The centralizer of a C1 generic diffeomorphism is trivial

2007

In this announcement, we describe the solution in the C1 topology to a question asked by S. Smale on the genericity of trivial centralizers: the set of diffeomorphisms of a compact connected manifold with trivial centralizer residual in Diff^1 but does not contain an open and dense subset.

Pseudo-rotations of the closed annulus : variation on a theorem of J. Kwapisz

2003

Consider a homeomorphism h of the closed annulus S^1*[0,1], isotopic to the identity, such that the rotation set of h is reduced to a single irrational number alpha (we say that h is an irrational pseudo-rotation). For every positive integer n, we prove that there exists a simple arc gamma joining one of the boundary component of the annulus to the other one, such that gamma is disjoint from its n first iterates under h. As a corollary, we obtain that the rigid rotation of angle alpha can be approximated by homeomorphisms conjugate to h. The first result stated above is an analog of a theorem of J. Kwapisz dealing with diffeomorphisms of the two-torus; we give some new, purely two-dimension…

Global dominated splittings and the C1 Newhouse phenomenom

2006

International audience; We prove that given a compact n-dimensional boundaryless manifold M, n >=2, there exists a residual subset R of the space of C1 diffeomorphisms Diff such that given any chain-transitive set K of f in R then either K admits a dominated splitting or else K is contained in the closure of an infinite number of periodic sinks/sources. This result generalizes the generic dichotomy for homoclinic classes in [BDP]. It follows from the above result that given a C1-generic diffeomorphism f then either the nonwandering set Omega(f) may be decomposed into a finite number of pairwise disjoint compact sets each of which admits a dominated splitting, or else f exhibits infinitely m…

Partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms with a compact center foliation with finite holonomy

2011

The thesis classifies partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms with a compact center foliation with finite holonomy. Under the further assumption of a one-dimensional unstable bundle we show the following: If the unstable bundle is oriented then the system fibers over a hyperbolic toral automorphism. We further establish that the system has a dense orbit of center leaves. During the proof we show a Shadowing Lemma and the dynamical coherence without restrictions of the dimensions.

Scenario of the Birth of Hidden Attractors in the Chua Circuit

2017

Recently it was shown that in the dynamical model of Chua circuit both the classical selfexcited and hidden chaotic attractors can be found. In this paper the dynamics of the Chua circuit is revisited. The scenario of the chaotic dynamics development and the birth of selfexcited and hidden attractors is studied. It is shown a pitchfork bifurcation in which a pair of symmetric attractors coexists and merges into one symmetric attractor through an attractormerging bifurcation and a splitting of a single attractor into two attractors. The scenario relating the subcritical Hopf bifurcation near equilibrium points and the birth of hidden attractors is discussed.

Controlled diffeomorphic extension of homeomorphisms

2018

Let $\Omega$ be an internal chord-arc Jordan domain and $\varphi:\mathbb S\rightarrow\partial\Omega$ be a homeomorphism. We show that $\varphi$ has finite dyadic energy if and only if $\varphi$ has a diffeomorphic extension $h: \mathbb D\rightarrow \Omega$ which has finite energy.

Canard-cycle transition at a fast–fast passage through a jump point

2014

Abstract We consider transitory canard cycles that consist of a generic breaking mechanism, i.e. a Hopf or a jump breaking mechanism, in combination with a fast–fast passage through a jump point. Such cycle separates two types of canard cycles with a different shape. We obtain upper bounds on the number of periodic orbits that can appear near the canard cycle, and this under very general conditions.

Stable moment mappings and singular lagrangian Fibrations

2005

We study singular Lagrangian fibrations given by moment mappings using cohomological methods. We give a theorem for the stability of these foliations and construct a symplectic version of Mather’s stable mapping theorem.

Internal perturbations of homoclinic classes:non-domination, cycles, and self-replication

2010

Conditions are provided under which lack of domination of a homoclinic class yields robust heterodimensional cycles. Moreover, so-called viral homoclinic classes are studied. Viral classes have the property of generating copies of themselves producing wild dynamics (systems with infinitely many homoclinic classes with some persistence). Such wild dynamics also exhibits uncountably many aperiodic chain recurrence classes. A scenario (related with non-dominated dynamics) is presented where viral homoclinic classes occur. A key ingredient are adapted perturbations of a diffeomorphism along a periodic orbit. Such perturbations preserve certain homoclinic relations and prescribed dynamical prope…
