Implantable collamer lens and femtosecond laser for myopia: comparison using an adaptive optics visual simulator.

Purpose: To compare optical and visual quality of implantable collamer lens (ICL) implantation and femtosecond laser in situ keratomileusis (F-LASIK) for myopia. Methods: The CRX1 adaptive optics visual simulator (Imagine Eyes, Orsay, France) was used to simulate the wavefront aberration pattern after the two surgical procedures for -3-diopter (D) and -6-D myopia. Visual acuity at different contrasts and contrast sensitivities at 10, 20, and 25 cycles/degree (cpd) were measured for 3-mm and 5-mm pupils. Clinical use of the ocular point spread function for retinal image quality assessment

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the clinical use of the point spread function (PSF) as metric for the assessment of retinal image quality in eyes with different ocular conditions. The PSF was computed from the wavefront aberrations obtained in seven eyes with different ocular conditions: emmetropia, myopia, hyperopia, post-myopic laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), post-hyperopic LASIK, keratoconus, Intacs ® in keratoconus, radial keratotomy (RK), LASIK after RK, cataract, phacoemulsification after cataract surgery, and LASIK after astigmatic keratotomy. Abstract Purpose: To evaluate the quality of keratectomy specimens created with the Amadeus® microkeratome (AMO) using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Setting: Johannes Gutenberg-University Hospital, Department of Ophthalmology, Mainz, and the Department of Anatomy, Justus Liebig-University, Giessen, Germany. Methods: Corneal cuts were performed in freshly enucleated pig eyes using the Amadeus microkeratome with 9 combinations of oscillation rate and head-advance speed. We present an analysis of exclusive charmless semileptonic B-meson decays based on 83x10{sup 6} BB pairs recorded with the BABAR detector at the {upsilon}(4S) resonance. Using isospin symmetry, we measure branching fractions B(B{sup 0}{yields}{pi}{sup -}l{sup +}{nu})=(1.38{+-}0.10{+-}0.16{+-}0.08)x10{sup -4} and B(B{sup 0}{yields}{rho}{sup -}l{sup +}{nu})=(2.14{+-}0.21{+-}0.48{+-}0.28)x10{sup -4}, where the errors are statistical, experimental systematic, and due to form-factor shape uncertainties. Measurements of theB→Xsγbranching fraction and photon spectrum from a sum of exclusive final states

Using 88.9 million BB events collected by the BaBar detector at the Y(4S), we measure the branching fraction for the radiative penguin process B -> X_s gamma from the sum of 38 exclusive final states. The inclusive branching fraction above a minimum photon energy E_gamma > 1.9 GeV is BF (b -> s gamma) = (3.27 +/- 0.18 (stat.) +0.55/-0.40 (syst.) +0.04/-0.09 (theory)) 10^-4. We also measure the isospin asymmetry between B^- -> X_s ubar gamma and B^0bar -> X_s dbar gamma to be Delta_0- = -0.006 +/- 0.058 (stat.) +/- 0.009 (syst.) +/- 0.024 (B^0bar / B^-). Study ofB→πlνandB→ρlνdecays and determination of|Vub|

We present an analysis of exclusive charmless semileptonic B-meson decays based on 377×106 BB pairs recorded with the BABAR detector at the Υ(4S) resonance. We select four event samples corresponding to the decay modes B0→π-l+ν, B+→π0l+ν, B0→ρ-l+ν, and B+→ρ0l+ν and find the measured branching fractions to be consistent with isospin symmetry. Assuming isospin symmetry, we combine the two B→πlν samples, and similarly the two B→ρlν samples, and measure the branching fractions B(B0→π-l+ν)=(1.41±0.05±0.07)×10-4 and B(B0→ρ-l+ν)=(1.75±0.15±0.27)×10-4, where the errors are statistical and systematic. Measurement of electrons from semileptonic heavy-flavor hadron decays inppcollisions ats=2.76  TeV

The pT-differential production cross section of electrons from semileptonic decays of heavy-flavor hadrons has been measured at midrapidity in proton-proton collisions at s=2.76TeV in the transverse momentum range 0.5<pT<12GeV/c with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The analysis was performed using minimum bias events and events triggered by the electromagnetic calorimeter. Predictions from perturbative QCD calculations agree with the data within the theoretical and experimental uncertainties.

Spectroscopy, lifetime and decay modes of the Tbb− tetraquark

Abstract We present the first full-fledged study of the flavor-exotic isoscalar T b b − ≡ b b u ¯ d ¯ tetraquark with spin and parity J P = 1 + . We report accurate solutions of the four-body problem in a quark model, characterizing the structure of the state as a function of the ratio M Q / m q of the heavy to light quark masses. For such a standard constituent model, T b b − lies approximately 150 MeV below the strong decay threshold B − B ⁎ ¯ 0 and 105 MeV below the electromagnetic decay threshold B − B ¯ 0 γ . We evaluate the lifetime of T b b − , identifying the promising decay modes where the tetraquark might be looked for in future experiments. Its total decay width is Γ ≈ 87 × 10 − …
