In everyday communication metaphoric expressions are frequently used to refer to abstract concepts, such as feelings or mental states. Patients with depression are said to prefer literal over figurative language, i.e. they may show a concreteness bias. Given that both emotional functioning and the processing of figurative language may be altered in this clinical population, our study aims at investigating whether and how these dysfunctions are reflected in the understanding and production of metaphorical expressions for internal states. Research literature in the dementia field lacks examples of ‘best-practices’ demonstrating concretely how it is possible to support the sense of coherence in people with dementia. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the nurses’ views concerning a caring approach that may support the sense of coherence in people with dementia. The data were collected through participant observation and focus group interviews during a four-month period in 2011. Based on examples taken in the 20th and 21st centuries (Debussy, Berg, Webern, Stravinsky, Stockhausen, Kagel, Ferrari, La Monte Young, Xenakis, Adams, De Chizy, De Mey, Trapani?), musicological study ultimately deduces that the metaphor of movement is for man an experience considered fundamental to his particular relationship to the world.

Šajā bakalaura darbā tiek pētīti nosaukšanas strateģias Kena Kizijā romānā „Kāds pārlaidās pār dzeguzes ligzdu” (1962). Šī darbā mērķis ir noskaidrot, kā tēlu vārdu izveidošana stratēģijas, iespējami varētu ietekmēt uz kopējo personāža tēlu. Lai veiktu analīzi, tika noteikts teorētiskais pamats. Šī pētījuma empīriskās daļas metode ir teksta analīze. Analīzes korpusā tika izpetīti 14 varoņu vārdi, kuri tika izvēlēti saskaņā ar to nozīmi sižetā attistībā. Turklāt, tika izpetīt iespējami vārdu veidošanas strateģijas, ka arī analīzi izteiksmīgos līdzekļus izvēlētos vārdos.
