Finite Braid Groups for the SU(2) Knizhnik Zamolodchikov Equation
1995
We consider the monodromy representations of the mapping class group B 4 of the 2-sphere with 4 punctures acting in the solutions space of the zu(2) Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation [3] (note that the monodromy representations of the braid group have a more general geometric definition [4]).

Automatic calculation of massive two-loop self-energies with XLOOPS
1997
Abstract Within the program package XLOOPS it is possible to calculate self-energies up to the two-loop level for arbitrary massive particles. The program package — written in MAPLE (Char et al., Maple V Language Reference Manual (Springer, 1991); Char et al., Maple V Library Reference Manual (Springer, 1991)) — is designed to deal with the full tensor structure of the occurring integrals. This means that applications are not restricted to those cases where the reduction to scalars via equivalence theorem is allowed. The algorithms handle two-loop integrals analytically if this is possible. For those topologies where no analytic result for the general mass case is available, the diagrams ar…

Convergence-theoretic mechanisms behind product theorems
2000
Abstract Commutation of the topologizer with products, quotientness of product maps, preservation of some properties by products, topologicity of continuous convergence, continuity of complete lattices are facets of the same quest. A new method of multifilters is used to establish (in terms of core-contour-compactness) sufficient and necessary conditions for these properties in the framework of general convergences. The relativized Antoine reflector plays here an important role. Several classical results (of Whitehead, Michael, Boehme, Cohen, Day and Kelly, Hofmann and Lawson, Schwarz and Weck, Kent and Richardson, and others) are extended or refined.
Geometry of the projectivization of ideals and applications to problems of birationality
2018
In this thesis, we interpret geometrically the torsion of the symmetric algebra of the ideal sheaf I_Z of a scheme Z defined by n+1 equations in an n-dimensional variety. This is equivalent to study the geometry of the projectivization of I_Z. The applications of this point of view concern, in particular, the topic of birational maps of the projective space of dimension 3 for which we construct explicit birational maps that have the same algebraic degree as their inverse, free and nearly-free curves for which we generalise a characterization of free curves by extending the notion of Milnor and Tjurina numbers. We tackle also the topic of homaloidal hypersurfaces, our original motivation, fo…
Karyotype Abnormalities in a Variant Chinese Hamster Cell Line Resistant to Methyl Methanesulphonate
2004
A variant cell population, isolated from V79-CI 3 Chinese hamster cells after two consecutive treatments with methyl methanesulphonate (MMS), was found to be highly resistant to killing by this alkylating agent. The resistant cell line was cytogenetically characterized both by the presence of a stable translocation involving metacentric chromosome 2 and acrocentric chromosome 6 and by a supernumerary chromosome originated by the duplication of a small telocentric chromosome. This cell population also showed a transient transformed phenotype, seen as formation of transformed foci containing cells with high chromosomes counts and multiple chromosomal aberrations. As MMS-resistance and karyoty…
Synthesis of polyfluoroalkyl sp2-iminosugar glycolipids and evaluation of their immunomodulatory properties towards anti-tumor, anti-leishmanial and …
2019
Immunomodulatory glycolipids, among which α-galactosylceramide (KRN7000) is an iconic example, have shown strong therapeutic potential in a variety of conditions ranging from cancer and infection to autoimmune or neurodegenerative diseases. A main difficulty for those channels is that they often provoke a cytokine storm comprising both pro- and anti-inflammatory mediators that antagonize each other and negatively affect the immune response. The synthesis of analogues with narrower cytokine secretion-inducing capabilities is hampered by the intrinsic difficulty at controlling the stereochemical outcome in glycosidation reactions, particularly if targeting the α-anomer, which seriously hamper…
Suitability of 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium ionic liquids for the analysis of pharmaceutical formulations containing tricyclic antidepressants
2018
Abstract The reversed-phase chromatographic behaviour of six tricyclic antidepressants (amitryptiline, clomipramine, doxepin, imipramine, nortryptiline and maprotiline) was examined in this work with acetonitrile-water mobile phases, in the absence and presence of the ionic liquids 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride and 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, which have interesting features for the separation of basic compounds, in terms of peak shape combined with reduced retention. Tricyclic antidepressants are low polarity drugs that strongly associate to the alkyl chains of conventional stationary phases. They are also positively charged in the usual working pH range (2–8) in r…
