Partial wave analysis inK-matrix formalism

1995

A description is given of the K-matrix formalism. The formalism, which is normally applied to two-body scattering processes, is generalized to production of two-body channels with finalstate interactions. A multi-channel treatment of production of resonances has been worked out in the P-vector approach of Aitchison. An alternative approach, derived from the P-vector, gives the production amplitude as a product of the T-matrix for a two-body system and a vector Q specifying its production. This formulation, called Q-vector approach here, has also been worked out. Examples of practical importance are given.

Faddeev fixed-center approximation to theNK̄Ksystem and the signature of aN*(1920)(1/2+) state

2011

We perform a calculation for the three body $N \bar{K} K$ scattering amplitude by using the fixed center approximation to the Faddeev equations, taking the interaction between $N$ and $\bar{K}$, $N$ and $K$, and $\bar{K}$ and $K$ from the chiral unitary approach. The resonant structures show up in the modulus squared of the three body scattering amplitude and suggest that a $N\bar{K}K$ hadron state can be formed. Our results are in agreement with others obtained in previous theoretical works, which claim a new $N^*$ resonance around 1920 MeV with spin-parity $J^P=1/2^+$. The existence of these previous works allows us to test the accuracy of the fixed center approximation in the present pro…

The CC3 model : An iterative coupled cluster approach including connected triples

1997

An alternative derivation of many-body perturbation theory (MBPT) has been given, where a coupled cluster parametrization is used for the wave function and the method of undetermined Lagrange multipliers is applied to set up a variational coupled cluster energy expression. In this variational formulation, the nth-order amplitudes determine the energy to order 2n+1 and the nth-order multipliers determine the energy to order 2n+2. We have developed an iterative approximate coupled cluster singles, doubles, and triples model CC3, where the triples amplitudes are correct through second order and the singles amplitudes are treated without approximations due to the unique role of singles as appro…

The translationally-invariant coupled cluster method in coordinate space

2000

We study a formulation of the translationally-invariant coupled cluster method in coordinate space. Previous calculations in configuration space showed poor convergence, a problem that the new formulation is expected to remedy. This question is investigated for a system of bosons interacting through the Wigner part of the Afnan-Tang S3 interaction, where previous results exist.

Couplings in coupled channels versus wave functions in the case of resonances: Application to the twoΛ(1405)states

2011

In this paper we develop a formalism to evaluate wave functions in momentum and coordinate space for the resonant states dynamically generated in a unitary coupled channel approach. The on-shell approach for the scattering matrix, commonly used, is also obtained in quantum mechanics with a separable potential, which allows one to write wave functions in a trivial way. We develop useful relationships among the couplings of the dynamically generated resonances to the different channels and the wave functions at the origin. The formalism provides an intuitive picture of the resonances in the coupled channel approach, as bound states of one bound channel, which decays into open ones. It also pr…

Three-body hadronic molecules

2010

In this talk, I discuss our recent studies of three-hadron systems and the resonances found therein. The studies consist of solving Faddeev equations with the input two body interactions obtained from the chiral Lagrangians. The systems which we study are either made of two mesons and a baryon or of three mesons. The motivation for these studies comes from the data on many baryon resonances, especially the ones with Jπ = 1/2+, which show a large branching ratio to the two meson-one baryon decay channels. In addition to this, several new studies at BES, BELLE, BABAR etc., claim the existence of new meson resonances which seem to couple strongly to three-meson systems, where mostly two out of…

Neutrino energy reconstruction and the shape of the charged current quasielastic-like total cross section

2012

We show that because of the multinucleon mechanism effects, the algorithm used to reconstruct the neutrino energy is not adequate when dealing with quasielastic-like events, and a distortion of the total flux-unfolded cross-section shape is produced. This amounts to a redistribution of strength from high to low energies, which gives rise to a sizable excess (deficit) of low (high) energy neutrinos. This distortion of the shape leads to a good description of the MiniBooNE unfolded charged current quasielastic-like cross sections published by A. A. Aguilar-Arevalo et al. [(MiniBooNE Collaboration), Phys. Rev. D 81, 092005 (2010)]. However, these changes in the shape are artifacts of the unfol…

Theoretical uncertainties on quasielastic charged-current neutrino–nucleus cross sections

2006

We estimate the theoretical uncertainties of the model developed in Phys. Rev. C70 055503 for inclusive quasielastic charged-current neutrino-nucleus reactions at intermediate energies. Besides we quantify the deviations of the predictions of this many body framework from those obtained within a simple Fermi gas model. An special attention has been paid to the ratio \sigma(\mu)/\sigma(e) of interest for experiments on atmospheric neutrinos. We show that uncertainties affecting this ratio are likely smaller than 5%

Systematic study of neutrinoless double beta decay to excited 0+ states

2003

Abstract A systematic study of neutrinoless double beta (0 νββ ) decay to excited 0 + states, described as monopole-vibrational states or as composed of two collective quadrupole-phonon states, has been performed. Both double β − and double β + /EC decays have been analyzed within the framework of the multiple commutator model (MCM) by using a realistic nuclear many-body Hamiltonian and realistic mean-field single-particle bases. It is found that the associated 0 νββ -decay transitions are suppressed relative to the decay to the final ground state both by the available phase space and especially by the smallness of the involved transition matrix elements. For completeness, also the double β…
