Periodic elastic composite structures attract great attention. They offer the ability to design artificial properties to advance the control over the propagation of elastic/acoustic waves. In previous work, we drew attention to composite periodic structures comprising liquids. It was shown that the transmission spectrum of the structure, specifically a well-isolated peak, follows the material properties of liquid constituent in a distinct manner. A novel TiO2-assisted magnetic nanoparticle separator for treatment and inactivation of bacterial contaminants in aquatic systems

Ferromagnetic nanoparticles (Fe-nanoparticles) have been functionalized with recombinant poly- Glu [glutamic acid]-tagged silicatein, a biomineral-synthesizing enzyme from siliceous sponges that forms the inorganic silica skeleton of those animals. The biocatalytic activity of silicatein was used to form a titania (TiO2) shell around the iron nanoparticle core, using the water-soluble non- natural substrate titanium bis(ammonium lactato)-dihydroxide (TiBALDH). The variability of the maximum response displacement of random frame structures under deterministic earthquake loading are examined in this paper using stochastic finite element techniques. The elastic modulus and the mass density are assumed to be described by cross-correlated stochastic fields. Specifically, a variability response function formulation is used for this problem, which allows for calculation of spectral-distribution-free upper bounds of the maximum displacement variance. Based on previous work, where it was shown that 4-urazoylbenzoic acid (U4A) groups, which are attached statistically to polybutadiene, form ordered supramolecular arrays in the unpolar polymer matrix, the present work describes the synthesis of a new molecular building block capable of self-assembling in the unpolar polymer matrix. 5-Urazoylisophthalic acid (U35A) groups attached to 1,4-polybutadiene chains cause the formation of a thermoplastic elastomer of improved properties. Triaxial testing of argillaceous rocks and shales is significantly more challenging than conventional rock mechanical testing. International audience; A new olivine-pigeonite ureilite containing abundant diamonds and graphite was found in the United Arab Emirates. This is the first report of a meteorite in this country. The sample is heavily altered, of medium shock level, and has a total weight of 155 g. Bulk rock, olivine (Fo79.8-81.8) and pyroxene (En73.9-75.2, Fs15.5-16.9, Wo8.8-9.5) compositions are typical of ureilites. Olivine rims are reduced with Fo increasing up to Fo96.1-96.8.
