Molecular structure of p -methylaniline and its van der Waals complexes with CF 3 H, CH 4 and CF 4 studied by laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy…

2002

The UV fluorescence excitation and dispersed fluorescence spectra of jet-cooled p-methylaniline have been obtained for the S1←S0 transition. The main spectral bands have been assigned by comparison with those of other relevant substituted benzenes and with the help of computed vibrational frequencies. The structure of p-methylaniline in both the S0 and S1 states has been studied at ab initio quantum chemical calculations at MP2 and CIS levels of theory using the 6-31+G∗ basis sets. Both low- and high-resolution laser induced fluorescence spectra of p-methylaniline van der Waals complexes with CF3H, CH4 and CF4 have been characterised following jet-expansion investigations. The equilibrium g…

Ab initioanalysis on metal ion catalysis in the enolization reactions of some acetylheterocycles: kinetics of the enolization reactions of 3-acetyl-5…

2002

Kinetic data on the enolization reaction of 3-acetyl-5-methylisoxazole, 5-acetyl-3-methylisoxazole, 3(5)-acetylpyrazole and some previously studied acetylheterocycles have been the object of a comprehensive ab initio analysis. Enolization rate constants were measured spectrophotometrically by the halogen trapping technique at 25 °C and ionic strength of 0.3 mol dm−3 in water, in acetate buffers, in dilute hydrochloric acid, in dilute sodium hydroxide and in the presence of some metal ion salts. In the spontaneous (water) and base (acetate) catalysed reactions the ketones investigated are generally more reactive than acetophenone, according to the electron-withdrawing effect of the heterocyc…

Preliminary evaluation of durum wheat (Triticum Turgidum Subsp Durum) during malting process:

2018

Durum (T. turgidum subsp. durum) wheat production worldwide is substantially less than that of common wheat (Triticum aestivum) mainly due to the relatively limited end-users. In order to evaluate malting and brewing suitability, sixteen old durum wheat landraces were malted at micro scale. Results show malt quality parameters in the range 78.2–85.9% for the extract, 72.9–80.9% for the fermentability, 3–5 EBC units for the colour, 0.49–0.79% dm for water-extractable arabinoxylans and 0.043–0.059% dm for the β-glucans. Regarding wort viscosity (1.53–1.92 mPa s), we found negative correlation with endo-1,4-β-D-xylanase, positive correlation with endo-β-glucanases and soluble proteins, while n…

Assessment of a single-acquisition imaging sequence for oxygen-sensitive (3)He-MRI.

2001

MRI of the lungs using hyperpolarized helium-3 (3He) allows the determination of intrapulmonary oxygen partial pressures (pO2). The need to separate competing processes of signal loss has hitherto required two different imaging series during two different breathing maneuvers. In this work, a new imaging strategy to measure pO2 by a single series of consecutive scans is presented. The feasibility of the method is demonstrated in three healthy human volunteers. Maps and histograms of intrapulmonary pO2 are calculated. Changes in the oxygen concentration of the inhaled gas mixture are well reproduced in the histograms. Monte Carlo (MC) simulations of the temporal evolution of 3He hyperpolariza…

Studies of a molecular hourglass: synthesis and magnetic characterisation of a cyclic dodecanuclear {Cr10Cu2} complex.

2006

The synthesis, structure, EPR, and magnetic studies of two dodecanuclear heterometallic cyclic clusters are reported. The compounds have the general formula [R(2)NH(2)](2)[Cr(10)Cu(2)F(14)(O(2)CCMe(3))(22)] (R=Me, 1 or iPr, 2). Both structures contain an array of metal centers which describe an approximate "hourglass", with an ammonium cation in the center of each half of the figure. The chromium sites are all six-coordinate, with the two copper sites five-coordinate. The majority of metal-metal edges are bridged by a single fluoride and two pivalate ligands, while two Cr--Cu edges are bridged by a single fluoride and a single pivalate. Magnetic studies show that 1 and 2 exhibit similar (bu…

Calculations of the atomic structure of the KNbO3 (110) surface

2000

Abstract The O-terminated KNbO 3 (110) surface is modeled using a semi-empirical shell model and two different short-range interatomic potentials. We find this surface to be unstable with respect to a strong reconstruction and K-termination. This conclusion is confirmed by preliminary calculations using the ab initio linear combination of atomic orbitals (LCAO) formalism.

Quantum dynamical study of the O(1D) + CH4→ CH3+ OH atmospheric reaction

2014

Time independent quantum mechanical (TIQM) scattering calculations have been carried out for the O((1)D) + CH4(X(1)A1) → CH3(X(2)A2″) + OH(X(2)Π) atmospheric reaction, using an ab initio ground potential energy surface where the CH3 group is described as a pseudo-atom. Total and state-to-state reaction probabilities for a total angular momentum J = 0 have been determined for collision energies up to 0.5 eV. The vibrational and rotational state OH product distributions show no specific behavior. The rate coefficient has been calculated by means of the J-shifting approach in the 10-500 K temperature range and slightly depends on T at ordinary temperatures (as expected for a barrierless reacti…

ChemInform Abstract: 1,6-π-Electrocyclization of 3-Vinyl-Functionalized N,N′-Dimethyl-2,2′-bisindolyl: Some Analysis of the Educt Transformation Proc…

2010

The thermally and photochemically induced 1,6-π-electrocyclization reaction of 3-vinyl-functionalized N, N'-dimethyl-2,2′-bisindolyls 4 has been analysed and some reactivity aspects are presented. On the basis of time dependent 1H nmr and uv spectroscopic measurements the educt transformations can be observed in detail. Some results of the isomerization process of the educts are also given.

Authentication of protected designation of origin artichokes by spectroscopy methods

2016

Abstract Artichoke samples with the protected designation of origin (PDO) ‘Alcachofa de Benicarlo’ were discriminated from those produced in other towns surrounding Valencia and Murcia, outside the PDO frame. Inductively coupled plasma (ICP-OES), near infrared (NIR) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) were assayed in order to achieve a correct sample classification of the three different origin sample groups (Benicarlo, Valencia and Murcia). Chemometrics was used to compare the ability of classification of artichoke from their origin by using concentration data of mineral elements, determined by ICP-OES, NIR spectra and XRF spectra. Multivariate analysis tools, as principal component analysis (PCA…

Determination of the Relative Stereochemistry of Flexible Organic Compounds by Ab Initio Methods: Conformational Analysis and Boltzmann-Averaged GIAO…

2002

Ab initio calculations at the Hartree-Fock level with full-geometry optimization using the 6-31G(d) basis set, and GIAO (gauge including atomic orbitals) 1 3 C NMR chemical shifts, are presented here as a support in the study of the stereochemistry of low-polar organic compounds having an openchain structure. Four linear stereoisomers, fragments of a natural product previously characterized by experimental 1 3 C NMR spectra, which possesses three stereogenic centers, 11 carbon atoms, and 38 atoms in total, were considered. Conformational searches, by empirical force-field molecular dynamics, pointed out the existence of 8-13 relevant conformers per stereoisomer. Thermochemical calculations …
