Returns To Education During And After The Economic Crisis: Evidence From Latvia 2006–2012

We employ EU-SILC micro data for Latvia to study how returns to education changed during the economic crisis of 2008–2009 and afterwards. We found that returns to education increased significantly during the crisis and decreased slightly during the subsequent economic recovery. The counter-cyclical effect was evident in nearly all population groups. After the crisis, education became more associated than before with a longer working week and a higher employment probability. Estudios teóricos y experimentales del efecto de las aberraciones en la profundidad de campo, la refracción y la acomodación ocular

Se presentan cinco estudios relacionados con los efectos que producen las aberraciones oculares monocromáticas en distintos aspectos del funcionamiento del sistema ocular. En el primero se hace uso de un sistema de óptica adaptativa para simular la óptica ocular durante la acomodación en un ojo con la acomodación paralizada y poder así estimar la profundidad de campo del ojo durante la acomodación. Los resultados muestran que dicha profundidad varía poco durante la acomodación, y el sistema visual hace uso de ella para acomodar lo menos posible para estímulos cercanos. Proces modernizacji polskiej armii jest jednym z najdłużej trwających procesów polityczno-militarno-społecznych w Polsce. Czas trwania, wielokrotne zmiany koncepcji planów modernizacyjnych Wojska Polskiego, przetasowania na polskiej scenie politycznej – wszystkie te czynniki miały niebagatelny wpływ na czas, jakość i koszty samego procesu modernizacji, który z tychże powodów trwa do dnia dzisiejszego. Celem artykułu jest przybliżenie czytelnikowi najważniejszych szans i zagrożeń wynikających z zmodernizowanego Panu Modernizacji Technicznej Wojska Polskiego.

Modal Consequence Relations Extending S4.3: An Application of Projective Unification

We characterize all finitary consequence relations over $\mathbf{S4.3}$ , both syntactically, by exhibiting so-called (admissible) passive rules that extend the given logic, and semantically, by providing suitable strongly adequate classes of algebras. This is achieved by applying an earlier result stating that a modal logic $L$ extending $\mathbf{S4}$ has projective unification if and only if $L$ contains $\mathbf{S4.3}$ . In particular, we show that these consequence relations enjoy the strong finite model property, and are finitely based. Motherhood‐induced gene expression in the mouse medial amygdala: Changes induced by pregnancy and lactation but not by pup stimuli

During lactation, adult female mice display aggressive responses toward male intrud-ers, triggered by male- derived chemosensory signals. This aggressive behavior is not shown by pup- sensitized virgin females sharing pup care with dams. The genetic mechanisms underlying the switch from attraction to aggression are unknown. In this work, we investigate the differential gene expression in lactating females ex-pressing maternal aggression compared to pup- sensitized virgin females in the me-dial amygdala (Me), a key neural structure integrating chemosensory and hormonal information. Los miomas son los tumores benignos más frecuentes en las mujeres en edad reproductiva y pueden asociar numerosos síntomas como dolor, sangrado y problemas reproductivos. Sin embargo, actualmente no existe una terapia totalmente satisfactoria por lo que es de suma importancia la evaluación de nuevos tratamientos.
