Phosphorylation of carcinogen metabolizing enzymes: regulation of the phosphorylation status of the major phenobarbital inducible cytochromes P-450 i…

1989

We present data showing that the major phenobarbital inducible cytochromes P-450 (cytochrome P-450IIB1 and cytochrome P-450IIB2) were phosphorylated in intact hepatocytes. This phosphorylation was greatly increased by the cAMP derivatives N6-dibutyryl-cAMP and 8-thiomethyl-cAMP mediated by a cAMP-dependent protein kinase. Most importantly the phosphorylation status of cytochromes P-450 was shown to change in the hepatocytes after treatment with glucagon, which is known to increase the level of cAMP in hepatocytes. The observed impact of the hormone glucagon on the phosphorylation of distinct cytochrome P-450 forms in intact hepatocytes reveals the possibility that the enzyme activity of cyt…

Cellular immune response to human renal-cell carcinomas: Definition of a common antigen recognized by HLA-A2-restricted cytotoxic T-Lymphocyte (CTL) …

1994

Cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) clones directed against autologous renal-cell carcinoma (RCC) cell lines were generated by mixed lymphocyte/tumor-cell culture (MLTC) using peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL). A CD8+, CD4- CTL clone MZ1257-CTL 5/30 with high cytolytic activity for the autologous tumor cell line MZ1257-RCC was established. No lysis of the autologous EBV-transformed B lymphocytes (EBV-B) or K562 cells was observed. A panel of HLA-A2-matched allogeneic RCC lines was recognized by CTL 5/30. Further specificity analysis showed a cross-reactivity with HLA-A2-matched allogeneic tumor cells of various origins, especially melanoma. CTL 5/30 was also cross-reactive with several HLA-A2-pos…

Cytogenetic findings in malignant mixed mesodermal tumors of the uterus.

1997

Abstract Cytogenetic analyses of four malignant mixed mesodermal tumors (MMMT) of the uterus are reported, of which one was of the homologous type and three of the heterologous type. Karyotypic analyses were obtained in two cases from original tumors and in two cases from tumors xenotransplanted into nude mice. The karyotype of the homologous MMMT was normal in three different passages of a nude mice xenograft line established from the primary tumor. The heterologous tumors showed normal karyotype in one case and hyperdiploid and near triploid range with extensive numerical and structural rearrangements in two cases. Deletion of chromosome 1 at p32, and deletion of chromosome 11 at q13 were…

Existence and Regularity for a Class of Nonlinear Hyperbolic Boundary Value Problems

2002

AbstractThe regularity of the solution of the telegraph system with nonlinear monotone boundary conditions is investigated by two methods. The first one is based on D'Alembert-type representation formulae for the solution. In the second method the telegraph system is reduced to a linear Cauchy problem with a locally Lipschitzian functional perturbation; then regularity results are established by appealing to the theory of linear semigroups.

Electrosynthesis of Ce–Co Mixed Oxide Nanotubes with High Aspect Ratio and Tunable Composition

2008

Cerium oxide and cobalt oxides have attracted the interest of several researchers due to their potential application in several technological fields electrochromism, lithium batteries, catalysis, etc.. Ceria has been used as a promoter in the so-called “three-way catalyst” for the control of toxic emission from automobile exhaust. The promotion consists of the enhancement of the noble metal dispersion, as well as stabilization of the supporting medium toward thermal sintering. 1,2 A direct catalytic effect of CeO2 in chemical processes such as water–gas shift reaction or NOx decomposition has been also evidenced. 3,4

Changes of species specific cuticular hydrocarbon profiles in the cockroaches Nauphoeta cinerea and Leucophaea maderae reared in heterospecific groups

1997

0013-8703 (Print) 1570-7458 (Online); The cuticular hydrocarbon profiles of the cockroaches Nauphoeta cinerea and Leucophaea maderae are species-specific when maintained in homospecific rearings. When individuals were reared in mixed species colonies, they initially remained in homospecific groups under different shelters. However, after 14 days they formed one heterospecific group with cuticular profiles showing characteristics of both species. When individuals were returned in monospecific rearings, their cuticular hydrocarbon profiles returned to species-specific ones within 3 weeks.

The role of molybdenum in Mo-doped V–Mg–O catalysts during the oxidative dehydrogenation of n-butane

1999

Abstract A detailed study on the influence of the addition of molybdenum ions on the catalytic behaviour of a selective vanadium–magnesium mixed oxide catalyst in the oxidation of n-butane has been performed. The catalysts have been prepared by impregnation of a calcined V–Mg–O mixed oxides (23.8 wt% of V2O5) with an aqueous solution of ammonium heptamolybdate, and then calcined, and further characterised by several physico-chemical techniques, i.e. SBET, XRD, FTIR, FT-Raman, XPS, H2-TPR. MgMoO4, in addition to Mg3V2O8 and MgO, have been detected in all the Mo-doped samples. The incorporation of molybdenum modifies not only the number of V5+-species on the catalyst surface and the reducibil…

Hyperoxic Intubation Apnoea: An In Vivo Model for the Proof of the Christiansen-Douglas-Haldane Effect

1989

The Christiansen-Douglas-Haldane effect (HALDANE effect) describes the different CO2 binding capacity of haemoglobin on its degree of oxygenation and was first demonstrated in vitro in 1914 (Christiansen, Douglas and Haldane, 1914).
