Integration of multifunctions with closed convex values in arbitrary Banach spaces
2018
Integral properties of multifunctions with closed convex values are studied. In this more general framework not all the tools and the technique used for weakly compact convex valued multifunctions work. We pay particular attention to the "positive multifunctions". Among them an investigation of multifunctions determined by vector-valued functions is presented. Finally, decomposition results are obtained for scalarly and gauge-defined integrals of multifunctions and a full description of McShane integrability in terms of Henstock and Pettis integrability is given.
New applications of extremely regular function spaces
2017
Let $L$ be an infinite locally compact Hausdorff topological space. We show that extremely regular subspaces of $C_0(L)$ have very strong diameter $2$ properties and, for every real number $\varepsilon$ with $0<\varepsilon<1$, contain an $\varepsilon$-isometric copy of $c_0$. If $L$ does not contain isolated points they even have the Daugavet property, and thus contain an asymptotically isometric copy of $\ell_1$.
M-bornologies on L-valued Sets
2017
We develop an approach to the concept of bornology in the framework of many-valued mathematical structures. It is based on the introduced concept of an M-bornology on an L-valued set (X, E), or an LM-bornology for short; here L is an iccl-monoid, M is a completely distributive lattice and \(E: X\times X \rightarrow L\) is an L-valued equality on the set X. We develop the basics of the theory of LM-bornological spaces and initiate the study of the category of LM-bornological spaces and appropriately defined bounded “mappings” of such spaces.
Convergence of subdifferentials and normal cones in locally uniformly convex Banach space
2014
International audience; In this paper we study the behaviour of normal cones and subdifferentials with respect to two types of convergence of sets and functions: Mosco and Attouch–Wets convergences. Our analysis is devoted to proximal, Fréchet, and Mordukhovich limiting normal cones and subdifferentials. The results obtained can be seen as extensions of the Attouch theorem to the context of non-convex functions on locally uniformly convex Banach space. They also generalize, to sequences of subsmooth sets or functions, various results in the literature.
SPACES OF SMALL METRIC COTYPE
2010
Naor and Mendel's metric cotype extends the notion of the Rademacher cotype of a Banach space to all metric spaces. Every Banach space has metric cotype at least 2. We show that any metric space that is bi-Lipschitz equivalent to an ultrametric space has infinimal metric cotype 1. We discuss the invariance of metric cotype inequalities under snowflaking mappings and Gromov-Hausdorff limits, and use these facts to establish a partial converse of the main result.
On the zero-set of 2-homogeneous polynomials in Banach spaces
2018
ABSTRACTGiving a partial answer to a conjecture formulated by Aron, Boyd, Ryan and Zalduendo, we show that if a real Banach space X is not linearly and continuously injected into a Hilbert space, t...
Almost square dual Banach spaces
2020
Abstract We show that finite dimensional Banach spaces fail to be uniformly non locally almost square. Moreover, we construct an equivalent almost square bidual norm on l ∞ . As a consequence we get that every dual Banach space containing c 0 has an equivalent almost square dual norm. Finally we characterize separable real almost square spaces in terms of their position in their fourth duals.
Planar Sobolev homeomorphisms and Hausdorff dimension distortion
2011
We investigate how planar Sobolev-Orlicz homeomorphisms map sets of Hausdorff dimension less than two. With the correct gauge functions the generalized Hausdorff measures of the image sets are shown to be zero.
Generalized Hausdorff dimension distortion in Euclidean spaces under Sobolev mappings
2010
Abstract We investigate how the integrability of the derivatives of Orlicz–Sobolev mappings defined on open subsets of R n affect the sizes of the images of sets of Hausdorff dimension less than n. We measure the sizes of the image sets in terms of generalized Hausdorff measures.
Bases and quasi-reflexivity in Fréchet spaces
2005
A Frechet space E is quasi-reflexive if, either dim(E″/E) < ∞, or E″[β(E″,E′)]/E is isomorphic to ω. A Frechet space E is totally quasi-reflexive if every separated quotient is quasi-reflexive. In this paper we show, using Schauder bases, that E is totally quasi-reflexive if and only if it is isomorphic to a closed subspace of a countable product of quasi-reflexive Banach spaces.
