Cerebral ischemia evokes changes in gene expression time-dependently after the ischemic event. Most studies on transcriptional changes following ischemia have centered on relatively early postischemic time points, and detected multiple genes relevant to neuronal cell death. However, functional outcome after ischemia depends critically on adaptations of the postischemic brain. Transformation of the Software Testing Glossary into a Browsable Concept Map

Authors propose a transformation method of the glossary “Standard glossary of terms used in Software Testing” created by ISTQB document into a basic concept map. By applying natural language processing techniques and analyzing the discovered relations between concepts the most essential aspects of the software testing domain are elicited and integrated. As the result a browsable concept map is created. Browsable concept map can be used as a learning support tool.

Neural processing of nouns and verbs in spontaneous speech of patients with schizophrenia.

Previous fMRI-studies investigating the production of nouns and verbs in healthy participants reported predominantly activation in the left inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) for both classes of words with increased neural responses for verbs. To date, comparable imaging data for spontaneous speech in patients with schizophrenia is missing. These results are novel and may contribute to understand the neural basis of noun and verb production in a "natural" environment. Fifteen patients with schizophrenia and fifteen healthy control participants described pictures for one minute each while BOLD signal changes were measured with fMRI. Invasion of thehobo transposable element studied byin situ hybridization on polytene chromosomes ofDrosophila melanogaster

The invasion kinetics of hobo transposable element in the Drosophila melanogaster genome was studied by in situ hybridization on the polytene chromosomes. Six independent lines of Drosophila melanogaster flies that had been previously transformed by microinjection of the pHFL1 plasmid containing a complete hobo element were followed over 50 generations. We observed that hobo elements were scattered on each of the chromosome arms, with more insertion sites on the 3R arm. The total number of insertion sites remains quite small, between four and six, at generation 52. On the 2R arm, a short inversion appeared once at generation 52.
