Immune cells in colorectal cancer: prognostic relevance and therapeutic strategies.
2008
During the last two decades, considerable efforts have been made to improve the prevention, early diagnosis and therapy of colorectal cancer by gaining enhanced insights into disease-specific pathogenesis. Along these lines, tumor-infiltrating immune cells turned out to be critical indicators for an efficient antitumor immune response and the number and type of tumor-infiltrating immune cells determined the resulting tumor prognosis. This review aims to describe the prognostic relevance of the different subsets of tumor-infiltrating immune cells and highlights their specific function in the complex process of immune system-mediated rejection of colorectal cancer cells. Considering the clini…
Temperature Cues Bias the Memory of Trustworthiness of Faces
2016
Humans rely on temperature cues to navigate and make sense of their social world. In two experiments we find that part of this process can be detected in the perception and memory of faces. We conducted two studies to find this effect through a method called “reverse correlation”, where we average a face over a large amount of trials. For participants who experienced physical warmth (vs. cold) at the initial confrontation with a face we found that the average of the trials displayed a psychologically warmer face (judged by independent raters). Excluding the possibility of a “carry-over” effect, in Study 2 we replicated the Study 1 effect, but only if physical warmth (vs. cold) preceded the …

Recent developments in chalcogenide photonic crystal fibres
2011
Elaboration of low-losses highly non linear chalcogenide optical fibers for the generation of efficient non linear effects in the infrared remains a challenge. In recent years, much work has been devoted to the study of microstructured optical fibers (MOFs) with different designs and various elaboration processes. Their background losses were typically of several dB/m.
Étude expérimentale de l'usage des organisateurs para-linguistiques de mise en retrait dans les documents électroniques
1997
This paper deals with what is called here paralinguistic organizers i.e. textual devices like underlining, brackets, footnotes, and, on screen, pop up fields,... In the frame of the theory of discourse comprehension (van Dijk & Kintsch, 1983) it is proposed to view technical texts as tools, more or less efficient, that readers use to build their representation (situation model). It is known that the schematic superstructure of a text can significantly enhance its comprehension and memorization. It is assumed here that another kind of text structure could play a similar role i.e. the structure based on the main points / secondary points distinction. More generally a text can be viewed as a s…
KM/OM/OL systems and technologies
2004
The systems and technologies mini track of the knowledge management, organizational memory and organizational learning research cluster addresses technical issues and tools for building and supporting knowledge management, organizational memory, and organizational learning systems. Sixteen papers were considered in this mini track. We wish to express our thanks to all of those authors who submitted their work. We would also like to thank the 31 individuals who gave their time and effort in providing reviews of the submitted manuscripts. The mini track could not exist without their diligent efforts. The six accepted papers describe both conceptual and working systems.
