Xanthone-photosensitized detoxification of the veterinary anthelmintic fenbendazole
2013
Fenbendazole (1) is a common veterinary anthelmintic, toxic to water living microorganisms. Fluorescence quantum yields of 1 were found to be 0.11 in acetonitrile, 0.068 in methanol, 0.034 in cyclohexane, and 0.013 in water. The singlet excited state energy was ca. 96 kcal mol(-1) in all solvents. The phosphorescence spectrum of 1 in ethanol at 77 K displayed a maximum at 450 nm, leading to a triplet energy of 75 kcal mol(-1). Experimental excited state energies agree well with the results of OFT calculations at the time-dependent B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p)//B3LYP/6-31G(d) level. Laser flash photolysis (LFP) of 1 at 266 nm led to transients absorbing in the 300-700 nm range, ascribed to radical cat…
Meaning in Life Mediates Between Emotional Deregulation and Eating Disorders Psychopathology: A Research From the Meaning-Making Model of Eating Diso…
2021
Emotional dysregulation, age, gender, and obesity are transdiagnostic risk factors for the development and maintenance of eating disorders (EDs). Previous studies found that patients with ED had less meaning in life than the non-clinical population, and that meaning in life acted as a buffer in the course of ED; however, to the data, there are no studies about the mediator role of meaning in life in association between the emotional dysregulation and the ED psychopathology. Objective: To analyze the mediating role of meaning in life in the relationship between emotional dysregulation and the ED psychopathology in three samples with diverse risk factors for ED.Method: Sample 1, n = 153 underg…
Constraining the spin-dependent WIMP-nucleon cross sections with XENON1T
2019
We report the first experimental results on spin-dependent elastic weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) nucleon scattering from the XENON1T dark matter search experiment. The analysis uses the full ton year exposure of XENON1T to constrain the spin-dependent proton-only and neutron-only cases. No significant signal excess is observed, and a profile likelihood ratio analysis is used to set exclusion limits on the WIMP-nucleon interactions. This includes the most stringent constraint to date on the WIMP-neutron cross section, with a minimum of 6.3 × 10−42 cm2 at 30 GeV/c2 and 90% confidence level. The results are compared with those from collider searches and used to exclude new paramet…
Hydrogen peroxide as a biodegradation stimulator in remediation processes of soils heavily contaminated with petrochemicals
2015
Abstract The soil contaminated with petroleum products must be excluded from the crops and treated to reclamation processes. Natural processes of decomposition of hydrocarbon compounds go very slow, so it is necessary to use bioaugumentation or stimulation in order to accelerate the return of the soil to high culture. In this study the effect of hydrogen peroxide on the process of cleaning soil strongly contaminated with pertochemicals was investigated. For this purpose, a pot experiment lasting 60 days was carried. The dynamics of changes in the population of filamentous fungi, yeasts and bacteria were examined and also content of aliphatic hydrocarbons (n-alkanes), monoaromatic and polycy…
Photo-Electrochemical Technologies for Removing Organic Compounds in Wastewater
2018
Abstract In recent years, electrochemical technologies for the prevention and remediation of environmental pollution have been strongly developed. A review of photoelelectrocatalysis (PEC) for the treatment of wastewater is presented in this chapter. Different types of photo-anodes and cathodes have been developed and studied to increase the efficiency of PEC for the removal of organic compounds. An interesting parameter that was investigated in the last work is the generation of an active species by the utilization of proper cathodes. Moreover, this chapter deals with the keys factors affecting the PEC, including electrolyte oxidation.
Assessing impacts of soil management measures on ecosystem services
2018
Only a few studies have quantified and measured ecosystem services (ES) specifically related to soil. To address this gap, we have developed and applied a methodology to assess changes in ecosystem services, based on measured or estimated soil property changes that were stimulated by soil management measures (e.g., mulching, terracing, no-till). We applied the ES assessment methodology in 16 case study sites across Europe representing a high diversity of soil threats and land use systems. Various prevention and remediation measures were trialled, and the changes in manageable soil and other natural capital properties were measured and quantified. An Excel tool facilitated data collection, c…
2020
Intermediaries are little studied in Management Science. The research proposes to put forward a particular type of intermediary that is the wholesaler. Faced with the digitization of all sectors, it is interesting to question the capacity of wholesalers to generate added value in the distribution channel. Based on the triadic methodology and the field of study, it turns out that digital can modify one of the inter-organizational relational processes. In the absence of a strong demand for downstream distribution channels, wholesalers are struggling to put in place a digital strategy that makes sense. On the other hand, this delay allows the industrialist to take the lead on information flows…
The Influence of the Digitalisation of the Distribution Channel in the Process of Bypassing Wholesalers: The Case of a Distribution Triad
2022
• ObjectivesThe wholesaler, a traditional player in distribution, has been going through a new phase in its evolution over the last twenty years. Driven by the digitalisation of activities, upstream and downstream players are trying to bypass it and new players such as commercial platforms are appearing. In order to understand this phenomenon, this research analyses how the wholesaler manages to keep a part of the flows between the actors of the distribution channel.• MethodA qualitative analysis by individual interviews within the building materials sector highlights the appropriation of informational flows by manufacturers leading to the phenomenon of partial disintermediation which affec…
Resistance of traditional wholesalers: a dichotomy of flows within the distribution channel
2020
The wholesaler has often been threatened with the risk of disintermediation both upstream and downstream of the distribution channel. Wholesalers, in their role as intermediaries, remain established in many sectors. The Internet has also generated a current of re-intermediation via digital platforms. The article starts from the premise that wholesalers are always essential players in the distribution channel and increase their value proposition through services and digital. As part of a qualitative study in the French market for the sale of building materials, an interesting phenomenon emerged. It is the partial disintermediation of wholesalers for the benefit of industrialists. This partia…
