A comparative study on the compatibility of liquid lead–gold eutectic and liquid lead–bismuth eutectic with T91 and SS 316LN steels

Abstract Liquid lead–gold eutectic (LGE) is considered as a potential target material for high power spallation sources. In the present work, the corrosion effects of LGE on T91 and SS 316LN steels have been investigated in comparison with that of liquid lead–bismuth eutectic (LBE) under the same testing conditions. Two tests were conducted at 400 °C for 1800 h and at 450 °C for 1300 h, in which specimens of the two steels were exposed to 1 m/s flowing LGE and LBE. Background The purpose of this in vivo study was to compare the marginal and internal gap widths of monolithic zirconia crowns fabricated by CAD/CAM technique and metal-ceramic crowns fabricated by conventional technique. Material and methods 10 participants needing a single restoration were selected. Influence of Sr addition on structural, dielectric and Raman properties of Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3ceramics

ABSTRACTLead free (Na0.5Bi0.5)1-xSrxTiO3 (x = 0, 0.01 and 0.02) ceramics were produced by a conventional solid-state sintering method. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the obtained samples possess the perovskite structure with rhombohedral symmetry. The microstructure study shows a dense structure, in agreement with the relative density (above 97%). Dielectric analysis revealed the diffuse character of the electric permittivity anomalies and their shift to a lower temperature range after Sr doping of NBT. The Raman spectra are similar for all samples in agreement with the X-ray diffraction data. The possible origin of the observed effects was discussed.
Microwave properties and structure of La–Ti–Si–B–O glass-ceramics for applications in GHz electronics

Abstract A dielectric bulk glass-ceramic of the La 2 O 3 –TiO 2 –SiO 2 –B 2 O 3 system is developed which is able to fulfill the requirements for dielectric loading-based mobile communication technologies. It is shown that the given dielectric requirements can be fulfilled by glass-ceramic materials without being dependent on ceramic processing techniques. The material exhibited permittivity values of 20 ɛ r Qf τ f τ f material with a Qf value of 9500 GHz and ɛ r = 21.4 could be achieved at a ceramming temperature T cer = 870 °C. Two-phase dielectric polar structures in 0.1NBT-0.6ST-0.3PT solid solutions

Abstract In this work we address the peculiarities of the macroscopic responses in ternary 0.1Na0·5Bi0·5TiO3-0.6SrTiO3-0.3PbTiO3 (0.1NBT-0.6ST-0.3PT) solid solutions. These solid solutions exhibit a spontaneous first order relaxor to normal ferroelectric phase transition. The phase transition is accompanied by a broad dielectric relaxation which expands over 10 orders of magnitude in frequency just above the phase transition temperature. The temperature dependence of polarization shows that non-zero net polarization persists above the phase transition temperature. Dielectric behaviour of BaTi1-xZrxO3ceramics obtained by means of a solid state and mechanochemical synthesis

ABSTRACTIn this study the comparison of dielectric behaviour of BaTi1-xZrxO3 (BTZx) ceramic samples prepared by means of a solid state and mechanochemical synthesis was presented. A single phase of perovskite structure was identified in the samples at room temperature. No significant impurities were detected in an EDS spectrum and the samples had a good stoichiometric ratio. The morphology of the investigated samples was characterized by a scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The investigation of dielectric properties of the BTZx samples within the temperature range from 140 K to 600 K was performed by means of a dielectric spectroscopy method at the frequency ranging from 0.1 Hz to 10 MHz. …

Radiation emission at channeling of electrons in a strained layer undulator crystal

Abstract Experiments have been performed at the Mainz Microtron MAMI to explore the radiation emission spectra from a crystalline undulator at electron beam energies of 270 and 855 MeV. The epitaxially grown graded composition strained layer Si 1 - x Ge x undulator had 4-period with a period length λ u = 9.9 μ m . Spectra taken at the beam energy of 270 MeV at channeling in the undulating (110) planes exhibit a broad excess yield around the theoretically expected photon energies of 0.069 MeV, as compared with a flat silicon reference crystal. Plasmas of electron cyclotron resonance ion sources (ECRISs) are prone to kinetic instabilities due to the resonant heating mechanism resulting in anisotropic electron velocity distribution. Frequently observed periodic oscillations of extracted ion beam current in the case of high plasma heating power and/or strong magnetic field have been proven to be caused by cyclotrontype instabilities leading to a notable reduction and temporal variation of highly charged ion production. Time resolved measurements of hydrogen ion energy distributions in a pulsed 2.45 GHz microwave plasma

A plasma diagnostic study of the Ion Energy Distribution Functions (IEDFs) of H+, H+2H2+, and H+3H3+ ions in a 2.45 GHz hydrogen plasma reactor called TIPS is presented. The measurements are conducted by using a Plasma Ion Mass Spectrometer with an energy sector and a quadrupole detector from HIDEN Analytical Limited in order to select an ion species and to measure its energy distribution. The reactor is operated in the pulsed mode at 100 Hz with a duty cycle of 10% (1 ms pulse width). The IEDFs of H+, H+2H2+, and H+3H3+ are obtained each 5 μs with 1 μs time resolution throughout the entire pulse.
