Sequence analysis of the rDNA spacer of Paracentrotus lividus and observations about pre-rRNA processing. NTS sequence of Paracentrotus lividus rDNA.
1993
We have isolated and sequenced one intergenic region and a small part of the flanking regions (18S and 26S rRNA coding regions) of the rRNA-encoding genes (rDNA) from the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus. This region is about 3.8 Kb long. Northern blot hybridizations and S1 mapping experiments demonstrated the presence of a partially processed 21S rRNA precursor while has the same 5' terminus as the 32S primary precursor, also in developmental stages characterized by a low rate of rRNA synthesis.
Genetic organization of the mle locus and identification of a mleR-like gene from Leuconostoc oenos
1996
Characterization of the mle locus harboring the malolactic enzyme gene mleA and malate permease gene mleP from Leuconostoc oenos was completed in this study by mRNA analysis. Northern (RNA) blot experiments revealed a 2.6-kb transcript, suggesting an operon structure harboring mleA and mleP genes. Primer extension analysis showed that the mle operon has a single transcription start site located 17 nucleotides upstream of the ATG translation start site for the mleA gene. We found sequences, TTGACT and TATGAT (which are separated by 18 bp), that are closely related to the gram-positive and Escherichia coli consensus promoter sequences. Upstream of the mleA gene, an 894-bp open reading frame t…
Godbillon–Vey sequence and Françoise algorithm
2019
Abstract We consider foliations given by deformations d F + ϵ ω of exact forms dF in C 2 in a neighborhood of a family of cycles γ ( t ) ⊂ F − 1 ( t ) . In 1996 Francoise gave an algorithm for calculating the first nonzero term of the displacement function Δ along γ of such deformations. This algorithm recalls the well-known Godbillon–Vey sequences discovered in 1971 for investigation of integrability of a form ω. In this paper, we establish the correspondence between the two approaches and translate some results by Casale relating types of integrability for finite Godbillon–Vey sequences to the Francoise algorithm settings.
Differential expression pattern of the novel serine/threonine kinase, STK33, in mice and men
2005
Serine/threonine kinase 33 (STK33/Stk33) is a recently discovered gene whose inferred amino acid sequence translation displays characters typical for a calcium/calmodulin dependent kinase (CAMK). In this study we analysed the STK33/Stk33 RNA and protein distribution and the localization of the protein. The STK33/Stk33 expression pattern resembles those of some related members of the CAMK group. STK33/Stk33 displays a nonubiquitous and, in most tissues, low level of expression. It is highly expressed in testis, particularly in cells from the spermatogenic epithelia. Moreover, significant expression is detected in lung epithelia, alveolar macrophages, horizontal cells in the retina and in emb…
The development of benzimidazoles as selective rho kinase inhibitors
2010
Rho Kinase (ROCK) is a serine/threonine kinase whose inhibition could prove beneficial in numerous therapeutic areas. We have developed a promising class of ATP-competitive inhibitors based upon a benzimidazole scaffold, which show excellent potency toward ROCK (IC(50)<10nM). This report details the optimization of selectivity for ROCK over other related kinases such as Protein kinase A (PKA).
An Approach to Cadastre Map Quality Evaluation
2008
An approach to data quality evaluation is proposed, which is elaborated and implemented by State Land Service of the Republic of Latvia. The approach is based on opinion of Land Service experts about Cadastre map quality that depends on its usage points. Quality parameters of Cadastre map objects identified by experts and its limit values are used for evaluation. The assessment matrix is used, which allow to define Cadastre map quality that depends on its usage purpose. The matrix is used to find out, of what quality a Cadastre map should be in order to be used for the chosen purpose. The given approach is flexible, it gives a possibility to change sets of quality parameters and their limit…
Formation of real, orthoscopic integral images by smart pixel mapping.
2005
Integral imaging systems are imaging devices that provide 3D images of 3D objects. When integral imaging systems work in their standard configuration the provided reconstructed images are pseudoscopic; that is, are reversed in depth. In this paper we present, for the first time we believe, a technique for formation of real, undistorted, orthoscopic integral images by direct pickup. The technique is based on a smart mapping of pixels of an elemental-images set. Simulated imaging experiments are presented to support our proposal.
Effects of modified atmosphere packaging on quality parameters of minimally processed table grape during cold storage
2015
‘Vittoria’ and ‘Red Globe’ table grapes were packed in microperforated polypropylene films (passive MAP) and non-perforated polyethylene (active MAP: 1) 20% CO2 + air; 2) 5% O2 + 15% CO2 + N) and stored at 5 °C for 28 days. Microperforated polypropylene packages had the highest postharvest performance in both cultivars until 14 days of cold storage, with reduced weight losses, rachis and berry decay. Total soluble solids content slightly increased in non-perforated polyethylene boxes as a consequence of the higher weight losses, particularly in active MAP with 5% O2 + 15% CO2 + N, while no significant differences were found for titratable acidity. Non-perforated polyethylene packages showed…
