Y-proper graded cocharacters and codimensions of upper triangular matrices of size 2, 3, 4
2012
Abstract Let F be a field of characteristic 0. We consider the upper triangular matrices with entries in F of size 2, 3 and 4 endowed with the grading induced by that of Vasilovsky. In this paper we give explicit computation for the multiplicities of the Y -proper graded cocharacters and codimensions of these algebras.
${\cal H}^1$ -estimates of Jacobians by subdeterminants
2002
Let $f:\Omega \rightarrow{\Bbb R}^n$ be a mapping in the Sobolev space $W^{1,n-1}_{loc}(\Omega,{\Bbb R}^n), n\geq 2$ . We assume that the cofactors of the differential matrix Df(x) belong to $L^\frac{n}{n-1}(\Omega)$ . Then, among other things, we prove that the Jacobian determinant detDf lies in the Hardy space ${\cal H}^1(\Omega)$ .
Explicit expressions for totally symmetric spherical functions and symmetry-dependent properties of multipoles
2014
Closed expressions for matrix elements 〈 lm' | A (G)| lm 〉, where | lm 〉 are spherical functions and A (G) is the average of all symmetry operators of point group G, are derived for all point groups (PGs) and then used to obtain linear combinations of spherical functions that are totally symmetric under all symmetry operations of G. In the derivation, we exploit the product structure of the groups. The obtained expressions are used to explore properties of multipoles of symmetric charge distributions. We produce complete lists of selection rules for multipoles Q l and their moments Q lm , as well as of numbers of independent moments in a multipole, for any l and m and for all PGs. Periodic…
Quantum like modelling of decision making: quantifying uncertainty with the aid of the Heisenberg-Robertson inequality
2018
This paper contributes to quantum-like modeling of decision making (DM) under uncertainty through application of Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle (in the form of the Robertson inequality). In this paper we apply this instrument to quantify uncertainty in DM performed by quantum-like agents. As an example, we apply the Heisenberg uncertainty principle to the determination of mutual interrelation of uncertainties for “incompatible questions” used to be asked in political opinion pools. We also consider the problem of representation of decision problems, e.g., in the form of questions, by Hermitian operators, commuting and noncommuting, corresponding to compatible and incompatible questions …
Approximated overlap error for the evaluation of feature descriptors on 3D scenes
2013
This paper presents a new framework to evaluate feature descriptors on 3D datasets. The proposed method employs the approximated overlap error in order to conform with the reference planar evaluation case of the Oxford dataset based on the overlap error. The method takes into account not only the keypoint centre but also the feature shape and it does not require complex data setups, depth maps or an accurate camera calibration. Only a ground-truth fundamental matrix should be computed, so that the dataset can be freely extended by adding further images. The proposed approach is robust to false positives occurring in the evaluation process, which do not introduce any relevant changes in the …
Green extraction techniques in green analytical chemistry
2019
Abstract Green analytical chemistry concept, involving the development of analytical methodologies with an environmental concern, encourages the use of direct analysis to avoid any sample treatment that involves energy and reagent consumption and generation of wastes. However, the determination of target analytes at trace concentration levels or in complex matrices frequently requires previous extraction, pre-concentration, or clean-up steps offering thus, additional possibilities for greening classical methods. So, a green evaluation of alternative extraction techniques to currently used ones for the extraction of solid, liquid, and gaseous samples has been carried out in this study. Moreo…
Experimental investigation on the effectiveness of basalt-fibre strengthening systems for confining masonry elements
On the Conditions of Price Consistency in the Input-Output Model
2013
The input-ouput model remains the basis of most SAM or CGE models. It actually uses two periods: the prices indexes solve it with the current period coefficients; the corresponding physical model is monoperiodic: the current prices solve it with the base period coefficients. The Leontief model is not consistent --- both models diverge generally --- unless the interindustry matrix of direct and indirect quantities of labor is stable over time. This implies that the vertically integrated labor coefficients are stable. This assumption is satisfied when the physical production coefficients and the physical labor coefficients are stable over time, two very strong assumptions.

A Computational Technique for Solving Singularly Perturbed Delay Partial Differential Equations
2021
Abstract In this work, a matrix method based on Laguerre series to solve singularly perturbed second order delay parabolic convection-diffusion and reaction-diffusion type problems involving boundary and initial conditions is introduced. The approximate solution of the problem is obtained by truncated Laguerre series. Moreover convergence analysis is introduced and stability is explained. Besides, a test case is given and the error analysis is considered by the different norms in order to show the applicability of the method.
