Adriamycin Permeability of the Rat Bladder under Different Conditions

1983

Abstract Fifty female Sprague-Dawley rats were treated with 1.4 or 2.4 mg. adriamycin intravesically. Radioimmunological measurement of serum concentrations were performed up to 3 hours post-instillation in normal bladder mucosa, cystitis, and after electrocoagulation, under different filling conditions, as well as with the use of a detergent (Tween 80). The serum concentrations achieved were markedly higher after electrocoagulation or cystitis; altogether they reached only 1/6,000 of the instilled concentration. These studies on the rat bladder suggest that perioperative instillation of adriamycin to prevent recurrence is not contraindicated shortly before or after transurethral resection …

Exploiting the Potential of New Coordination Frameworks for Technological Applications – from Temperature Sensing to Magnetic Storage

2022

A magnetic look into the protecting layer of Au25 clusters

2016

The field of molecular metal clusters protected by organothiolates is experiencing a very rapid growth. So far, however, a clear understanding of the fine interactions between the cluster core and the capping monolayer has remained elusive, despite the importance of the latter in interfacing the former to the surrounding medium. Here, we describe a very sensitive methodology that enables comprehensive assessment of these interactions. Pulse electron nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) was employed to study the interaction of the unpaired electron with the protons of the alkanethiolate ligands in four structurally related paramagnetic Au25(SR)0 18 clusters (R ¼ ethyl, propyl, butyl, 2-methylpro…

Molecular Spintronic Devices: from Molecular Spin Valves to Spin-OLEDs

2017

Effect of molecular Stokes shift on polariton dynamics

2021

When the enhanced electromagnetic field of a confined light mode interacts with photoactive molecules, the system can be driven into the regime of strong coupling, where new hybrid light–matter states, polaritons, are formed. Polaritons, manifested by the Rabi split in the dispersion, have shown potential for controlling the chemistry of the coupled molecules. Here, we show by angle-resolved steady-state experiments accompanied by multi-scale molecular dynamics simulations that the molecular Stokes shift plays a significant role in the relaxation of polaritons formed by organic molecules embedded in a polymer matrix within metallic Fabry–Pérot cavities. Our results suggest that in the case …

NMR and $\mu^{+}$SR detection of unconventional spin dynamics in Er(trensal) and Dy(trensal) molecular magnets

2019

Measurements of proton nuclear magnetic resonance (H1NMR) spectra and relaxation and of muon spin relaxation (μ+SR) have been performed as a function of temperature and external magnetic field on two isostructural lanthanide complexes, Er(trensal) and Dy(trensal) [where H3trensal=2,2′,2′′-tris-(salicylideneimino)triethylamine], featuring crystallographically imposed trigonal symmetry. Both the nuclear 1/T1 and muon λ longitudinal relaxation rates (LRRs) exhibit a peak for temperatures T < 30 K, associated to the slowing down of the spin dynamics, and the width of the NMR absorption spectra starts to increase significantly at T ∼50 K, a temperature sizably higher than the one of the LRR p…

Optical properties and photosensitivity of vacuum synthesized Ge-doped sol-gel amorphous SiO/sub 2/

2005

We report optical and electron paramagnetic resonance investigations of gamma ray irradiation effects in sol-gel Ge-doped amorphous SiO/sub 2/. The studied materials have Ge-doping levels up to 10/sup 4/ molar part per million and were densified by two routes differing for the atmosphere: O/sub 2/+N/sub 2/ or vacuum. The obtained results evidence that irradiation affects matrix sites inducing paramagnetic defects. Furthermore, the comparison between the two densification procedures shows that vacuum atmosphere induces higher radiation sensitivity.
