2001
The compound [Cu2(bpm)2(N3)4]n (bpm = bis(pyrazol-1−yl)methane) shows three unique coordination modes (μ1,1-, μ1,1,1-, μ1,1,3-N3) and ferromagnetic interaction between the copper(II) ions. The structure of the compound exhibits a one-dimensional railroad polymer made up of repeating defective dicubane-type units linked by μ1,1,3-N3 bridges.

A series of neutral oxamato-bridged heterobimetallic chains of general formula [MCu(L(x)2 (S)2] · p S · q H2O [p = 0-1, q = 0-2.5; L1 = N-2,6-dimethylphenyloxamate, S = DMF with M = Mn (1a) and Co (1b); L2 = N-2,6-diethylphenyloxamate, S = DMF with M = Mn (2a) and Co (2b) or S = DMSO with M = Mn (2c) and Co (2 d); L3 = N-2,6-diisopropylphenyloxamate, S = DMF with M = Mn (3a) and Co (3b) or S = DMSO with M = Mn (3c) and Co (3d)] were prepared by treating the corresponding anionic oxamatocopper(II) complexes [Cu(L(x))(2)]2- (x = 1-3) with M(2+) cations (M = Mn and Co) in DMF or DMSO as the solvent. The single-crystal X-ray structures of 2a and 3a reveal the occurrence of well-isolated, zigzag…
ChemInform Abstract: Dynamic Magnetic MOFs
2013
In this review we combine the use of coordination chemistry with the concepts of molecular magnetism to design magnetic Metal–Organic Frameworks (MOFs) in which the crystalline network undergoes a dynamic change upon application of an external stimulus. The various approaches so far developed to prepare these kinds of chemically or physically responsive MOFs with tunable magnetic properties are presented.
Pentachloro(pyrazine)rhenate(iv) complex as precursor of heterobimetallic pyrazine-containing ReIV2MII (M = Ni, Cu) species: synthesis, crystal struc…
2008
Three novel Re(IV) mononuclear complexes of formulae NBu4[ReC15(pyz)] (1), NH2Me2[ReCl5(pyz)] (2) and NH4[ReCl5(pyz)].0.75H2O (3), (pyz being pyrazine; NBu4+ = tetra-n-butylammonium cation, NH2Me2+ = dimethylammonium cation and NH4+ = ammonium cation), were synthesized by ligand substitution reaction from [ReCl6]2- anion and pyrazine in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). In addition, two new heterobimetallic compounds, the salt namely [ReCl5(pyz)]2[Ni(cyclam)](4) (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) and the heterotrinuclear [{ReCl5(mu-pyz)}2Cu(DMF)4] (5) complex, were prepared by using as precursor 1 and 3, respectively. Compounds 1-5 were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction…
Enantioselective self-assembly of antiferromagnetic hexacopper(ii) wheels with chiral amino acid oxamates
2013
The Cu(2+)-mediated self-assembly of oxamato-based ligands derived from either the (S)- or (R)-enantiomers of the amino acid valine leads to the formation of two antiferromagnetically coupled homochiral anionic hexacopper(II) wheels in the presence of templating tetramethylammonium countercations.
Exploring the exchange interaction in a mixed valence {CoII4CoIII2} hexanuclear cluster with novel topology
2012
Abstract Reaction between [Co2(μ-OH2)(μ-Piv)2(Piv)2(HPiv)4] and a (salicylidene)ethanolamine ligand under ambient reaction conditions, affords hexanuclear complexes [CoIII2CoII4(Piv)8(HPiv)2(L)2(OH)2] (1–2). Both products have been characterized crystallographically and found to be mixed-valent, containing divalent and trivalent Co centers. Down to 30 K, the variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility data are dominated by the single-ion properties of high spin Co(II) centers with distorted-octahedral coordination geometries. Below this temperature, the effect of intramolecular ferromagnetic exchange interactions becomes apparent. Magnetic data has been analyzed in terms of ground isolated…
