Prey-predator strategies in a multiagent system

2006

This paper describes the prey-predator multiagent system which can be considered as an abstraction of more complex real-world models. Both the prey and the predators are considered as autonomous agents with their own behaviors and perception of the environment. In particular, we propose a simulator which lets study different strategies such as cooperation and individualism. An extensive experiment has been carried out in order to prove the effectiveness of the latter.

This paper presents a solution to the inverse electrical problem for the interpretation of apparent resistivity anomalies due to empty buried cavities of quasi-spherical shape when tripotential measures are carried out. The anomalies of the apparent resistivities ra,rb andrg,and the composed resistivitiesrmand rt were previously calculated for a sufficient class of spherical models of resistivity anomalies. Discovery of 5-benzyl-3-phenyl-4,5-dihydroisoxazoles and 5-benzyl-3-phenyl-1,4,2-dioxazoles as potent firefly luciferase inhibitors.

Luciferase reporter assays are commonly used in high-throughput screening methods. Here, we report new firefly luciferase (FLuc) inhibitors based on 5-benzyl-3-phenyl-4,5-dihydroisoxazoles and 5-benzyl-3-phenyl-1,4,2-dioxazoles, which showed up as "false positives" in a luciferase reporter gene-based assay for nuclear receptor antagonists. The inhibition was shown to be noncompetitive for both natural enzyme substrates (d-luciferin and ATP) and selective to FLuc and proven to arise from a direct interaction between the enzyme and the inhibitor. The corresponding symptoms can be presented as under benign form (rhinitis, conjunctivitis, cough) as under much more serious form : asthma. Forecast of the starting date of an allergic exposure risk to pollens is necessary from a sanitary and preventive standpoint. Forecast has to be more precisely as possible in order to begin anti-allergic treatments at appropriate moment, with a view of effectiveness and reduction of the costs due to this disease. Metabolic profiles of amniotic fluid and maternal blood are sources of valuable information about fetus development and can be potentially useful in diagnosis of pregnancy disorders. In this study, we applied 1H NMR-based metabolic profiling to track metabolic changes occurring in amniotic fluid (AF) and plasma (PL) of healthy mothers over the course of pregnancy. Aims To study how MTHFR 677C→T genotype modulates the effect of supplementation with B-vitamins on total homocysteine (tHcy) and B-vitamin concentrations. Methods 2381 patients with a personal history of cardiovascular disease were randomly assigned to one of four groups: 1) B-vitamins alone (560 μg of 5-methyl-THF, 3 mg of vitamin B6 and 20 μg of vitamin B12), 2) n-3 fatty acids alone (600 mg of EPA and DHA in a 2:1 ratio), 3) B-vitamins and n-3 fatty acids, and 4) placebo. Autoimmunity seen through the SEREX-scope.

Autoantibodies can be detected in autoimmune diseases with a long prodromal phase and may serve as early indicators of disease activity. Autoantibody-based screening methods are therefore potent tools for the identification of target antigens. The SEREX method (serological identification of antigens by recombinant expression cloning) has been developed for the serological definition of immunogenic tumor antigens. Recent studies indicate that the SEREX approach may also be utilized for the analysis of complex immune responses involved in autoimmune diseases.

Space-VLBI phase-reference mapping and astrometry

We present 5 GHz space-VLBI observations of the quasar pair B1342+662/B1342+663 that demonstrate the feasibility of phase-reference techniques using an antenna in space. The space-based data were taken by the satellite HALCA, of the space-VLBI mission VSOP. From residual (referenced) phases we derive an upper bound of 10 meters to the uncertainty of the spacecraft orbit reconstruction. An analysis of the phase-reference maps of the sources additionally suggests that the above mentioned uncertaintyis likely not larger than 3 meters. With errors of this magnitude, HALCA is a useful tool for astrometric studies of close pairs of radio sources.
