DNA minor groove binders: an overview on molecular modeling and QSAR approaches

2007

Molecular recognition of DNA by small molecules and proteins is a fundamental problem in structural biology and drug design. Understanding of recognition in both sequence-selective and sequence neutral ways at the level of successful prediction of binding modes and site selectivity will be instrumental for improvements in the design and synthesis of new molecules as potent and selective gene-regulatory drugs. Minor groove is the target of a large number of non-covalent binding agents. DNA binding with specific sequences, mostly AT, takes place by means of a combination of directed hydrogen bonding to base pair edges, van der Waals interactions with the minor groove walls and generalized ele…

Revealing the unique features of each individual's muscle activation signatures

2021

International audience; There is growing evidence that each individual has unique movement patterns, or signatures. The exact origin of these movement signatures, however, remains unknown. We developed an approach that can identify individual muscle activation signatures during two locomotor tasks (walking and pedalling). A linear support vector machine was used to classify 78 participants based on their electromyographic (EMG) patterns measured on eight lower limb muscles. To provide insight into decision-making by the machine learning classification model, a layer-wise relevance propagation (LRP) approach was implemented. This enabled the model predictions to be decomposed into relevance …

Adaptive independent vector analysis for multi-subject complex-valued fMRI data.

2017

Abstract Background Complex-valued fMRI data can provide additional insights beyond magnitude-only data. However, independent vector analysis (IVA), which has exhibited great potential for group analysis of magnitude-only fMRI data, has rarely been applied to complex-valued fMRI data. The main challenges in this application include the extremely noisy nature and large variability of the source component vector (SCV) distribution. New method To address these challenges, we propose an adaptive fixed-point IVA algorithm for analyzing multiple-subject complex-valued fMRI data. We exploited a multivariate generalized Gaussian distribution (MGGD)- based nonlinear function to match varying SCV dis…

Dépendance de la fatigue à la longueur musculaire : approche mécanique et neurophysiologique

2006

The objective of this work is to evaluate the fatigue dependency on the knee extensor muscles length. Exercises varying the type of contraction (isometric and eccentric) and intensity of contraction (maximal and sub-maximal) are performed in order to disrupt the neuromuscular system by different factors of fatigue: central and peripheral. These exercises are performed at two muscular lengths (S and L, corresponding respectively to 40 and 100° of knee flexion). Neuromuscular parameters (maximal torque, muscular twitch, voluntary activation level, electromyographic activity, etc.) are analyzed in pre- and post-fatigue conditions in the type of contraction required by the fatiguing exercise. I…

Multifunctionality: Epistemic diversity and concept oriented research clusters

2008

International audience; This paper provides a mapping of the different uses of the word multifunctionality. To explore the diversity of meanings and interpretations, a comparative analysis was conducted through five national case studies in France, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Switzerland. The analysis conducted at national level makes it possible to identify eight Concept Oriented Research Clusters (CORCs), based on a relative homogeneity in the research practices, in the research questions addressed, in the concepts used or discussed by scientists to lead their work and in the scientific disciplines, the stream of thought or possibly the epistemic community researchers belong to. Modes katalogu dizaina vizuālā stilistika

2020

Latvijas Universitātes Pedagoģijas, psiholoģijas un mākslas fakultātes Datorgrafikas nodaļas Mākslas profesionālā bakalaura studiju programmas 4. kursa studentes Lauras Anspokas (Stud. apl. Nr. la16037) diplomdarbā „Modes katalogu vizuālā stilistika” tiek pētīta modes katalogu pielietojamība un attīstības tendences mūsdienās, kā arī Latvijas dizaineru radītās modes skatāmgrāmatas jeb katalogi. Diplomdarbā ir trīs daļas. Teorētiskajā daļā tiek apkopota informācija par modes katalogu vēsturi, to attīstības gaitu līdz mūsdienām, modes katalogu veidiem. Empīriskajā daļā tiek apskatītas un analizētas mūsdienu Latvijas dizaineru radītās modes skatāmgrāmatas un katalogi pēc četriem autores izveido…

Synergistic effects of multiwalled carbon nanotubes and Al on the electrochemical hydrogen storage properties of Mg2Ni-type alloy prepared by mechani…

2012

Abstract Mg 2− x Al x Ni ( x  = 0, 0.25) electrode alloys with and without multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) have been prepared by mechanical alloying (MA) under argon atmosphere at room temperature using a planetary high-energy ball mill. The microstructures of synthesized alloys are characterized by XRD, SEM and TEM. XRD analysis results indicate that Al substitution results in the formation of AlNi-type solid solution that can interstitially dissolve hydrogen atoms. In contrast, the addition of MWCNTs hardly affects the XRD patterns. SEM observations show that after co-milling with 5 wt. % MWCNTs, the particle sizes of both Mg 2 Ni and Mg 1.75 Al 0.25 Ni milled alloys are decreased e…
