Measurement invariance of the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) by gender and age in Angola
2015
Abstract Subjective well-being is a research arena that has grown almost exponentially: over the last 20 years, the number of publications on subjective well-being has increased approximately 16-fold (Diener, 2009). The cognitive aspect of subjective well-being or life satisfaction is referred to a conscious cognitive judgment of life (Diener, Emmons, Larsen, & Griffin 1985), in which person’s quality of life is globally assessed (Shin & Johnson, 1978). The Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS, Diener et al., 1985) is the most widely used instrument for its measurement. A reliable, valid and invariant measurement is critical for meaningful comparisons. The aim of this study is to examine the …
Sensitive determination of aliphatic amines in water by high-performance liquid chromatography with chemiluminescence detection.
2004
A sensitive method has been developed for liquid chromatographic determination of short aliphatic amines in water samples. Analytes are preconcentrated and dansylated on solid sorbents (C18 solid-phase extraction cartridges). The dansyl derivatives are chromatographed and post-column mixed with peroxyoxalate (TCPO) and H2O2 in order to perform chemiluminescence detection. Optimal results have been obtained using a sample volume of 5 ml. The method has been applied to the quantification or screening of several aliphatic amines: methylamine, ethylamine, butylamine, diethylamine, pentylamine and hexylamine. The screening procedure has been developed including also polyamines (putrescine, cadav…
An abstract doubly nonlinear equation with a measure as initial value
2007
Abstract The solvability of the abstract implicit nonlinear nonautonomous differential equation ( A ( t ) u ( t ) ) ′ + B ( t ) u ( t ) + C ( t ) u ( t ) ∋ f ( t ) will be investigated in the case of a measure as an initial value. It will be shown that this problem has a solution if the inner product of A ( t ) x and B ( t ) x + C ( t ) x is bounded below.
Approximating the solutions of differential inclusions driven by measures
2019
The matter of approximating the solutions of a differential problem driven by a rough measure by solutions of similar problems driven by “smoother” measures is considered under very general assumptions on the multifunction on the right-hand side. The key tool in our investigation is the notion of uniformly bounded $$\varepsilon $$-variations, which mixes the supremum norm with the uniformly bounded variation condition. Several examples to motivate the generality of our outcomes are included.
Structural and electrical study of the topological insulator SnBi2Te4 at high pressures
2016
We report high-pressure X-ray diffraction and electrical measurements of the topological insulator SnBi2Te4 at room temperature. The pressure dependence of the structural properties of the most stable phase of SnBi2Te4 at ambient conditions (trigonal phase) have been experimentally determined and compared with results of our ab initio calculations. Furthermore, a comparison of SnBi2Te4 with the parent compound Bi2Te3 shows that the central TeSnTe trilayer, which substitutes the Te layer at the center of the TeBiTeBiTe layers of Bi2Te3, plays a minor role in the compression of SnBi2Te4. Similar to Bi2Te3, our resistance measurements and electronic band structure simulations in SnBi2Te4 at hi…
{[Cu(H2O)3][Cu(phmal)2]}n: a new two-dimensional copper(ii) complex with intralayer ferromagnetic interactions (phmal = phenylmalonate dianion)
2003
The novel sheet-like copper(II) compound of formula {[Cu(H2O)3][Cu(Phmal)2]}n (1) (Phmal = dianion of phenylmalonic acid) has been synthesized and its crystal structure determined by X-ray diffraction. The structure of 1 consists of 21 chains of carboxylate(phenylmalonate)-bridged copper(II) ions which are linked through double μ-oxo(carboxylate) units to afford a two-dimensional network. The interlayer space is filled by the phenyl rings of the phenylmalonate ligands that exhibit offset face-to-face interactions. Variable-temperature magnetic measurements of 1 show the occurrence of significant intralayer ferromagnetic interactions between the copper(II) ions through anti–syn carboxylate- …
Structural and magnetic properties of Fe2CoGa Heusler nanoparticles
2012
Abstract Fe2CoGa Heusler nanoparticles are synthesized by a chemical method. The structure and magnetic properties of Fe2CoGa Heusler nanoparticles are investigated by x-ray diffraction, extended x-ray absorption fine structure and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The crystal structure of Fe2CoGa nanoparticles is described by the X-type structure (prototype: Li2AgSb). Magnetic measurements reveal the presence of small Fe2CoGa nanoparticles and lower magnetic moments compared with the theoretically predicted values.
COMPARING PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION ANALYSIS BY SEDIMENTATION AND LASER DIFFRACTION METHOD
2009
In this paper a brief review of the laser diffraction method is firstly carried out. Then, for 30 soil samples having a different texture classification sampled in Sicilian basin, a comparison between the two techniques is developed. The analysis demonstrated that the sand content measured by Sieve-Hydrometer method can be assumed equal to the one determinated by laser diffraction technique while an overestimation of the clay fraction measured by Sieve-Hydrometer method respect to laser diffraction technique was obtained. Finally a set of equations useful to refer LD measurements to SH method was proposed.
Degree of coherence: a lensless measuring technique.
2009
We present a technique for measuring the degree of coherence that is based on the self-imaging phenomenon. The technique is lensless, has multiplexing capabilities, and can work with high light throughput. Experimental verifications are given.
New rotational levels in $^{186}$Re nucleus
2020
International audience; Excited levels of 186 Re have been studied using results of the single γ -ray spectra measurements following the thermal neutron capture reaction. Energies and intensities of more than 500 γ -transitions have been obtained with the high-resolution crystal diffraction spectrometer GAMS5 of ILL. Most of the obtained intense γ -transitions have been placed in the 186 Re level scheme. A number of new levels, as well as the depopulation for levels observed earlier in the 187 Re (p,d)186 Re reaction measurements have been proposed. Structure of 186 Re levels is interpreted in terms of two-quasiparticle plus rotor coupling model and compared with that of the neighbouring do…
