Arithmetic and geometry of a K3 surface emerging from virtual corrections to Drell--Yan scattering
2019
We study a K3 surface, which appears in the two-loop mixed electroweak-quantum chromodynamic virtual corrections to Drell--Yan scattering. A detailed analysis of the geometric Picard lattice is presented, computing its rank and discriminant in two independent ways: first using explicit divisors on the surface and then using an explicit elliptic fibration. We also study in detail the elliptic fibrations of the surface and use them to provide an explicit Shioda--Inose structure. Moreover, we point out the physical relevance of our results.
Properties of Yang-Mills scattering forms
2018
In this talk we introduce the properties of scattering forms on the compactified moduli space of Riemann spheres with $n$ marked points. These differential forms are $\text{PSL}(2,\mathbb{C})$ invariant, their intersection numbers correspond to scattering amplitudes as recently proposed by Mizera. All singularities are at the boundary of the moduli space and each singularity is logarithmic. In addition, each residue factorizes into two differential forms of lower points.
Conifold Transitions and Mirror Symmetry for Calabi-Yau Complete Intersections in Grassmannians
1997
In this paper we show that conifold transitions between Calabi-Yau 3-folds can be used for the construction of mirror manifolds and for the computation of the instanton numbers of rational curves on complete intersection Calabi-Yau 3-folds in Grassmannians. Using a natural degeneration of Grassmannians $G(k,n)$ to some Gorenstein toric Fano varieties $P(k,n)$ with conifolds singularities which was recently described by Sturmfels, we suggest an explicit mirror construction for Calabi-Yau complete intersections $X \subset G(k,n)$ of arbitrary dimension. Our mirror construction is consistent with the formula for the Lax operator conjectured by Eguchi, Hori and Xiong for gravitational quantum c…
The Space Filling Dirichlet 3-Brane in N=2, D=4 Superspace
2001
We discuss a four-dimensional Volkov-Akulov supersymmetric theory on a D3-brane with N=2 supersymmetry broken down to N=1.
Mirror quintics, discrete symmetries and Shioda maps
2008
In a recent paper, Doran, Greene and Judes considered one parameter families of quintic threefolds with finite symmetry groups. A surprising result was that each of these six families has the same Picard Fuchs equation associated to the holomorphic 3-form. In this paper we give an easy argument, involving the family of Mirror Quintics, which implies this result. Using a construction due to Shioda, we also relate certain quotients of these one parameter families to the family of Mirror Quintics. Our constructions generalize to degree n Calabi Yau varieties in (n-1)-dimensional projective space.
Dimensional interpolation and the Selberg integral
2019
Abstract We show that a version of dimensional interpolation for the Riemann–Roch–Hirzebruch formalism in the case of a grassmannian leads to an expression for the Euler characteristic of line bundles in terms of a Selberg integral. We propose a way to interpolate higher Bessel equations, their wedge powers, and monodromies thereof to non–integer orders, and link the result with the dimensional interpolation of the RRH formalism in the spirit of the gamma conjectures.
Higher genera Catalan numbers and Hirota equations for extended nonlinear Schrödinger hierarchy
2021
We consider the Dubrovin--Frobenius manifold of rank $2$ whose genus expansion at a special point controls the enumeration of a higher genera generalization of the Catalan numbers, or, equivalently, the enumeration of maps on surfaces, ribbon graphs, Grothendieck's dessins d'enfants, strictly monotone Hurwitz numbers, or lattice points in the moduli spaces of curves. Liu, Zhang, and Zhou conjectured that the full partition function of this Dubrovin--Frobenius manifold is a tau-function of the extended nonlinear Schr\"odinger hierarchy, an extension of a particular rational reduction of the Kadomtsev--Petviashvili hierarchy. We prove a version of their conjecture specializing the Givental--M…
Regularity and h-polynomials of toric ideals of graphs
2020
For all integers 4 ≤ r ≤ d 4 \leq r \leq d , we show that there exists a finite simple graph G = G r , d G= G_{r,d} with toric ideal I G ⊂ R I_G \subset R such that R / I G R/I_G has (Castelnuovo–Mumford) regularity r r and h h -polynomial of degree d d . To achieve this goal, we identify a family of graphs such that the graded Betti numbers of the associated toric ideal agree with its initial ideal, and, furthermore, that this initial ideal has linear quotients. As a corollary, we can recover a result of Hibi, Higashitani, Kimura, and O’Keefe that compares the depth and dimension of toric ideals of graphs.
On Hodge theory for the generalized geometry (I)
2013
Abstract We first investigate the linear Dirac structure from the viewpoint of a mixed Hodge structure. Then we discuss a Hodge-decomposition-type theorem for the generalized Kahler manifold and study the moduli space of a generalized weak Calabi–Yau manifold. We present a holomorphic anomaly equation and a one-loop partition function in a topological B-model under the generalized geometric context.
Some families of big and stable bundles on $K3$ surfaces and on their Hilbert schemes of points
2021
Here we investigate meaningful families of vector bundles on a very general polarized $K3$ surface $(X,H)$ and on the corresponding Hyper--Kaehler variety given by the Hilbert scheme of points $X^{[k]}:= {\rm Hilb}^k(X)$, for any integer $k \geqslant 2$. In particular, we prove results concerning bigness and stability of such bundles. First, we give conditions on integers $n$ such that the twist of the tangent bundle of $X$ by the line bundle $nH$ is big and stable on~$X$; we then prove a similar result for a natural twist of the tangent bundle of $X^{[k]}$. Next, we prove global generation, bigness and stability results for tautological bundles on $X^{[k]}$ arising either from line bundles…
