Infraclavicular access to the axillary vein-new possibilities for the catheterization of the central veins in the intensive care unit

2016

Central vein cannulation is one of the most commonly performed procedures in intensive care. Traditionally, the jugular and subclavian vein are recommended as the first choice option. Nevertheless, these attempts are not always obtainable for critically ill patients. For this reason, the axillary vein seems to be a rational alternative approach. In this narrative review, we evaluate the usefulness of the infraclavicular access to the axillary vein. The existing evidence suggests that infraclavicular approach to the axillary vein is a reliable method of central vein catheterization, especially when performed with ultrasound guidance.

Carboxytherapy in dermatology.

2022

Abstract Carboxytherapy is a medical technique during which a sterile gas—carbon dioxide—is injected into the subdermal tissue. The utility of carbon dioxide injections has enhanced the practical relevance of carboxytherapy as a method for the management of multiple disorders. We have evaluated its use in the treatment of dermatologic conditions by searching electronic databases (ie, MEDLINE and PubMed) for contributions in the English language through January 2021. Carboxytherapy provides an attractive aesthetic option in skin rejuvenation, atrophic scars, striae distensae (stretch marks), cellulite-fibrolipodystrophy adhesions after liposuction, and certain types of alopecia. We discuss t…

Izrādes jēdziena analīze Gija Debora darbā "Izrādes Sabiedrība"

2015

Blocks to, and building blocks of, narrativity : fragments, anecdotes, and narrative lines in David Markson’s Reader’s block

2017

David Markson’s Reader’s block (1996) consists of 193 pages of quotations, anecdotes, names, and fragments. The book bears the paratext “A novel,” and the work has indeed been read as a narrative whole, in which “an aging author [...] contemplates the writing of a novel.” By being out of ordinary and therefore worth of telling, the anecdotes or curiosities seemingly fulfill the requirements of a “natural” narrative as defined by Monika Fludernik (1996). However, a mass of such mini-narratives, mixed with even more fragmentary texts, seems to defy narrativity (and tellability). In my reading, the ostensive block to narrativity also functions as its very building block. Thanks to polysemy, bl…

Le pont des Grilles de la Basse-Seille (fin XIVe siècle), ancienne porte d’eau de l’enceinte urbaine de Metz

2017

The bridge des Grilles de la Basse-Seille is one of the last vestiges of the medieval fortification in Metz. It is one of rare examples of fortified bridge in France. Built in the end of the 14th century, it is backfilled in 1911 and only its upper section is visible. An archaeological and historic study was made in 2011 to understand the configuration and the functioning of the bridge in the Middle Ages.

Assessment itineraries and its relation with academic achievement

2017

[EN] In recent years the university educational reality shows signs of change. Among other innovations, it has meant the introduction of new ways of assessment, arousing the scientific interest it deserves. Concretely, the formative and shared assessment is developed in assessment routes that try to adapt to the needs of the students. However, the continuous, mixed and final assessment methods are related to different academic performance, which is worth considering. This article tries to deepen in the relation that these itineraries have with the obtained marks and analyses descriptively teacher assessment trends and students’ system assessment preferences of choice. The results show, on t…

Projekt postmarksistowski: od śmierci uniwersalizmu do agonistycznej demokracji

2014

As a consequence of dynamic changes of socio-political space, the need for revision was born - and not only revision in the area of polotical practices, but also theoretical ones. Diagnosis of political reality and actuality of particular element of classical, XIXth century marxist thought led to creation of post-marxist perspective, being also at the same time consistent phiosophical set. The fullest interpretation of this direction of studies is made by Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe in their "Hegemony and Socialist Strategy. Towards a Radical Democratic Politics", written in 1985 - and this is the reason for which this work will constitute elemenst drawn by authors mentioned before. T…
