Accuracy combining different brands of implants and abutments

2013

Objective: To evaluate the vertical misfit between different brands of dental implants and prosthetic abutments, with or without mechanical torque, and to study their possible combination. Study design: Five different brands of implant were used in the study: Biofit (Castemaggiore, Italy), Bioner S.A. (Barcelona, Spain), 3i Biomet (Palm Beach, U.S.A.), BTI (Alava, Spain) and Nobel Biocare (Göteborg, Sweden), with standard 4.1 mm heads and external hexagons, and their respective machined prosthetic abutments. The implant-to- abutment fit/misfit was evaluated at four points (vestibular, lingual/palatine, mesial and distal) between implants and abutments of the same brand and different brands,…

Spot compliant neuronal networks by structure optimized micro-contact printing

2001

Neuronal cell growth in vitro can be controlled with micropatterned structures of extracellular matrix proteins such as laminin. This technique is a powerful tool for studying neuronal cell function in order to increase experimental reproducibility and to specifically design innovative experimental setups. In this paper the correlation between the structural dimensions of the ECM pattern and the shape of the resulting cellular network is analyzed. The aim of the present study was to position neuronal cell bodies as precisely as possible and to induce directed cell differentiation. PCC7-MzN cells were cultured on laminin patterns. The line width, node size and gap size in-between cell adhesi…

Emulsionspolymerisation von styrol mit intermittierender radikalerzeugung. II. Kinetische untersuchungen

1965

<title>Laser-pulse-induced chemical reactions and surface patterning in Co-Si and Co-Ti-Si films: investigations by x-ray diffraction and atomi…

2001

X-ray diffraction patterns reflected from the laser treated crystalline CoSi2 layer, the measurements of surface electrical resistance and atomic force microscopy micrographs confirm the 'generation-diffusion-deformational instabilities' model of formation of defect ordered structures of various types. The CO2 laser induced decrease of the thermal coefficient of resistance to zero in Co-Ti-Si films is realized. X-ray diffraction studies of the treated films confirm that the obtained (alpha) changes with number of laser pulses are caused due to solid phase reaction Co + 2Si equals CoSi2 and 5Ti + 3Si equals Ti5Si3.© (2001) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering. Use of positron annihilation measurements to detect the defect beneath worn surface of stainless steel 1.4301 (EN) under dry sliding condition

2012

Abstract Positron measurements were performed for detection of the subsurface zone in the stainless steel 1.4301 (EN) exposed to dry sliding. They revealed the defect profile induced by dry sliding which is extended inward the worn surface from 85 μm to 400 μm depending on the applied load during the tribo-test. This result was obtained using the positron techniques, while the microhardness profile exhibited shorter range of the microhardness depth profile, i.e., from 70 μm to 150 μm. However, at the depth of about 5 μm from the worn surface the sudden increase in the microhardness was observed. The complementary measurements of X-ray diffraction and SEM micrographs of the worn surface were…

Processes during preparation of lead/acid battery positive plates from tetrabasic lead sulfate (4BS) pastes

1993

Abstract Tthe processes studied during this investigation were paste mixing and curing. Tetrabasic lead sulfate 4BS pastes were prepared by solution and paste methods both from α-PbO and mill oxides, and the development of 4BS was carried out already during the paste mixing stage. the 4BS pastes were characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD and wet-chemical methods, and the results were compared with those obtained from the characterization of corresponding tribasic lead sulfate (3BS) pastes. The preparation method was found to be one dominating factor affecting both the morphology and structure of 4BS active masses. The selection of raw material gave an additional effect on the morphology. Additiona…

Electrodeposition of CeO2 and Co-Doped CeO2 Nanotubes by Cyclic Anodization in Porous Alumina Membranes

2013

An anodic electrodeposition process is proposed to prepare CeO2 and Co-doped CeO2 nanotubes. Anodic alumina membrane is used as template and linear sweep voltammetry is employed to allow the formation of nanotubes without alumina dissolution. SEM micrographs showed large arrays of well defined and aligned NTs, which resulted to be crystalline soon after deposition according to XRD diffraction patterns and Raman Spectroscopy.

Adaptation of the disector method to rare small organelles in TEM sections exemplified by counting synaptic bodies in the rat pineal gland

1997

The disector is the only objective method for quantifying particles of variable size in a given volume. With this method, cell organelles are identified on adjacent sections, but only those present in one section are counted. When counting extremely rare structures in transmission electron microscope sections (physical disector), the usual procedure of counting on electron micrographs is limited for economic reasons (e.g. micrographs highly outnumbering the investigated structures). Hence, to apply this unbiased stereological method, a modification of the physical disector concerning 3 aspects has been developed. (1) The prerequisite of screening large corresponding tissue areas (here appro…

A minimally invasive methodology based on morphometric parameters for day 2 embryo quality assessment.

2014

[EN] The risk of multiple pregnancy to maternal fetal health can be minimized by reducing the number of embryos transferred. New tools for selecting embryos with the highest implantation potential should be developed. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ability of morphological and morphometric variables to predict implantation by analysing images of embryos. This was a retrospective study of 135 embryo photographs from 112 IVF ICSI cycles carried out between January and March 2011. The embryos were photographed immediately before transfer using Cronus 3 software. Their images were analysed using the public program ImageJ. Significant effects (P < 0.05), and higher discriminant power …
