Validity of Landauer principle and quantum memory effects via collision models

We study the validity of Landauer principle in the non-Markovian regime by means of collision models where the intracollisions inside the reservoir cause memory effects generating system-environment correlations. We adopt the system-environment correlations created during the dynamical process to assess the effect of non-Markovianity on the Landauer principle. Exploiting an exact equality for the entropy change of the system, we find the condition for the violation of the Landauer principle, which occurs when the established system-environment correlations become larger than the entropy production of the system. Controlling the non-Markovian dynamics of open quantum systems is essential in quantum information technology since it plays a crucial role in preserving quantum memory. Albeit in many realistic scenarios the quantum system can simultaneously interact with composite environments, this condition remains little understood, particularly regarding the effect of the coupling between environmental parts. Associative Memory Based on Double-Gating of Molecularly Linked Nanosystem Arrays:  A Theoretical Scheme

We discuss theoretically the properties of an associative memory (a system that can retrieve a stored pattern that is similar to the input pattern) based on the ideal conductive properties of a molecularly linked nanosystem array. Two schemes are considered for the memory based on the gate potential modulation of the drain-source current through the array. In the first scheme, the basic units of the electric circuit are nanosystems (e.g., nanoparticles) arranged in a series array. Memory expansion for diffusion coefficients

We present a memory expansion for macroscopic transport coefficients such as the collective and tracer diffusion coefficients ${D}_{C}$ and ${D}_{T},$ respectively. The successive terms in this expansion for ${D}_{C}$ describe rapidly decaying memory effects of the center-of-mass motion, leading to fast convergence when evaluated numerically. For ${D}_{T},$ one obtains an expansion of similar form that contains terms describing memory effects in single-particle motion. Translational animal models for studying post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are valuable for elucidating the poorly understood neurobiology of this neuropsychiatric disorder. These models should encompass crucial features, including persistence of PTSD-like phenotypes triggered after exposure to a single traumatic event, trauma susceptibility/resilience and predictive validity. Learning can be detrimental for a parasitic wasp

Animals have evolved the capacity to learn, and the conventional view is that learning allows individuals to improve foraging decisions. The parasitoid Telenomus podisi has been shown to parasitize eggs of the exotic stink bug Halyomorpha halys at the same rate as eggs of its coevolved host, Podisus maculiventris, but the parasitoid cannot complete its development in the exotic species. We hypothesized that T. podisi learns to exploit cues from this non-coevolved species, thereby increasing unsuccessful parasitism rates. This suggests that a competitive interaction occurs between right and left odor processing pathways of which the procerebral lobe is a part.
