Electrochemical deposition of aniline derivatives for conductometric gas sensors
2019
International audience; Polymer film of poly(2,3,5,6-tetrafluoroaniline) (PTFA) were electroplated on ITO substrate from acidic medium by chronoamperometry. Electrochemical and morphological characterizations were performed and compared to polyaniline properties similarly coated. It seemed that PTFA film had an irreversible redox response with poor conductivity due to the absence of acid-base doping. This film were then incorporated in a patented device called MSDI heterojunction to perform ammonia sensing in humid atmosphere.
Kinetic control in the temperature-dependent sequential growth of surface-confined supramolecular copolymers
2017
We report the sequential growth of supramolecular copolymers on gold surfaces, using oppositely charged dendritic peptide amphiphiles. By including water-solubilising thermoresponsive chains in the monomer design, we observed non-linear effects in the temperature-dependent sequential growth. The step-wise copolymerisation process is characterised using temperature dependent SPR and QCM-D measurements. At higher temperatures, dehydration of peripheral oligoethylene glycol chains supports copolymer growth due to more favourable comonomer interactions. Both monomers incorporate methionine amino acids but remarkably, desorption of the copolymers via competing sulphur gold interactions with the …
Ethene/norbornene copolymerization with (isodicyclopentadienyl)titanium complex-MAO catalyst
2007
Norbornene (NB) homopolymerization and ethene/NB copolymerizations with a silylene-bridged (isodicyclopentadienyl)(tert-butylamido)titanium dichloride-methylalumoxane (MAO) catalyst system were investigated. This catalytic system shows no efficiency towards NB homopolymerization but produces poly(ethene-co-norbornene)s. An increase in the initial NB feed content leads to a loss of copolymerization activity as well as NB copolymer incorporation. The structure of the isodicyclopentadienyl fragment (IsodiCp) has a strong limiting effect on comonomer incorporation possibilities.
Selective Metal–Ligand Bond-Breaking Driven by Weak Intermolecular Interactions: From Metamagnetic Mn(III)-Monomer to Hexacyanoferrate(II)-Bridged Me…
2020
Metal–ligand coordination interactions are usually much stronger than weak intermolecular interactions. Nevertheless, here, we show experimental evidence and theoretical confirmation of a very rare...
Alkali Blues: Blue‐Emissive Alkali Metal Pyrrolates
2019
2-Iminopyrroles [HtBu L, 4-tert-butyl phenyl(pyrrol-2-ylmethylene)amine] are non-fluorescent π systems. However, they display blue fluorescence after deprotonation with alkali metal bases in the solid state and in solution at room temperature. In the solid state, the alkali metal 2-imino pyrrolates, M(tBu L), aggregate to dimers, [M(tBu L)(NCR)]2 (M=Li, R=CH3 , CH(CH3 )CNH2 ), or polymers, [M(tBu L)]n (M=Na, K). In solution (solv=CH3 CN, DMSO, THF, and toluene), solvated, uncharged monomeric species M(tBu L)(solv)m with N,N'-chelated alkali metal ions are present. Due to the electron-rich pyrrolate and the electron-poor arylimino moiety, the M(tBu L) chromophore possesses a low-energy intra…
Long-range electronic connection in picket-fence like ferrocene–porphyrin derivatives
2012
The effects of a direct connection between ferrocene and porphyrin units have been thoroughly investigated by electrochemical and spectroscopic methods. These data not only reveal that substitution of the porphyrin macrocycle by one, two, three or four ferrocenyl groups strongly affects the electronic properties of the porphyrin and ferrocenyl moieties, they also clearly demonstrate that the metallocene centres are "connected" through the porphyrin-based electronic network. The dynamic properties of selected ferrocene-porphyrin conjugates have been investigated by VT NMR and metadynamic calculations. 1,3-Dithiolanyl protecting groups have been introduced on the upper rings of the ferrocene …
Encapsulation of tetramethylphosphonium cations
2009
International audience; The weak interactions and capsule formation of tetramethylphosphonium (TMP) cation with resorcinarenes 1 and 2 and the corresponding pyrogallarenes 3 and 4 were studied in the solid state by single crystal X-ray diffraction, in solution by NMR and in the gas phase by mass spectrometry. In methanol-D4, the NMR titration studies reveal that the association constants for the 1:1 complexes of TMP@3 and TMP@4 are much higher (TMP@4:390±37 M-1) than for the corresponding TMP@1 and TMP@2 (TMP@2:130±10 M-1) complexes. In the gas phase both monomeric 1:1 TMP@1-TMP@4 complexes as well as the dimeric 1:2 capsule complexes, TMP@12-TMP@42 were observed. The 1:1:2 molar mixtures o…
Effect of AlR3 (R = Me, Et, iBu) addition on the composition and microstructure of ethylene/1-olefin copolymers made with post-metallocene complexes …
2018
The effect of trialkylaluminum compound (AlR3, where R = Me, Et, iBu) addition on the performance of the [LigZrCl]2(μ-O)/AliBu3/Ph3CB(C6F5)4 and LigTiCl2/AliBu3/Ph3CB(C6F5)4 (Lig = Me2N(CH2)2N(CH2-2-O-3,5-tBu2-C6H2)2) catalysts in ethylene/1-olefin copolymerization was investigated. The presence of AlMe3 in the feed during the copolymerization process catalyzed by the diamine-bis(phenolate) zirconium catalyst greatly increases the amount of incorporated comonomer and leads to microstructural changes, e.g., the formation of blocky and alternating sequences of 1-olefin units. Moreover, the use of AlMe3 limits the reaction yield and decreases the molecular weight of the produced copolymers. Th…
Light-induced structural changes in a monomeric bacteriophytochrome
2016
International audience; Phytochromes sense red light in plants and various microorganism. Light absorption causes structural changes within the protein, which alter its biochemical activity. Bacterial phytochromes are dimeric proteins, but the functional relevance of this arrangement remains unclear. Here, we use time-resolved X-ray scattering to reveal the solution structural change of a monomeric variant of the photosensory core module of the phytochrome from Deinococcus radiodurans. The data reveal two motions, a bend and a twist of the PHY domain with respect to the chromophore-binding domains. Infrared spectroscopy shows the refolding of the PHY tongue. We conclude that a monomer of th…
Structure and Stability of Hsp60 and Groel in Solution
2016
Molecular chaperones are a class of proteins able to prevent non-specific aggregation of mitochondrial proteins and to promote their proper folding. Among them, human Hsp60 is currently considered as a ubiquitous molecule with multiple roles both in maintaining health conditions and as a trigger of several diseases. Of particular interest is its role in neurodegenerative disorders since it is able to inhibit the formation of amyloid fibrils.Hsp60 structure was considered, until recent years, analogue to the one of its bacterial homolog GroEL, one of the most investigated chaperones, whose crystallographic structure is a homo-tetradecamer, made up of two seven member rings. On the contrary, …
