Equity is frequently cited as one of the key design aspects of environmental governance regimes. Another defence of enumerated types

I claim that enumerations, while of course not strictly necessary, are an elegant and useful facility in modern programming languages. I try to show that arguments recently given against them are weak at best and bogus a t worst, for general-purpose programming. Some related issues on types in programming languages are touched as well. These make it even more questionable whether Oberon marks progress or regress in language design.

A symmetric Galerkin BEM for plate bending analysis

Abstract The Symmetric Galerkin Boundary Element Method is employed in thin plate bending analysis in accordance with the Love–Kirchhoff kinematical assumption. The equations are obtained through the stationary conditions of the total potential energy, written for a plate whose boundary is discretized in boundary elements. Since the matrix coefficients are made up as double integrals with high order singularities, a strategy is shown to compute these coefficients in closed form. Reproductive isolation in termites is not well known. Our study carried out on two sympatric species from northern Vietnam, Macrotermes annandalei and M. barneyi, showed that dispersal flights and sex pheromones were two important factors in their reproductive isolation. These fungus-growing termites were isolated, partially due to the timing of their respective dispersal flights. M. annandalei flew the first day after rain, while the flights of M. barneyi occurred the second day after rain. However, the flights can also be simultaneous in the two species.
