A preliminary evaluation of an enterprise-wide eCollaboration solution : a case study in Statoil
2006
Masteroppgave i informasjonssystemer 2006 - Høgskolen i Agder, Kristiansand Based on the World Wide Web and the internet new possibilities have emerged for organisations in terms of collaboration. Organisations invest heavily in collaborative systems to be able to collaborate more efficiently both internally and externally. There is increasing research in the area of collaboration technologies. By focusing on group interaction, collaborative technologies pose new opportunities to organisations. The potential benefits including more efficient and better collaboration, cost savings by communication across organisational boundaries and improved possibilities for decision making. However, new o…
Switching to Fully Online Teaching and Learning of Mathematics: The Case of Norwegian Mathematics Lecturers and University Students During the Covid-…
2022
AbstractTowards the end of 2019, a novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, was detected and quickly spread worldwide. The resulting pandemic led many countries to lockdown and teaching and learning switched to fully online provision. This study explores how Norwegian higher education lecturers and students of mathematics experienced online provision following this switch in March 2020 when the national lockdown was imposed. Data are generated and analysed using an exploratory sequential mixed methods approach that first entailed interviews with ten mathematics lecturers and six undergraduate students as the foundation for developing a survey instrument. The instrument was designed to explore …
Implementation of Building Information Modeling in Infrastructure Construction : Lessons from Norway and Vietnam
2021
Industrialization, innovation, and infrastructure are important drivers in improving employment and income (United Nations, 2015b). To meet the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, developing countries need to invest more in research and innovation that aims to improve their infrastructure (United Nations, 2015a). More basic infrastructure, such as roads, information and communication technology (ICT) systems, and electrical power grids, is essential to improving standards of living and protecting the environment in developing countries (ibid.). Construction researchers have found that the use of ICT increases construction efficiency. Adwan and Al-Soufi (2016) classified 2…
Robust Switching Rule Design for Boost Converters with Uncertain Parameters and Disturbances
2013
Pubished version of an article in the journal: Abstract and Applied Analysis. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/120543 Open access This paper is concerned with the design problem of robust H∞ switching rule for Boost converters with uncertain parameters and disturbances. Firstly, the Boost converter is modeled as a switched affine linear system with uncertain parameters and disturbances. Then, using common Lyapunov function approach and linear matrix inequality (LMI) technique, a novel switching rule is proposed such that the H∞ model reference tracking performance is satisfied. Finally, a simulation result is provided to show the validity of the proposed …
A novel learning automata game with local feedback for parallel optimization of hydropower production
2017
Master's thesis Information- and communication technology IKT590 - University of Agder 2017 Hydropower optimization for multi-reservoir systems is classi ed as a combinatorial optimization problem with large state-space that is particularly di cult to solve. There exist no golden standard when solving such problems, and many proposed algorithms are domain speci c. The literature describes several di erent techniques where linear programming approaches are extensively discussed, but tends to succumb to the curse of dimensionality problem when the state vector dimensions increase. This thesis introduces LA LCS, a novel learning automata algorithm that utilizes a parallel form of local feedbac…

Project report : Evaluering av INSITU skogbrannøvelse
2021
Development of System for Deterrence of Animals using Artificial Intelligence
2021
Master's thesis in Mechatronics (MAS500) This thesis is part of the Mechatronics masters program at the University of Agder (UiA). It describes the development of an animal deterrence system, using computer vision with embedded systems for edge computing. Household cats can run freely around in neighborhoods, but all neighbors may not appreciate it. This project seeks to develop a harmless and accurate system for keeping cats away. The solution is to use a state-of-the-art object detector to look for cats in an area. Using an embedded system to run the object detector and tracking method. Design a two-axis turret with servo motors and a camera. The object detector used for this project was …
