A comparison of STARFM and an unmixing-based algorithm for Landsat and MODIS data fusion
2015
article i nfo The focus of the current study is to compare data fusion methods applied to sensors with medium- and high- spatial resolutions. Two documented methods are applied, the spatial and temporal adaptive reflectance fusion model (STARFM) and an unmixing-based method which proposes a Bayesian formulation to incorporate prior spectral information.Furthermore, thestrengths of both algorithms arecombined ina novel data fusionmethod: the Spatial and Temporal Reflectance Unmixing Model (STRUM). The potential of each method is demonstrated using simulation imagery and Landsat and MODIS imagery. The theoretical basis of the algorithms causes STARFM and STRUM to produce Landsat-like reflecta…
Co-citation Percentile Rank and JYUcite : a new network-standardized output-level citation influence metric and its implementation using Dimensions A…
2022
AbstractJudging value of scholarly outputs quantitatively remains a difficult but unavoidable challenge. Most of the proposed solutions suffer from three fundamental shortcomings: they involve (i) the concept of journal, in one way or another, (ii) calculating arithmetic averages from extremely skewed distributions, and (iii) binning data by calendar year. Here, we introduce a new metric Co-citation Percentile Rank (CPR), that relates the current citation rate of the target output taken at resolution of days since first citable, to the distribution of current citation rates of outputs in its co-citation set, as its percentile rank in that set. We explore some of its properties with an examp…
Bayesian Metanetwork for Context-Sensitive Feature Relevance
2006
Bayesian Networks are proven to be a comprehensive model to describe causal relationships among domain attributes with probabilistic measure of appropriate conditional dependency. However, depending on task and context, many attributes of the model might not be relevant. If a network has been learned across multiple contexts then all uncovered conditional dependencies are averaged over all contexts and cannot guarantee high predictive accuracy when applied to a concrete case. We are considering a context as a set of contextual attributes, which are not directly effect probability distribution of the target attributes, but they effect on a “relevance” of the predictive attributes towards tar…
Divisive normalization image quality metric revisited.
2010
Structural similarity metrics and information-theory-based metrics have been proposed as completely different alternatives to the traditional metrics based on error visibility and human vision models. Three basic criticisms were raised against the traditional error visibility approach: (1) it is based on near-threshold performance, (2) its geometric meaning may be limited, and (3) stationary pooling strategies may not be statistically justified. These criticisms and the good performance of structural and information-theory-based metrics have popularized the idea of their superiority over the error visibility approach. In this work we experimentally or analytically show that the above critic…
Mixed-aspect fractal surfaces
2013
In order to provide accurate tools to model original surfaces in a Computer Aided Geometric Design context, we develop a formalism based on iterated function systems. This model enables us to represent both smooth and fractal free-form curves and surfaces. But, because of the self-similarity property underlying the iterated function systems, curves and surfaces can only have homogeneous roughness. The aim of our work was to elaborate a method to build parametric shapes (curves, surfaces, ...) with a non-uniform local aspect: every point is assigned a ''geometric texture'' that evolves continuously from a smooth to a rough aspect. The principle is to blend shapes with uniform aspects to defi…
La formalisation de l'éthique:un outil stratégique pertinent pour l'entreprise
2000
Ethical formalization is a statement setting down corporate values, principles and beliefs. Analysis of ethics policies in large France based companies shows that it is becoming a new dimension of management completing corporate strategy. The study of these ethical formal policies is followed by a criticism.
La realidad personal en perspectiva neurocientífica. La aportación zubiriana
2015
A fractional-order model for aging materials: An application to concrete
2018
Abstract In this paper, the hereditariness of aging materials is modeled within the framework of fractional calculus of variable order. A relevant application is made for the long-term behavior of concrete, for which the creep function is evaluated with the aid of Model B3. The corresponding relaxation function is derived through the Volterra iterated kernels and a comparison with the numerically-obtained relaxation function of Model B3 is also reported. The proposed fractional hereditary aging model (FHAM) for concretes leads to a relaxation function that fully agrees with the well-established Model B3. Furthermore, the FHAM takes full advantage of the formalism of fractional-order calculu…
Density-functional tight-binding for beginners
2009
This article is a pedagogical introduction to density-functional tight-binding (DFTB) method. We derive it from the density-functional theory, give the details behind the tight-binding formalism, and give practical recipes for parametrization: how to calculate pseudo-atomic orbitals and matrix elements, and especially how to systematically fit the short-range repulsions. Our scope is neither to provide a historical review nor to make performance comparisons, but to give beginner's guide for this approximate, but in many ways invaluable, electronic structure simulation method--now freely available as an open-source software package, hotbit.
Efficient Approach for Simulating Distorted Materials
2010
The operation principles of nanoscale devices are based upon both electronic and mechanical properties of materials. Because these properties can be coupled, they need to be investigated simultaneously. At this moment, however, the electronic structure calculations with custom-made long-range mechanical distortions are impossible, or expensive at best. Here we present a unified formalism to solve exactly the electronic structures of nanomaterials with versatile distortions. We illustrate the formalism by investigating twisted armchair graphene nanoribbons with the least possible number of atoms. Apart from enabling versatile material distortions, the formalism is capable of reducing computa…
