Screening of pharmacologic adulterant classes in herbal formulations using voltammetry of microparticles.
2013
A solid state electrochemical method for screening different families of adulterant chemicals illegally added to commercial phytotherapuetic formulations is described. The proposed method, based on the voltammetry of microparticles approach, permits a fast and sensitive way to distinguish between anorexics (amfepramone, fenproporex, sibutramine), benzozodiazepinic anxiolytics (clonazepam, flurazepam, alprazolam, midazolam, medazepam, chlordiazepoxide, diazepam), antidepressants (bupropione, fluoxetine, sertraline, paroxetine), diuretics (hydrochlorothiazide, furosemide, chlortalidone, amiloride, spironolactone), and hypoglycemics (glimepiride, chlorpropamide, glibenclamide) based on charact…
Low-temperature phosphorescence of 1,4-benzodiazepines
1991
Abstract A highly sensitive method for the low-temperature phosphorescence determination of a series of 1,4-benzodiazepines has been developed. Oxazepam has been used as a test molecule to study the effects of instrumental parameters, such as time decay, gate time, excitation and emission slits, and ordinate, on the phosphorescence spectra. The corresponding analytical parameters have been established for different concentration levels. Under the best sensitivity conditions a limit of detection of 16 parts per trillion (ppt) for oxazepam, 3.8 ppt for medazepam, 2 ppt for prazepam, 5 × 10 −3 ppt for diazepam, and 0.09 ppt for lorazepam could be obtained. The proposed method is thus the most …
A micellar liquid chromatographic method for quality control of pharmaceutical preparations containing tricyclic antidepressants
2002
Micellar liquid chromatography methods for quality control of pharmaceutical preparations (capsules, pills, tablets, injections) containing the tricyclic antidepressants amineptine, amitriptiline, clomipramine, doxepin, imipramine, melitracen and nortriptyline alone or together with other CNS drugs like diazepam, medazepam and perphenazine are described. The methods using micellar solutions of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as mobile phases and UV detection are rapid and reproducible. Due to the versatility of interactions in micellar liquid chromatography, it is possible determine highly hydrophobic compounds such as TCAs in a short time using mobile phases containing low organic solvent c…
