OP0204 Autophagy and Unfolded Protein Response: A Fine Balance that can Influence the Pathogenesis of Ankylosing Spondylitis and Inflammatory Bowel D…

2015

Background We have shown an increase in the unfolded protein response (UPR) with decreased ERAP1 or ERAP2 function in an in vitro system. Similarly UPR has been demonstrated to correlate with onset of disease in the HLA-B27 rat model. UPR has been difficult to demonstrate in the gut of AS patients but autophagy is upregulated. ERAP2 is associated with both AS and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Objectives Here we explore the moderating effect of autophagy on UPR. Specifically we study the impact of suppressing autophagy on UPR. Methods Lamina Propria Mononuclear cells (LPMC) were isolated from terminal ileal biopsies of 10 AS patients. Autophagy was suppressed with 2 agents anisomycin and…

Searches for heavy neutrinos from Z decays

1992

We have searched for possible fourth family heavy neutrinos, pair produced in Z0 decays, in a sample of about 112 000 hadronic Z0 final states collected with the DELPHI detector. For all mixing matrix elements we exclude a new Dirac neutrino lighter than 44.5 GeV at a 95% confidence level, if the neutrino couples to the electron or muon family, and lighter than 44.0 GeV, if the neutrino couples to the tau family. Depending on the values of the mixing element and to which lepton family the neutrino couples, we obtain mass limits up to 46.2 GeV. For all mixing matrix elements we exclude a new Majorana neutrino lighter than 39.0 GeV, if it couples to the electron or the muon family, and lighte…

Identification and diagnosis of patients with familial chylomicronaemia syndrome (FCS): Expert panel recommendations and proposal of an "FCS score".

2018

Familial chylomicronaemia syndrome (FCS) is a rare, inherited disorder characterised by impaired clearance of triglyceride (TG)-rich lipoproteins from plasma, leading to severe hypertriglyceridaemia (HTG) and a markedly increased risk of acute pancreatitis. It is due to the lack of lipoprotein lipase (LPL) function, resulting from recessive loss of function mutations in the genes coding LPL or its modulators. A large overlap in the phenotype between FCS and multifactorial chylomicronaemia syndrome (MCS) contributes to the inconsistency in how patients are diagnosed and managed worldwide, whereas the incidence of acute hypertriglyceridaemic pancreatitis is more frequent in FCS. A panel of Eu…

Contribution à la connaissance de l'implantation Burgonde en Gaule au Ve siècle : à propos de découvertes récentes de fibules zoomorphes

2011

The recent discovery of three horse shaped fibulae – a pair with a cavalryman from Ecrille in the Jura and a fibula from the La Chambre sector in Savoie as well as a bird shaped fibula from Charpey in the Drome, all dating from the second half of the 5th century or around 500 AD, provide valuable references in the context of the Burgundian settlement in the Centre-East and the South-East of Gaul. The map is still incomplete notably for the area to the south of Lyon, precisely where La Chambre and Charpey are located. Relating to the Ecrille discovery, it provides new information in relation to this defended site underlining its importance.

Honest mistake or perhaps not: The role of descriptive and injunctive norms on the magnitude of dishonesty

2021

Trivial acts of dishonesty are very prevalent in everyday life and have severe economic and societal consequences. The present study aims to examine the role of descriptive and injunctive norms in minor and major dishonesty under ambiguity. We devised a novel experimental design in which rule violations can be the result of honest mistakes or various dishonest processes. In this ambiguous context, we observed a high prevalence of minor rule violations at baseline. In two experiments, exposure to increased peer cheating (i.e., negative descriptive norms) promoted major rule violations, whereas the presence of explicit or subtle rule reminders (i.e., injunctive norms) marginally reduced minor…

Major ions and trace elements composition of rainwater around the two industrial areas of Milazzo and Priolo Gargallo (Sicily - Italy)

2023

This database shows the concentration of major ions and trace elements in rainwater from two polluted industrial areas of Sicily, Milazzo and Priolo Gargallo, collected from June 2018 to July 2019, through a network of 11 bulk collectors to sample bulk atmospheric deposition, for a total of 131 samples collected. Different sources, both natural and anthropogenic, for both major ions and trace elements have been recognised. This study also highlighted some critical issues with common methods of sampling and analysing atmospheric deposition. The analysis and comparison of two different aliquots, filtered and unfiltered rainwater, has shown that the filtration method removes from the sample a …

Chemistry of atmospheric depositions over two polluted industrial areas of Sicily (Italy)

2021

Dry and wet depositions provide the pathways through which particles and gases emitted into the atmosphere return to the Earth’s surface. Bulk deposition is defined as the sum of dry and wet deposition, which is characterized by water-soluble and insoluble chemical species. Recent studies (e.g. Castillo et al., 2017) showed that most of the atmospheric deposition in Europe occurs in the wet form, but in southern European regions the role of dry contribution can be as significant as that of wet deposition. In the framework of the multidisciplinary project “CISAS” (Centro Internazionale di Studi Avanzati su Ambiente, ecosistema e Salute umana), bulk depositions were monthly sampled over two p…
