Multisensor comparison of NDVI for a semi‐arid environment in Spain

2009

The joint use of multiresolution sensors from different satellites offers many opportunities to describe vegetation and its dynamics. This paper introduces the concept of a virtual constellation (defined as an ensemble of all Earth Observation satellites in orbit that satisfy common requirements) for agricultural applications and contributes to providing the necessary inter-sensor calibration methodology for spectral reflectances and NDVI. For this purpose, we performed an observational study, comparing reflectances and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), from near-synchronous image pairs of Landsat 7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+), as the reference sensor and Landsat 5…

Emissivity measurements of several soils and vegetation types in the 8–14, μm Wave band: Analysis of two field methods

1997

Abstract The two variants of the box method (with one and two lids) has been rigorously analyzed. As a result of this analysis, a correction factor that takes into account the nonideality of the materials used for the box, as well as its geometry, has been derived A simple method for determining the effective downward atmospheric temperature that uses only the temperature measurement at the zenith also has been proposed. Finally, by using one of the two variants of the box method, 72 in situ emissivity measurements in the 8–14 pin wave-band region of typical vegetation, soils, and rocks of Europe and South America, has been obtained. The use of these data for the ernissivity correction of s…

Lipocalin-2 Regulates Hippocampal Microglial Activation in Poststroke Depression

2021

Background and Purpose: Microglia play important role in poststroke depression (PSD), however, the exact mechanism was still unclear. The purpose of the study was to study the mechanism of microglial activation in PSD.Methods: 24 rats were randomly divided into three groups: the PSD group (n = 10), the poststroke (PS) group (n = 7), and the sham group (n = 7). Primary hippocampal microglia were isolated and cultured, and recombined LCN2 protein was used to stimulate the cultured microglia. The protein expression of Iba1, P38 MAPK and PP38 MAPK was analyzed by western blotting; the LCN2 expression was measured by RT-qPCR, the serum LCN2 level and the NO level were analyzed by ELISA.Results: …

Neuronal nicotinic receptors in synaptic functions in humans and rats: physiological and clinical relevance.

2000

The present report describes the participation of nicotinic receptors (nAChRs) in controlling the excitability of local neuronal circuitries in the rat hippocampus and in the human cerebral cortex. The patch-clamp technique was used to record responses triggered by the non-selective agonist ACh and the alpha7-nAChR-selective agonist choline in interneurons of human cerebral cortical and rat hippocampal slices. Evidence is provided that functional alpha7- and alpha4beta2-like nAChRs are present on somatodendritic and/or preterminal/terminal regions of interneurons in the CA1 field of the rat hippocampus and in the human cerebral cortex and that activation of the different nAChR subtypes pres…

Agonist-induced formation of FGFR1 homodimers and signaling differ among members of the FGF family

2011

Fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) is known to be activated by homodimerization in the presence of both the FGF agonist ligand and heparan sulfate glycosaminoglycan. FGFR1 homodimers in turn trigger a variety of downstream signaling cascades via autophosphorylation of tyrosine residues in the cytoplasmic domain of FGFR1. By means of Bioluminescence Energy Resonance Transfer (BRET) as a sign of FGFR1 homodimerization, we evaluated in HEK293T cells the effects of all known FGF agonist ligands on homodimer formation. A significant correlation between BRET(2) signaling and ERK1/2 phosphorylation was observed, leading to a further characterization of the binding and signaling properties…

Enhancement of the FGFR1 signaling in the FGFR1-5-HT1A heteroreceptor complex in midbrain raphe 5-HT neuron systems. Relevance for neuroplasticity an…

2015

New findings show existence of FGFR1-5-HT1A heteroreceptor complexes in 5-HT nerve cells of the dorsal and median raphe nuclei of the rat midbrain and hippocampus. Synergistic receptor-receptor interactions in these receptor complexes indicated their enhancing role in hippocampal plasticity. The existence of FGFR1-5-HT1A heteroreceptor complexes also in midbrain raphe 5-HT nerve cells open up the possibility that antidepressant drugs by increasing extracellular 5-HT levels can cause an activation of the FGF-2/FGFR1 mechanism in these nerve cells as well. Therefore, the agonist modulation of the FGFR1-5-HT1A heteroreceptor complexes and their specific role is now determined in rat medullary …

Regulation of the effects of CYP2E1-induced oxidative stress by JNK signaling

2014

The generation of excessive amounts of reactive oxygen species (ROS) leads to cellular oxidative stress that underlies a variety of forms of hepatocyte injury and death including that from alcohol. Although ROS can induce cell damage through direct effects on cellular macromolecules, the injurious effects of ROS are mediated largely through changes in signal transduction pathways such as the mitogen-activated protein kinase c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK). In response to alcohol, hepatocytes have increased levels of the enzyme cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) which generates an oxidant stress that promotes the development of alcoholic steatosis and liver injury. These effects are mediated in larg…

A coincidence-point problem of Perov type on rectangular cone metric spaces

2017

We consider a coincidence-point problem in the setting of rectangular cone metric spaces. Using alpha-admissible mappings and following Perov's approach, we establish some existence and uniqueness results for two self-mappings. Under a compatibility assumption, we also solve a common fixed-point problem.

Fixed point theorems for fuzzy mappings and applications to ordinary fuzzy differential equations

2014

Abstract Ran and Reurings (Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 132(5):1435-1443, 2004) proved an analog of the Banach contraction principle in metric spaces endowed with a partial order and discussed some applications to matrix equations. The main novelty in the paper of Ran and Reurings involved combining the ideas in the contraction principle with those in the monotone iterative technique. Motivated by this, we present some common fixed point results for a pair of fuzzy mappings satisfying an almost generalized contractive condition in partially ordered complete metric spaces. Also we give some examples and an application to illustrate our results. MSC:46S40, 47H10, 34A70, 54E50.

On the derived category of the Cayley plane II

2014

We find a full strongly exceptional collection for the Cayley plane OP2, the simplest rational homogeneous space of the exceptional group E6. This collection, closely related to the one given by the second author in [J. Algebra, 330:177-187, 2011], consists of 27 vector bundles which are homogeneous for the group E6, and is a Lefschetz collection with respect to the minimal equivariant embedding of OP2.
