Caractérisation moléculaire de l’évolution des communautés microbiennes de sols du dispositif EFELE sur la période 2012-2021 : impact de l'apport de …

2022

It is becoming increasingly difficult to feed the growing population and it is therefore important to doeverything possible to improve our agriculture. To do this, a device called "EFELE" was created in 2012 toobserve how the soil reacts over a period of 20 years. This is essential for cultivation and allows us to obtainvarious information, including bio-indicators. The years 2012 and 2021 will be treated in order to define theamount of DNA in the soil, the microbial balance, the richness and diversity of the soil. In order to study howagriculture could be improved, different trials have been established. One of them studies the effects of theinput of organic waste products (OWPs) from live…

Development of economic MeV-ion microbeam technology at Chiang Mai University

2017

Developing high technologies but in economic manners is necessary and also feasible for developing countries. At Chiang Mai University, Thailand, we have developed MeV-ion microbeam technology based on a 1.7-MV Tandetron tandem accelerator with our limited resources in a cost-effective manner. Instead of using expensive and technically complex electrostatic or magnetic quadrupole focusing lens systems, we have developed cheap MeV-ion microbeams using programmed L-shaped blade aperture and capillary techniques for MeV ion beam lithography or writing and mapping. The programmed L-shaped blade micro-aperture system consists of a pair of L-shaped movable aperture pieces which are controlled by …

Biotechnologies for identification of microorganisrns colonizing aerosol and surfaces of works of art in indoor environrnents

2012

Biological deterioration of organic and inorganic objects is a compIex process involving a relevant number of microbi al species. Particularly. fungi é1nd bacteria, wide spread in biosphere environments, are the main microorganisms related to the biodeterioration o[ cultural property. Moreover, complex microbial communities can relcase, in indoor environments, metabolic products or other airborne particles that may be detrimenral for human health, In order lo identify the components of microbial populations colonizing surfaces of works o[ art and/ or dispersed in thc aerosol of confìned/semi-confined environments, a molecular approach was laken. Samples were collected by non-destructive tec…

Effect of seasonality on physico-chemical and microbiological properties of nicastrese milk and artisanal cheese

2021

ABSTRACT Nicastrese is an indigenous Italian goat breed reared in the Calabria region under semi-extensive practices. From January to June, the milk yield of 400 multiparous Nicastrese goats was evaluated. In addition, tank milk and ripened cheese samples were subjected to physico-chemical and microbiological analyses with the aim to assess the effect of the seasonality on quality parameters. The volatile organic compounds profile of the ripened Nicastrese cheese samples was evaluated. Results showed that the seasonality had a significant effect on milk fat, lactose, urea, citric acid contents and acidity. Microbiological analysis of tank milk samples revealed variability among the differen…

Microbial fuel cell with Cu-B cathode and KMnO4 catholyte

2017

The increasing of standard living causes the increases energy consumption and waste or wastewater production. The possibility to combine wastewater treatment and electricity production can accomplish a microbial fuel cell. The possibility of wastewater treatment using the Cu-B catalyst with KMnO4 catholyte for microbial fuel cells is presented in this paper. The measurements covered comparison of changes in the concentration of COD, NH4+ and NO3- in the reactor without aeration, with aeration and with using a microbial fuel cell (with Cu-B cathode and KMnO4 catholyte). The reduction time for COD with the use of microbial fuel cell with the Cu-B catalyst (and KMnO4 catholyte) is similar to t…

Electricity production in microbial fuel cell with Cu-B alloy as catalyst of anode

2015

Considering the increasing standard of living, the energy consumption increases as well, and so does waste production. However, there is a possibility to combine energy production and wastewater treatment. A device that can accomplish this task is a microbial fuel cell. In microbial fuel cells activated sludge bacteria can be used for electricity production during wastewater treatment. One of the problems with microbial fuel cells is a low current density of those energy sources. Nonetheless, it is possible to increase the current density by using the catalyst for fuel electrode (anode) – as long as a low cost catalyst can be found. The possibility of wastewater treatment using the Cu-B all…

Comparison of powering the microbial fuel cell with various kinds of wastewater

2019

The possibility to combine wastewater treatment and electricity production can accomplish a microbial fuel cell. Microbial fuel cells use glucose from wastewater as a fuel. In recent years, both production of municipal and industry wastewater increases very much. Municipal wastewater is directed to the wastewater treatment plant. While industry wastewater can be use as a fertilizer. But, both municipal and industry wastewater can be used in the microbial fuel cells. The comparison of powering the microbial fuel cell with municipal and process wastewater from yeast production is presented in this paper. The measurements covered comparison of changes in the concentration of COD in the reactor…
