The malonate complex of formula [Pr2(C3H2O4)3(H2O)3]·2H2O (1) was prepared and his crystal structure determined by X-ray diffraction methods. 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21, Z = 4, with unit cell parameters a = 7.631(2), b = 12.899(4), c = 8.923(2) A and β = 101.11(3)°. 1 is a polymer which grows in the (110) plane. The hydrogen bond stabilizes the crystal structure forming a three-dimensional network. The two non-equivalent praseodymium(III) ions have different environments. Finally, the thermal behaviour and magnetic properties were investigated.

The synthesis, structural characterization and thermal study of new coordination polymers (CPs) of formula [Ln2(mal)3(H2O)5]·2H2O [Ln = Ho (1·2H2O), Tb (1a), Dy (1b), Er (1c) and Yb (1d); mal = malonate], [Ln2(mal)3(H2O)6] [Ln = Sm (2) and Ce (2a)], [Ce2(mal)3(H2O)6]·2H2O (3·2H2O) and [Ce2(mal)3(H2O)3]·2H2O (4·2H2O) are presented. Description of the final instar of Trichomalopsis peregrina (Hymenoptera, Pteromalidae), with data and comments on the preimaginal stages

The preimaginal stages of T. peregrina are described. The egg displays a sculptured chorion, which is found only on those deposited externally. The immature larvae are characterized by their peculiarities in (a) a setose ring on the thoracic and abdominal segments, (b) an anal notch and (c) size and the sensory structures of the head capsule. The final instar is described and illustrated. Morphological structures of diagnostic value are discussed. Background To find out the frequency of extraction in general, in Class I, Class II Class III patients, and to compare the frequency of extraction among sex and age. Material and methods 550 cases were selected retrospectively having detailed case history, complete records of facial photographs, lateral cephalogram, orthopantomographs and study models. Frequency of extraction was evaluated separately for class I, class II and class III malocclusion and for sex and ages, using the records collected. Film forming colloidal dispersions can be conceived as a material composed of interpenetrating hydrophobic (polymer) and hydrophilic (partially broken interfaces) phases where the transport properties of one phase are influenced by the geometric confinement effect imposed by the other. Fifty farmers using chemical pesticides and 60 unexposed control men participated in this study. Anti-obesity properties of the strain Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis CECT 8145 in Zücker fatty rats

We evaluated the effect of oral administration of Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis CECT 8145 strain in Zücker fatty rats. The Zücker fatty rats were randomly divided into two groups (n=10 each) and administered either B. animalis subsp. lactis CECT 8145 (1010 cfu/day) suspended in skim milk, or skim milk alone (control group). Each treatment was administered in drinking bottles from week 5 until week 17 of age. A lean Zücker rat group (standard group) was included to provide normal values for the Zücker strain. Abstract Objective: To determine the head posture and cephalometric characteristics in oral breathing children. Materials and Methods: Lateral cephalograms taken in natural head posture of 35 oral breathing patients (OB) (mean age 8.8 ± 2.2 years SD; range 5–13 years) and of 35 patients with varied malocclusions and physiological breathing (PB) (mean age 9.7 ± 1.6 years SD; range 7–13 years) were examined.
