Leishmaniasis among organ transplant recipients.
2008
Leishmaniasis is a rarely reported disease among transplant recipients; however, the number of published cases has quadrupled since the beginning of the 1990s. Most cases have been observed in patients living in countries of the Mediterranean basin. Leishmaniasis is most commonly associated with kidney transplantation (77%), and cases are also recorded among patients undergoing liver, heart, lung, pancreas, and bone marrow transplantation. Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is the most frequently observed clinical presentation, followed by mucosal leishmaniasis and more rarely cutaneous leishmaniasis. Dietary strategy for prevention and management of dyslipidemia: international guidelines
2012
Primary prevention of cardiovascular disease should begin with a detailed metabolic study of our patients who must follow a nutritional therapy. Recently, new guidelines ESC/EAS 2011 on the treatment of dyslipidemia have been drawn up, according to which it is possible to arrive at desirable values of cholesterol and triglycerides with a synergy between drug treatment and adequate diet therapy. At this time, Mediterranean diet has been undergoing a radical transformation: there is hyperalimentation of the Mediterranean diet in all its components. The effectiveness of the Mediterranean diet on the reduction of lipids has been demonstrated, and the problem is how to implement this diet in the…

2013
Background: Studies exploring the role of diet during pregnancy are still scarce, in part due to the complexity of measuring diet and to the lack of valid instruments. Methods: Participants were 740 pregnant women from a population-based birth cohort study in Valencia (INMA Study). Mediterranean transcriptions in Sicily
