Diene-Containing Half-Sandwich MoIII Complexes as Ethylene Polymerization Catalysts: Experimental and Theoretical Studies
2001
International audience; Seventeen-electron compounds of Mo III having the general formula [(h 5-C 5 R 5)Mo(h 4-diene)X 2 ] (R H, Me; diene butadiene, iso-prene, or 2,3-dimethylbutadiene; X Cl, CH 3) are a new class of ethylene polymerization catalysts. The polyethy-lene obtained shows a bimodal distribution , the major weight fraction being characterized by very long (M around 10 6) and highly linear polymer chains. The newly prepared pentamethylcyclo-pentadienyl (Cp*) derivatives are more active than the cyclopentadienyl (Cp) derivatives, but much less active than previously investigated niobium III compounds having the same stoichiometry. On the other hand, the turnover frequency of the a…
Cyclopentadienylmolybdenum(VI) and molybdenum(V) oxo chemistry: New synthetic and structural features
2002
International audience; Convenient syntheses for Cp, Cp*, and related cyclopentadienyl derivatives (4Cp = C5HiPr4; Cp′′′ = C5H2tBu3-1,2,4) of formula [(Ring)2Mo2O5] are described. Compound [Cp2Mo2O5] was produced in good yields by the rapid oxidation of red [CpMoO2]4 with PhIO in CH2Cl2. [Cp*2Mo2O5] was obtained by CH3COOH acidification of aqueous solutions of [Cp*MoO3]−Na+, the latter being generated in a single step from [Cp*MoCl4] and more than 5 equiv. of aqueous NaOH in air. Minor quantities of [Cp*MoO2]2 were also isolated from this reaction, although the formation of this by-product may be reduced by using a two-step basic hydrolysis procedure. Extension of the latter strategy also a…
Molybdenum thin film growth on a TiO2 (1 1 0) substrate.
2009
International audience; We report a first principles study on the structure and energetics of thin films of molybdenum on a (1 1 0) surface of rutile TiO2. Mo films with 1 × 1 epitaxy in the coverage range between 0.5 and 2 monolayer are investigated. The most stable structures are those which maximize the number of Mo–Mo bonds. This leads to two-dimensional structures with zigzag Mo–Mo coordination for 1 monolayer coverage and three-dimensional structures with approximately body-centered cubic coordination for higher coverage. For a coverage up to 1.5 monolayers, the interface Mo atoms preferentially occupy the so-called upper hollow adsorption site with three Mo–O bonds
Synthesis, molecular and electronic structures of a paramagnetic trimetallic cluster containing an unusual Mo3(μ3-Se)2(μ-Se)3 core
2014
Abstract The electron precise [Mo3(μ3-Se)(μ-Se)3(dppe)3Br3]+ incomplete cuboidal complex, with six cluster skeletal electrons (CSE), was converted into the paramagnetic bicapped [Mo3(μ3-Se)2(μ-Se)3(dppe)3]+ cluster (1+), with an unusual seven metal electron population, by treatment with elemental Ga. The cluster core consists of an almost equilateral Mo3 triangle (Mo–Mo distances are in the range 2.7583(7)–2.7748(7) A with an average value of 2.77(3) A), capped by two selenide ligands. The remaining selenium atoms bridge adjacent metal atoms, defining a virtually planar Mo3(μ-Se)3 unit, with the capping Se atoms positioned above and below this plane. The new complex possesses a doublet grou…
A Bis(diazadiene) Adduct of MoCl 2 : Mononuclear, Octahedral, Undistorted and Diamagnetic
2004
The complex [MoCl2(iPr2dad)2] (iPr2dad = iPrN=CH−CH=N−iPr) is obtained in one step by reduction of [MoCl3(THF)3] in the presence of iPr2dad. The X-ray structure reveals a relatively undistorted octahedral coordination geometry with a relative cis configuration and points to a more appropriate description of the ligands as enediamides. The NMR investigation is in agreement with the same cis structure in solution and underlines the diamagnetism of the compound, at odds with previously reported very similar complexes. A bulk magnetic susceptibility measurement further confirms the compound’s diamagnetism. No equilibrium with a dinuclear, metal-metal bonded species is apparent from the solution…
Photo-electrochemical investigation of anodic oxide films on cast Ti–Mo alloys. I. Anodic behaviour and effect of alloy composition
2009
Abstract The anodic behaviour of cast Ti–Mo alloys, having different Mo contents (6–20 wt.%), was investigated in acidic and neutral aerated aqueous solutions. All sample showed a valve-metal behaviour, owing to formation and thickening of barrier-type anodic oxides displaying interference colours. Growth kinetics of passive films is influenced by both anodizing electrolyte and composition of the starting alloy. This last parameter was found to change also the solid-state properties of the films, explored by photoelectrochemical and impedance spectroscopy experiments. Thicker films ( U f = 8 V/MSE) grown on alloys richer in Mo showed more resistive character and a photocurrent sign inversi…
Role of Molybdenum on the Electronic Properties of Passive Films on Stainless Steels
2020
Potentiostatic polarization of different stainless steel grades with a mirror surface finishing was performed in order to investigate the role of Mo on stainless steels corrosion behaviour. In the attempt to gain more insight into transpassive dissolution mechanism, passive films were grown in neutral aqueous solution (pH ∼ 7) at different polarizing potentials ranging from passive to transpassive conditions. According to the photoelectrochemical characterization, Cr dissolution occurs even at low polarizing potentials in the case of AISI 304L, while higher band gap values were obtained for passive films grown on austenitic 316L and duplex SSs. Capacitance measurements suggest that the flat…
Novel Domino Oxidative Coupling: C−C Bond Formation Sequence to Highly Functionalized Dibenzo[a,c]cycloheptenes
2011
A domino sequence involving various MoCl(5)-mediated oxidations followed by trapping and supposed [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement provides a fast access to the full carbon skeleton of metasequirin-B. A variety of different moieties R(1) and R(2) are tolerated.
A New Potential Dietary Approach to Supply Micronutrients to Physically Active People through Consumption of Biofortified Vegetables
2022
Micronutrients are required in many reactions involved in physical activity and exercise. Most physically active people do not meet the body’s needs in terms of micronutrients through diet. The novelty of the present manuscript is the use of an innovative dietary approach to supply micronutrients to physically active people through biofortified food. Therefore, the key point of this study was to verify whether supplementation with biofortified vegetables—and specifically molybdenum (Mo)-enriched lettuce—in healthy volunteers affects essential regulators of body homeostasis and, specifically, hematological parameters, iron and lipid metabolism, and hepatic function. Twenty-…
Oxidative cyclization reaction of 2-aryl-substituted cinnamates to form phenanthrene carboxylates by using MoCl5.
2014
The oxidative cyclization reaction of 2-aryl cinnamates and derivatives thereof can be easily performed with MoCl5 as the oxidant. This powerful reagent allows oxidative coupling reactions for which other reagents fail. The best results are obtained when the 2-phenyl substituent of the cinnamate is equipped with two methoxy groups. Even iodo moieties in the bay region of phenanthrene are tolerated under the reaction conditions. If naphthalene moieties are involved, a rearrangement of the skeleton occurs, providing an elegant route to highly functionalized angular arenes. The cyclization is demonstrated for 15 example substrates with isolated yields of up to 99 % for the phenanthrene derivat…
