Pressure Effect Studies on the Spin Transition of Microporous 3D Polymer [Fe(pz)Pt(CN)4]

2018

Pressure effects on the spin transition of the three-dimensional (3D) porous coordination polymer {Fe(pz)[Pt(CN)4]} have been investigated in the interval 105 Pa–1.0 GPa through variable-temperature (10–320 K) magnetic susceptibility measurements and spectroscopic studies in the visible region at room temperature. These studies have disclosed a different behavior of the compound under pressure. In the magnetic experiments, a temperature independent paramagnetic behavior has been observed under 0.4 GPa. In contrast, at room temperature and at 0.8 GPa, a complete HS-to-LS transition has been evidenced. The differences in the magnetic behavior are strongly related with the porous structure of …

Transport of amino acids through liquid membranes supported on novel poly(vinylidenefluoride) porous flat-sheet matrix

1997

Flat-sheet membranes from poly(vinylidenefluoride) (PVDF) were prepared by the phase inversion process. LiCl was used as a modifying agent. The porosity, maximum pore size and LEPW (liquid entry pressure of water) were determined. Three types of these membranes were tested as a support for n-decanol supported liquid membranes (SLM). Transport of eight amino acids, selected to cover a wide variety of side chains, and of phenylalanine methyl ester through n-decanol SLM were studied. The ability of amino acids to permeates through these membranes depends on the type of flat-sheet PVDF used as a support. An increase in porosity and pore size of the microporous matrix resulted in an increase of …

Catalytic Performance of the New Delaminated ITQ-2 Zeolite for Mild Hydrocracking and Aromatic Hydrogenation Processes

2001

Abstract Catalysts based on NiMo and Pt supported on the new delaminated ITQ-2 zeolite have been prepared and their catalytic properties evaluated for the mild hydrocracking (MHC) of vacuum gasoil and aromatic hydrogenation. The results were compared with those obtained using other conventional supports, e.g., silica, γ-alumina, amorphous silica–alumina (25 wt% Al 2 O 3 ), and USY zeolite, all of which contain the same metal loading as the ITQ-2 material. In the case of MHC of vacuum gasoil, NiMo/ITQ-2 displayed a higher hydrocracking activity than NiMo/SiO 2 –Al 2 O 3 and NiMoγ-Al 2 O 3 , and even higher activity than NiMo/USY in the range 375–425°C. Moreover, NiMo/ITQ-2 had a selectivity …

Synthesis of Microporous Carbon Nanofibers and Nanotubes from Conjugated Polymer Network and Evaluation in Electrochemical Capacitor

2009

One-dimensional fibers and tubes are constructed through the oriented carbon-carbon cross-linking reactions towards rigid conjugated polymer networks. As the result, a template-free and one-step synthesis of CNTs and CNFs is achieved through a simple carbonization of the as-formed carbon-rich tubular and fiberlike polyphenylene precursors under argon. Microporous CNTs and CNFs with a surface area up to 900 m2 g–1 are obtained, together with HR-TEM characterizations indicating the formation of intrinsic microporous structure in these rigid carbon-rich networks. The primary electrochemical experiments reveal their promising applications as advanced electrodes in electrochemical double-layered…

Identification of Manganese(IV) Centers in Archaeological Glass Using Microsample Coatings Attached to PolymerFilm Electrodes

2001

Identification of MnO2 nodulae in archaeological glass by linear scan and differential pulse voltammetry using abrasive-conditioned microsamples attached to polymer film (Elvacite 2044) electrodes is described. Voltammetric responses for manganese-containing samples parallels to those obtained for β- and γ-MnO2 upon immersion of modified electrodes into NaCl, KCl and acetic/acetate aqueous media. The observed electrochemical response provides information on the open microporous structure of the MnO2 forms and the conditions of their formation during the weathering process of buried glass.

Sorption Kinetics of Benzene and p-Xylene on Template Supported Synthesized Gallosilicates

1993

Adsorption equilibria and kinetics of benzene and p-xylene on microporous gallosilicates (Ga-MFI) were measured piezometrically to ascertain the role of Ga in the system and to compare it with Ga-free MFI structures. The intracrystalline mobility of benzene follows a diffusional mechanism throughout the entire concentration range with an energy of activation that considerably exceeds that for the Ga-free species (78 kJmol−1 and 26 kJmol−1, respectively). For p-xylene, the kinetics indicate the existence of three sorption states. Sorbing species become highly immobile at a pore filling of ca n > 4 molecules per unit cell, i.e. in the range of concentration where isotherm hysteresis occurs. T…

Soft hydrothermal synthesis of new microporous materials based on phosphate-like species

1994

ABSTRACTFactors controlling hydrothermal synthetic procedures are not well understood. A good knowledge of the solution chemistry of precursor species is the best reference for the design of rational procedures. Examples of the predictive character of simple models in order to rationalize complex syntheses are discussed in detail.

Atrane complexes chemistry as a tool for obtaining trimodal UVM-7-like porous silica

2018

[EN] The use of atrane complexes as hydrolytic precursors enables the homogeneous incorporation of manganese (25Si/Mn48) throughout the porous walls of the nanoparticles of a surfactant-templated bimodal mesoporous silica (UVM-7). The subsequent leaching of the manganese nanodomains allows adding controlled microporosity to the host silica framework. The resulting final silica material presents three pore systems structured at different length scales: interparticle textural-type macroporosity (ca. 43.2nm), ordered intraparticle mesoporosity (ca. 2.63nm; after template removal), and well-dispersed microporosity (< 2nm; as consequence of the lixiviation of the Mn-rich domains). The good dispe…

Bidirectional Chemo-Switching of Spin State in a Microporous Framework

2009

The ins and outs of spin: Using the microporous coordination polymer {Fe(pz)[Pt(CN)(4)]} (1, pz=pyrazine), incorporating spin-crossover subunits, two-directional magnetic chemo-switching is achieved at room temperature. In situ magnetic measurements following guest vapor injection show that most guest molecules transform 1 from the low-spin (LS) state to the high-spin (HS) state, whereas CS(2) uniquely causes the reverse HS-to-LS transition.
