[EN] A highly regio- and stereoselective synthesis of 3-alkylidene-2-oxindoles has been described through a nucleophilic vinylic substitution (SNV) of (E)-3-(nitromethylene)indolin-2-one using pyrazol-3-ones as nucleophiles and Et3N as a base. The reaction affords selectively the Z-isomer when pyrazol-3-ones without substituents at the 4 position are used. While the reaction is E-selective with 4- substituted pyrazolones. The stereoselectivity (up to >20:1) and the yields (up to 98%) are very high under mild reaction conditions.
Versatile behavior of conjugated diynes with zirconocene reactive species

Thermal decomposition of Cp2ZrPh2 in the presence of the buta-1,3-diynes RC≡CC≡CR (R = Ph, SiMe3) can lead to seven- or five-membered metallacycles. In both cases a stable benzo-fused seven-membered zirconacyclocumulene arising from a 2-fold insertion of the triple bonds of the dialkyne in the in situ generated zirconocene benzyne is formed. In the case of Me3SiC≡CC≡CSiMe3 a second minor complex is isolated: a 3-alkynyl-substituted zirconaindene arising from a β monoinsertion of one acetylenic function of the conjugated diyne in the zirconocene benzyne. Montanacin-L and montanacin-K two previously non-described acetogenins from Annona montana twigs and leaves

A phytochemical study on Annona montana twigs and leaves led to the isolation of eleven annonaceous acetogenins, including two previously non-described compounds, montanacin-L and montanacin-K. Their structures were elucidated by extensive analyses of spectroscopic data (IR, UV, HRTOFMS, EI-MS and 1H, 13C and 2D NMR). The ACGs montanacin-L, montanacin-K, montanacin-D and montanacin-E were evaluated for their toxicity against Spodoptera frugiperda Smith (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Using a dicarboxylate ligand appended with (2-pyridyl)ethylamine unit, a new cluster [NiII8(L4)6(DMF)2(CH3OH)2(H2O)6][ClO4]4·2CH3OH·2CH3CO2C2H5 (1) [L4(2−): 3-[N-{2-(pyridin-2-yl)ethyl}amino]-bis(propionate)] has been synthesized, through ‘coordination-driven self-assembly’. The crystal structure of 1 reveals a centrosymmetric octanuclear carboxylate-bridged nickel(II) tetracation, with a distorted cubane topology. The four crystallographically independent nickel(II) centres differ markedly in their coordination environment. Anionic molecular imide complexes of aluminium are accessible via a rational synthetic approach involving the reactions of organo azides with a potassium aluminyl reagent. In the case of K2 [(NON)Al(NDipp)]2 (NON=4,5-bis(2,6-diisopropylanilido)-2,7-di-tert-butyl-9,9-dimethyl-xanthene; Dipp=2,6-diisopropylphenyl) structural characterization by X-ray crystallography reveals a short Al-N distance, which is thought primarily to be due to the low coordinate nature of the nitrogen centre. The electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical properties of two β-phosphorylated Zn porphyrins, [2-diethoxyphosphoryl-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrinato]zinc (1) and [2-diisopropoxyphosphoryl-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrinato]zinc (2), are reported in CH 2 Cl 2 and PhCN containing tetrabutylammonium perchlorate (TBAP) or tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate (TBAPF6) as supporting electrolyte. The effects of a direct connection between ferrocene and porphyrin units have been thoroughly investigated by electrochemical and spectroscopic methods. These data not only reveal that substitution of the porphyrin macrocycle by one, two, three or four ferrocenyl groups strongly affects the electronic properties of the porphyrin and ferrocenyl moieties, they also clearly demonstrate that the metallocene centres are "connected" through the porphyrin-based electronic network. Encapsulation of tetramethylphosphonium cations

International audience; The weak interactions and capsule formation of tetramethylphosphonium (TMP) cation with resorcinarenes 1 and 2 and the corresponding pyrogallarenes 3 and 4 were studied in the solid state by single crystal X-ray diffraction, in solution by NMR and in the gas phase by mass spectrometry. In methanol-D4, the NMR titration studies reveal that the association constants for the 1:1 complexes of TMP@3 and TMP@4 are much higher (TMP@4:390±37 M-1) than for the corresponding TMP@1 and TMP@2 (TMP@2:130±10 M-1) complexes.
