The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of topical capsaicin application on human lingual mucosa and to assess if neurogenic inflammation might have a role in the pathogenesis of lingual diseases. Thirty patients (16 males and 14 females; mean age: 41.46 +/- 11.8 years; range: 23-60) were examined in our laboratory. Mit Sauerstoff-Mikroelektroden werden die lokalen Werte des Sauerstoffpartialdruckes im Mikrobereich der Organe gemessen und graphisch als Haufigkeitsverteilungen (Histogramme) dargestellt. Theoretisch wird der Einfluss der Kapillaranordnung (Gleich-, Gegenstromsystem und Kapillarnetzwerk) auf die Haufigkeitsverteilung der P02 Werte untersucht. Die fur zweidimensionale Modelle durchgefuhrte Analyse zeigt, dass Unterschiede in der Durchblutung, wie sie in den einzelnen Zweigen der Kapillarnetzwerke auftreten, einen starken Einfluss auf die Histogramme haben.

Using a special apparatus for high resolution cinephotomicrography, which allows simultaneous observation and recording of microcirculatory changes, alterations in blood flow patterns and in red cell shape during norepinephrine acting have been studied. Under physiological conditions, and during slowing of capillary blood flow due to gradual removing of 20–25% of the circulating blood volume, the normal red cells are extremely deformable while passing through mesenteric capillaries. The cellular immune response depends on the delivery of lymphocytes from the lymph node to the peripheral site of antigenic challenge. During their passage through the inflammatory microcirculaton, the migratory cells can become transiently immobilized or "trapped" in small caliber vessels. In this report, we used intravital microscopy and temporal area mapping to define the dynamic deformation of efferent lymph-derived mononuclear cells trapped in the systemic inflammatory microcirculation. Hemodilution in isolated tumor perfusion.

Experiments are performed to study the influence of local hemodilution on tumor blood flow, oxygen availability in tumor tissue and O2 consumption of cancer cells. The results obtained clearly show that hemodilution in isolated tumor perfusion can distinctly improve nutritive blood flow through solid tumors. This can be utilized to enhance pharmacokinetics of antitumor drugs. Due to the improved metabolic status, the pharmacodynamics of some antitumor drugs should also be enhanced. To achieve a maximum improvement of the O2 supply to the tumor, hematocrit values should not be decreased below 0.20.
Application of colour magnification technique for revealing skin microcirculation changes under regional anaesthetic input

In this work the colour magnification technique was applied for monitoring of palm skin microcirculation changes under peripheral (Plexus Brachialis with axiliary access) Regional Anaesthesia (RA). During the RA procedure 20 minute video of patient’s forearm was taken at steady light conditions. Video content was processed offline by custom developed Matlab software with build-in colour magnification algorithm that performs temporal filtering of video sequence near-heartbeat frequency, spatial decomposition of video and amplification of pulsatile signal in every pixel of skin image. FVIII production by human lung microvascular endothelial cells

While extrahepatic factor VIII (FVIII) synthesis suffices for hemostasis, the extrahepatic production sites are not well defined. We therefore investigated the ability of the human lungs to produce FVIII. Lungs from heart-beating donors who were declined for transplantation were perfused and ventilated in an isolated reperfusion model for 2 hours. A progressive accumulation of FVIII and von Willebrand factor (VWF) was recorded in the perfusion medium in 3 of 4 experiments. Recently, many findings indicate that granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of acute and chronic lung diseases. In the present paper, the production of this cytokine in human pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells (HPMEC) is investigated. In an in vitro study, quiescent HPMEC did not express GM-CSF, either at the transcriptional or at the protein level.
